Everyone grieves in their own way
that’s a fact not a belief…
Which means there is not date of completion
no timeline for our grief…
To all the thought and prayers
those who’ve suffered a loss might be receiving…
Today I’m grateful to add
this Native American Prayer of grieving:
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still…I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone…
I am with you still…in each new dawn.

snow softly falls white
shimmering dust that coats all
glints in early moon
altering our perception
of our familiar landscapes
young tree limbs soon bend
under the weight they carry
as midnight passes
slow softening the edges
of disappearing landscapes
blanket now complete
undulating white vista
as the dawn reveals
memories we need to see
our now forgotten landscapes

The horizon is a blade—
it glints whether I run toward it
or watch it withdraw.
Each dawn splits me open,
spilling a slow trickle of salt,
as if the sea is feeding me to itself,
one grain at a time.
I know the undertow’s handwriting—
it pulls not to drown,
but to measure how far my lungs will stretch.
Even in absence,
the shore presses its ghost lips
to the soles of my feet,
branding me with wet fire.
The days arrive like heavy-winged birds,
falling or flying—it makes no difference.
Either I am lifted
or I am stitched to the air by wanting.
Both keep me in motion.
So tell me—
how could I curse the water
when even the ebb feels like an arrival,
and every hunger it leaves behind
is proof my compass still works?

I recount the nights of faint, distant glows —
the dimmed party lights of summer —
of silenced streaks of fleeing light, tassels of clouds
adorned in fleeting whites,
on the broad balcony of the west, when the
incidents on the large vestibule of the sun sum up
their lives and times on seasons’ palimpsests.
The wild party closes by the stretch of the twenty-first hour.
Darkness, frightened, creeps in with the stealth of a departing thief,
the coyness and diffidence of an undocumented harlot.
Twilight aids the shut eyes of young irreverent bats;
drunk with summer's furiously spouting liquors,
like the denizens of an unclothed city, they fly low,
with gambolling wings, propelled by unseen strands of evening gales,
shadowing briefly the glints of pimping stars eager to witness the next day’s
orgy.

white and soft
New ones form,
then fade
Feathery edges
sweep across
Silver light glints
Grey shadows drift

Len’s Story
Once upon a time I said we should wed
Your pretty face blushed as you whispered “yes”
Love for eternity, I promised this
For fifty years we shared married life bliss.
Ours was a perfect match, made in heaven
Gift wrapped in love of the purest essence
Every moment, minute and every hour
Magnificent as a bloom in flower.
It’s lonely without you, hard to go on
Time lingers from dawn to setting of sun
I cherish memories stored in my head
Those glorious treasures forever blessed.
I look at celestial stars every night
Wishing you were in my arms, held tight
On a high cloud in the somewhere above
To hug and kiss you and show you my love.
Our family joy glints through mist of my tears
I’d not change a thing of those precious years
In dreams we dance with arms and hearts entwined
The same as we did, once upon a time.

Sheer sweet delights appear as gossamer nets,
unseen, unheard, not felt with no regrets,
floating on puffs of wind to catch in your hair
before you care to know that they are there.
The warmth of dawn at sunrise.
The laughter of glints in eyes.
The taste you get before you bite.
The jolt of cold feet bare at night.
The déjà vu clicks down memory lane.
The heartbeat lilt before you kiss again.
The wind foreseen in quiver of leaves.
The thunder felt before heard in eaves.
The stings on a cheek as snow flakes land.
The sneaky touch of child's hand-in-hand.
So let the sheer ephemeral delights come,
to see what taste, feel, hear and see, can become
when you set your awareness alertness on high,
to savor the kiss of bliss that floats on by.

Lyricism of wisteria ruses…peacocking muses gushing tomes
Classicism flocking..roams & woos homes not garden gnomes
Colourful creepers cruising..schmoozing with boisterously blushing bricks
Spring exudes mysticism..oozes oodles of bamboozling serendipity flushing
Cherished fingers rushing freely..delivers..unctuous ravishingly rambunctious
Relished slivers lavishly lingers..embellished..proudly protrudes
Inspires rhyming platitudes about gratitude...fires fresh
Attitudes across a range of altitudes & latitudes
Sprinkling wryly of vintner's drily sparkle...ends strange debacle...
Skint stints of wily skinflint winter’s splinters..with hints of now..Spring sprints
But also somehow.. if one squints..get an inkling of change..
Glints of summer's tints slyly twinkling

Forget riffs of regrets
But
To the hilt
We tilt to
Inbuilt lilt
A guilt quilt
Can jilt & wilt
But
No tiffs with what ifs
Won’t let you fret
Circumspect.. I find
Older you get
Bet..more honest…more kind
Care more..know more
Late bloomer rumour
Embraces candour...humour
Respect velvety vagaries
Traces of reflect
Suspect future’s the tutor
Detect serendipity the suitor
Evolution..glints of revolution
Pip that convoluted New Year’s tip
Genuinely don’t genuflect
No sorrow...deflect hints
Of mooted rebooted resolution
Suspect Tomorrow might
Be your best day yet!

Caress the stars that twinkle
the sprinkle of glints on seas
the leaf that lilts on gentle breeze
the flit of busy robin's tail
Caress the murmur of babbling brook
the lapping as puppy drinks from bowl
the rolling, rumbling peeling thunder
expectant soon, from pregnant flashes in sky
Caress the smell of rain on straw
the waft of bread baking
the scent of rose brushed by knees
the warmth of sweet baby's breath
Caress the ephemeral
what is seemingly out of reach
too deep to grasp, too far off to behold
a fleeting glimmer, a shimmering shiny sliver on hold.

I see you an inch at a time,
Filling the spaces left in the fence.
Glints of gaudy, plastic play-jewels,
A shimmer of hair trailing past as you run,
The bright, berry-red of a newly-scraped knee.
I’ve not seen your face,
But I see it in sounds coming over the fence,
Humming while filling your teapot with dirt,
Calling to friends that you know you don’t have,
Or chirping “I’m six!” when a bird asks your age.
Sometimes I “see” your house filling with shouts,
And little you crying in never-cut grass,
“I think he’s asleep” whispered under your breath,
And since you’d like someone to say it to you,
“There, there.”
I’ve not see your face,
Yet I see you completely
In the wisps and the calls given off by a life
And what my heart already knows of
Loneliness.

Her smile, the softly ringing bells of her laughter, the newly discovered talismans against encroaching death.
The delicate light, faint but growing, that first lit and warmed her own glowing freckled skin, danced in her eyes like the sea in the summer, bounced off the glints of auburn in her hair until she seemed lighted from the inside like a lantern...and as a lantern would, drove the darkest, heaviest shadows from the corners around her.
Oh...this...SHE...is what is meant by the divinity...in feminity. I see. Her face, these eyes, the heavy slope of these breasts. They are the design that completed creation and made it right. They are beauty and joy and life. The curve of this belly, the unafraid openness of this soul that invites and offers rest. It is comfort and it is peace and it is sacred. At once she is the warm home fire that draws me in and the precious marble statue, cool and pristine, blocked off, in my mind, behind proverbial velvet ropes, art, not for hands like mine to touch...
Oh, but I would die of exhaustion, making her smile, keeping her laughing...and humbly watching her gentle, holy light.

Locked behind the gate, a jewel lies hidden.
The wind emits a mutter of love smitten.
A shadow plays a game of hide and seek,
With a tantalizing prod, and a sneak peek
That glints a sparkle from par buried gem.
Amidst the interplay of black and white, lies the mayhem,
Of a memento of love lost, jewel lost, diadem forsaken.

I can see you by the window from the outside
Squinting, smiling through the sunlight
You could see me in the corner of your eye
But I'm miles away from the sight
What’s the news, how is your blood glucose
How did you sleep last night
You can’t hear my voice I suppose
You’d appreciate how hard I have tried
You don’t hear me, but I can see you
All your worries are over and done
On the leaves glints the fresh morning dew
Garden flowers bloom out in the sun.
