He melts my heart
as l watch his Dressage
his graceful presence true
of intelligence, faithful, beautiful
He was once a warhorse
of medieval times
but now a gentle giant
where personality shines
He's a Horse for Kings
with flowing mane and tail
in the Battle of Mohacs
no courage fail
The Black Beauty knew
past Knights rode proud
his sheer beauty grew
Friesian Horse
........................so beautiful

Can I say this is a Friesian,
that one a Hereford?
I lived so long in a town
and can say I have forgotten
my recollection as I wander in streets
among cars and bikes.
And yet am I so much missing
beings with four legs,
and those hooves that clomp
when stomping in the road,
ambling from one of those green fields -
chewed down a little now -
to another;
beings with their beauty,
yes, beauty that moves with abundant grace?

A handsome ebony stallion, Frederick the Great,
honors the Prussian monarch of the same name.
He never has trouble finding a mare for a date,
this Friesian stud of notable celebrity and acclaim.
He turns many curious heads wherever he goes
Curly mane and tail flowing when he is running
but Frederick gladly stops to strike a noble pose.
He's magnificently beautiful, perfectly stunning!
Trained in Dressage, but he loves to run free
Frederick is worthy of all the honors I bestow.
He even had his name in lights on a Marquee
when he made an appearance on the Late Show
He's a gentle giant who loves to give kisses
At the age of twenty, he takes center stage
Frederick loves the ladies, but has no misses,
but might find a sweetie on his face book page.

Drunken fairies flutter by hedges,
Friesian heifers graze grass to the edges
Of fields where tufts of meadow grass grow,
Smothering weeds and roots below.

Vinny Rogers was a dairy man who milked three hundred cows.
Share farming with his son Bernie who put in the milking hours.
Now Bernie was adventurous; he liked his teenage fun.
He owned a car; paid off a boat - he also brought himself a gun.
Bernie you be careful
when you’re loading up that gun.
You've got to know your distance
and what damage can be done.
This gun was something special; more power than a three-o-three.
The bullets were more piercing said the spiel that he showed me.
The bore was mighty larger than his old twenty-two -
Bernie scanned the paddocks to see what this gun could do.
Bernie you be careful
when you’re loading up that gun.
You've got to know your distance
and what damage can be done.
Well it wasn't very long before, his first kill he's going to boast,
when he took aim at a crow that sat upon a corner post -
the bullet fired; the gun recoiled, and the crow is spun around.
Bernie heard the bellow from beyond - and saw their Friesian bull go down.
Bernie you be careful
when you’re loading up that gun.
You've got to know your distance
and what damage can be done.

Down in the puddle of a Pig pen hole,
Caught me a Fish with a garden Mole.
The Fish got battered by a chip shop man,
Ate it for supper watching Jackie Chan.
Chan was fighting in a Kung Fu style,
Stylish and lean with broad beam smile.
Smiler is a cool Cat from Paris, France,
Frenchie plays piano at the ladies’ dance.
Tango with a Widow lady cheek to cheek,
Gracious man of 85 could dance all week.
Gracie is a Gibbon from Chester Zoo,
Serving up Bananas like young Apes do.
Bananas fall from trees in Costa Rica,
Costa has a Coffee house, selling Arabica.
Lawrence from Arabia has a dairy farm,
Keeps his Friesian herd in the cattle barn.
Shutters on the barn kept the cows awake,
Daisy Cow’s escape was a big mistake.
Mistaken for a Rat, kicked a garden Mole,
Down in the puddle of a Pig pen hole.

The Andalusian tops my list,
So elegant with eyes like mist;
But the Quarter horse isn’t far behind,
Praised for their intelligent mind;
And next we have the Cleveland Bay,
Wonderful sport horses are they;
The Warmblood’s are a canny cross,
Drafts and thoroughbreds with sauce;
And the Lusitano can’t be beat,
Their temperament is usually sweet;
The Paso Fino with gaits of gold,
Their heaven to ride, or so I’m told;
The Fell Pony is solid black,
And the perfect size to carry a pack;
The Paint’s are sure a colorful set,
From black to blonde and even brunette;
The Arabian is dainty yet strong,
Hot blooded but with them you can’t go wrong;
And the Friesian with it’s feathered feet,
Now makes my list of ten complete!
