Why is a rose a symbol of love?
Is it the lushious velvety red color?
Is it the beautiful spiral the petals make?
Or is it the gestures that come with the rose?
Why are roses the common flower for Valentine's Day?
Is it perhaps the same in general?
My interpretation of the rose is quite deeper.
The stem being the point in time where we first connect The thorns being the obstacles we face together.
The lushious velvety red color being the happiness and color of our beaming faces on our wedding day.
And the beautiful swirling petals being the illustrious and amazing life we live together.

He will turn around with tears because you are so special to him.
May love be the first and last thought of your day.
You will have struggles, but each struggle comes with a gift. These gifts may be at first hard to see at first, but they will make you stronger.
Your love and life will be transformed as you go through life hand in hand, wondering what is next because living life is more than your dreams.
May your milestones in life are those working together as a family.
May the only scars you see in life being in the hands from heaven, holding you up on your journey.

A long time ago,
A boy met a Lady, They Danced and drank and met up daily,
Laughter filled their lungs, as they acted a little crazy,
Soon time began to fly by lately,
Although in their 20s they dreaded turning eighty,
One day a ring appeared in the boy’s hand, rather shaky,
Please my darling girl marry me Baby,
The wedding was merry, and full with friends and family,
And of course the best matey,
The boy became a man the day he held his first baby,
Life was grand and as sweet as the ocean and sand,
Although the couple prayed daily life became rather racy,
And here we are my dear husband, Mi. Lady,
Although a few memories have become a little hazy,
They remain each year in my heart filling it with gayety,
And my love remains like the blooms of a fresh daisy.

My mother was talking to her friend and I was drawing fruit on an Izal toilet roll.
Only because we didn’t have any writing paper and Izal because it was the cheapest
Unfortunately it was shiny and thin
And my wax crayons wouldn’t stay on it very well so I had to press down hard to colour the fruit in.
The friend said why is she doing that on the toilet roll?
My mother replied, she’s different.
I went to a cousins wedding with my mother and I wore white flat shoes that were too big
The woman next door had given them.
I stuffed the confetti into the toes
Aunt Mary was watching and raised her brows, sniffed her nose
And said, why is she doing that with the confetti?
My mother sighed and replied, she’s different.
I read the Bunty book annual, a Christmas gift at that time. It had an address for R.A.D.A.
I wrote and asked for an audition to act out in a play
Whilst waiting for a reply my parents took us all to live in South Africa a long way away.
My father questioned, why is she so angry
My mother said, she’s different.
My mother died at the age of 90, my father gone ten years before
I cried when they wheeled her coffin past my pew
And thought of how she never cuddled me as I grew
I guess it was because my mother too
was different.

i always wondered what it would be like to be loved by you
i was at your wedding when you said 'i do' with the most radiant smile
i saw you love passionately and give your husband your all
i remember having wet dreams about you in many settings and situations
i recall trying to flirt with you and you wondering what the hell i was looking at
i lost count of all of the times you turned me on with your great taste and style
i wish i could forget the tears you shed when your husband broke your heart
i viewed you pulling yourself together
i applauded you as you slowly found your strength to set yourself free
i sent you a card when got your nursing degree and a better job
i congratulated you as you rose up and you came up further
i think back of all the times that you crept up in my thoughts
i saw you at the seafood place one day and you waved me over
i admit to the fact that i almost peed on myself when you did
from that day forward, neither one of us ever looked back
now i am living the dream of being loved by you
your now ex-husband was a blind fool to not see the depths of the love you give
