Grasshoppers
Green grasshoppers glide gracefully over the ground,
Their glossy gossamer wings glitter all around,
Their glassy feathers generate grandiose sound,
Like glorious gladiators, some golden gowned
gorgeous grigs gallop in their gluttonous manner,
Other garish brown ones glow like grimy scanner
as they hover in swarms like a greasy banner,
Best, stay away from grasshoppers - that's

grasshoppers and ants
Grasshopper and the ants were having a laid-back day
They did what they wanted, snoozing and snoring away
The meadow was breezily uplifting, sharing her grasses.
I like being here with my friends, the lads and the lasses.

Short Horned Grasshoppers
The short-horned grasshoppers are here.
Not a great morn to walk with the deer.
They came in a form
A gigantic swarm.
Taunting, laughing, ready to jeer.

Grasshoppers
Grasshoppers.
friday a.m.
cumulonimbus sky palaces
heavy with promise
glide teasingly above Wild Enough.
thirty days of thirst beg to be quenched
the trees are tinder
and grass will burn like excelsior
the local ants worry
about low levels in the neighbourhood well.
friday p.m.
then the grasshoppers come
the summer ones
pouring out of the cities
they roar up to their summer palaces
in dusty blood spattered chariots
grim

Grasshoppers At Christmas
Grasshoppers at Christmas
Hopping to the melodies of the season
Celebrating the newborn King and all the gifts that He brings
Enthusiastically playing their back legs as violin strings
Creating the most elegant symphony
Behold the babe lying in the manger is Christ the King!
To Him is due all the holiday enthusiasm
He holds the keys to my heart
And the keys

I Am Chasing Grasshoppers
I am chasing grasshoppers in the yard
Such a fun filled thing
The grasshopper always one jump ahead
And I, panting hard
Only want a couple to bring
And set before my students' eyes
So they may look and realize
The investment God has made in us
And bridge the vault of fear with trust.

Grasshoppers On Parade
On this warm autumn day,
relaxing in the sun so fine.
Watching grasshoppers
going to and fro.
Getting ready for
winter, by having a parade.
My dogs don't seem to
mind, thinking only of
other scents to take in.
Breezes waving by
me, as is grasshoppers
on their yearly parade.
Walking in my yard
taking my steps
so carefully,
as not to step
on these amazing
creatures and
to ruin grasshoppers
parade

Startled Grasshoppers
A floral blanket of silence
Lies out across the desert
Nothing moves-not air
Nor trees
Nor blades of grass
The ogre’s breath is held
Suspended, then expelled
Stomping his feet,
Flashing his eyes,
Grumbling, the ogre
Blows
And, grumbling, cries
Fat sheeted tears –
Trees quickly bow
Shaken green heads as
The silent blanket erupts
In oceanic waves
Of startled grasshopper minions
