Your country needs you lads, let Lord Kitchener tell you more
Come forward, join the ranks and we’ll send you off to war
You’re fighting for salvation; you’ve got Jesus on your side
Remember that in battle; let the shepherd be your guide
Join up with your pals lads and march in time with pride
You’re Ulster Presbyterians, so, the lord with you abide
We’ll muster at the Shipyard so that everyone can see
Then continue to the Farmyards and the local Factory
You’re young, or even younger, than the army will allow
You look a little older since you smoke tobacco now
We’ll put you in a uniform and show you how to drill
We’ll teach you to be brave and then train you how to kill
Say goodbye to your family and prepare to sail away
You’ll fall in on the Western front and join the great affray
Although you may be seventeen, we’ve made you into men
Yet most of you will never see your mothers face again
A visit to Lidl, can seem like a riddle
But I like to browse through the aisles in the middle
Where you may find farmyards and little toy zoos
Right next to pair of size 5 ladies shoes
The range in the middle seems muddled and weird
The padlocks sit next to a small plastic beard
But I’ve just discovered the madness had spread
The grocery aisles have messed with my head
If you have gone there to chat up female singles
You will not impress with their own branded Pringles
Their fresh eggs are packaged like nothing I’ve seen
Who buys their eggs in a pack of fifteen
It does make some sense to have band-aids for bunions
But what is the purpose of onion-less onions
Pardon me……
Did u just see……….
A flock of lies,
A murder of fleas,
Swarm together,
To descend, on a farmland of truth.
brimmed up minds with ideas uncouth.
Pardon me……
Did u just see……….
Lessons, learning, emotions & love
Devouvered.
Pardon me……
Did u just see……….
Amidst misty backdrops the sun shivers,
As the silent breeze in the cold quivers.
Between the dawn and sunlight,
Lies trapped a day of anticipated surprise.
Pardon me……
Did u just see……….
As moments drop past……
The tangerine sunlight.
Pardon me……
Did u just see……….
As farmyards of life bask in sunlight,
Mind chokes in dark ideas not so bright.
A flock of lies……….
Another crushing blow for the truth ...but it never dies….
Sunshine drifted through the marred pane;
Diffused, wavering, casting shadows in the room,
Wandering through the corners and the closet.
Spring arrived suddenly in this prairie land,
Melting dirty piles of old snow,
Turning farmyards into sloppy mires of mud.
Fresh air rushed into the old barn
Raising small, golden bits of last year’s hay,
Bringing tears to the man milking the black and white cow.
Lilacs sat upon the dinner table that night,
Lingering scent on the hands of the old woman who cut them;
Promising winter is now behind.
