Something warm in the wind
Puts the color back with ease,
'Round the stems of flowers
Into the limbs of trees ...
Newness to the place around
Greenery born upon the breeze.

The Cloisters is a special place,
Medieval and austere,
Assembled from five monasteries
Brought from France to here.*
Within its walls are gardens,
All meticulous and neat
And to celebrate the holidays,
There is a special treat:
Swags of greenery and apples
On the lintels, way up high,
Plus so many matching wreaths
You had to smile as you passed by.
Just the perfect touch of festive
For a Middle Ages site,
With no need for glitz and glitter,
An old-fashioned yule delight.

Death by 5… in the Kitchen
or, A Bottle Garden No One Expected
Perched on an oak table, there rests an opulent and ornate glass bijou bottle,
a growing collection of nature’s organic jade.
But hidden below the green finery, concealed from a mushroom nursery,
there develops a frightful opalescence enclave.
A clutch of ravenous slugs of horror are preparing to hatch within the hour,
and raise an unholy terror, with the sole purpose of flora devour! Oh, my!

after the rain, wildflowers bend like
wilted men wrapped in age and bliss
fragments of longing and belonging
in wet that sustains a warming world
to bring elation with green fields
in a mission of beauty
daisies poke through tall grasses
picketing the field with star shaped heads
and yellow centre discs
that make the world manageable to hold
gadflies of growth
with white petals plucked by
wooing hands to know
the alignment of love
greenery with life within
overstuffed
drenched hazy
a tangle of vegetation
all of it deflecting woe like voices in a chorus
finding one's self in the mix

In the garden, mud squished beneath my feet.
I dreamt of oceans vast and concrete,
Where rainbows danced upon the waves,
And washed stone glistened in the sun's raves.
But beyond the sea, darkness loomed.
And creatures of the deep entombed,
A world of mystery and fear
Where danger lurked and death was near.
Yet still, I yearned to explore.
To sail the seas and seek out more,
To brave the storms and face my fate,
And discover what lies beyond the gate.
For in my heart, a fire burned,
A passion that could not be turned
To grasp the world and all its wonder,
And now bygone be held asunder.
So I set sail and left the shore,
To seek the treasures that lie in store,
To chart fresh lands and conquer fears,
And live a life without any tears.
And though the journey was cruel and long,
And intermittently I felt weak and wrong.
I never gave up on my throng.

In the shade, I shrivel
in flowering cactus
crafting sloppy verse
below the scraggly
exhausted moon
warm reverberations of love
originating in the Jade Garden
nerves jangling in my true being
the magnificent encounter
of how to melt
this iron reluctance
dreams can feel
most real than actual life
every day as I unseal my eyes.

Greenery stretches
As far as your eyes can reach
An abundance of green tones
Reflecting signs of life and youth
Looking soft, tender and non-aggressive
Signifying kindness and patience
Love and affection
Maybe imbedded with a little jealousy
Because of the admiration for
The vibrance and brightness of some other colours
Every colour has its dream
The green colour also has its dream
An increasing touch of splendour from sunlight
And maybe some hearty attention
from man
Whoever is a nature lover

floating within my eyes
room within a bare skull
came the lover of thoughts
'image yourself within
waters surrounded by giant
skies...'
greenery ate urban
i loved my lover here
with legs of understanding
and a neck of pure Love
i licked the cellophane
flowers within her eyes
caught between my head
and ate her hot sun
so caught i am i said
while phantom eyes
said, "HI!"
waving shore men
wept
while greenery ate urban

The old tree
Too wither for the sun
Too thick for the rain
Too big for the wind
Too old for the oldies to tell stories
Too bristle for the youngsters to climb upon
Too shady and blocking for the view of the road
Too many leaves for the sweepers
Too dangerous for the lightning
Too big for the children to embrace
Have to give way to safety and developments
An old stump is left
A soothing greenery is lost
But the laughters it once brought
Remain in the mind of the children

I was lost in exotic lush greenery,
And quite lost in my deep thoughts,
Yet aware of the blossoming scenery,
Of riverbank stones slimy with moss.
I was lost in woods, nature's heart,
Gone green out of civilized society,
Off to myself, amidst natural arts,
Along an obscure pathway of quietly.
I was knee deep in jaded backroads,
Awash in sun in meditation meadow,
Until I stumbled on the black rose-
As rare as moonlight on a rainbow!

Greenery
We drove for hours,
and…
lost our way twice.
Dad grumbled beneath
his breath, quietly,
or was he praying?
No one dared to ask,
Where…
Where we may end…
(quietly, gazing out of the car)
our grand quest,
our merry adventure?
Tree hunting,
garland strings of pine,
and the smell of
all things holiday…
Mix the same exactly,
as they did then,
to make a memory,
I now,
miss my whole life.
