Snails

Somewhere
In our universe
There will always be
Gastropods:

Down-to-ground
Intelligent lifeforms
Who feel
And think
That existence depends
On their
Very smart
Oh, so very smart
Tummies!

Premium Member Slow To Market

For hand cream, one extract is best,
but slow as a snail’s pace to test.
Just go to your garden
and beg for their pardon.
The gastropods? Somewhat depressed…

Rid wrinkles and loose skin with ease;
our essence has sailed the high seas.
If your skin entails
much flapping and flails,
we won’t hang you out in the breeze!

If nothing else, I do amuse myself! Anaya’s comment on Fresh Sea Greases brought out ideas for two more skin care products, based on what was typed (‘sail extract’) and what was likely meant (’snail extract’), lol. There really are hand cremes with snail extract! Snails are gastropods. I haven’t seen any sail extract hand cream, but I haven’t looked that hard either!

I have a bunch of snails in my home, he said.
I would not know what to do I replied. What have you done?
So far, I am classifying then into categories red.
I have squid, octopus and gastropods too, he said, for fun.

I was shocked and horrified, wondering about his house.
Are they salt water, fresh water or land beings? I queried.
They are frightening, scary, and they chase my mouse.
I saw one run past and It was clammy and harried.

Let’s have tea at my house I promptly suggested.
As an oversized octopus climbed out of his kitchen sink.
I am going crazy he replied. I feel I am being tested.
What is your opinion? What do you think?

Kaleidoscope of Life

Kaleidoscope of Life.
And behind the forest sings that nothing is the way you think
and try as you might make love to one you do not love gives
a feeling of lost time, of a useless pursuit of finding happiness in
momentarily lust that leaves nothing but melancholy behind.
The coir of the forest knew this, nymphs sang about it warning
you, cheap pleasure too dear for your soul as summer dust on
asphalt road, bleak as the word of love uttered by a tart in
a nightclub of gaudy gastropods and dancing long tailed rodents.

Dew on straw and deeper into the woodland walk to find Dryads
or best of all Meliae, the sweetest aroma, but her kisses sting your
lips if she´s upset with your craving for more. Be careful of Lempo,
the Finnish archer god, he is capricious and likes honey too.
On a stone she sits, the siren of deep tarns, her smile is deadly close
your eyes and run for your life, her former suitors sleep in silt.

A Hard Color To Rhyme

Royalty, it brings to mind
A flowing robe; the regal kind
Or lent when it’s draped upon the cross
A symbol of impending loss
Or a song about a “people eater”
Done in 1950’s meter
Or when you’re mixing red and blue
This color then comes shining through
In ancient times you’d squeeze a pail
Of the spiny dye-murex snail
The mucus from these gastropods
Dyed the clothes of demigods
Prince (you know that’s not his name)
Sang about this color rain
If you want a rhyme, my only tip
“The small of the waist before the flare of the hip”
Now I could go on with hint after hint
But by now you should know this color tint
