From way down in "Bama"
Stirring echoes of Big Mama
A thunderous storm that brewed from the Deep South
Each word could be felt when it left her mouth
With her immense presence, showmanship, and confidence
She would capture the hearts and minds of her audience
She stood tall, shoulder to shoulder amongst the sultans of Blues
She didn't have to pretend or put on 'cause she stood comfortably in her shoes
A woman, a beautiful black woman oozing with creativity and soul
In her kitchen, she took lemons and made pitcher after pitcher of sweet lemonade that she always served cold
Oh, Big Mama you brought that good medicine to the soul when you sang
You bellowed melodies that reached up and tugged on them heartstrangs
Oh, Big Mama I see ya' cookin' with your horn, too
Blowin', just blowin' so beautifully like only a few
You were so good that some felt a need to copy you and steal your money
Shameful shadowy expressions of a "Hound Dog" depraved music industry
Never to be replicated or duplicated
One of one, you were, but still, you're often imitated
From way down in "Bama"
Still goes stirring echoes of Big Mama
They sung for the Lord in the synagogues
Raising mixed feelings to the music analysts
Voices mattered less, the message more precious
Preached his word in the land
The sacrifices they made to secure life!
In moments of trial, they testified of his goodness
Seeking his comfort when times were darker
Faith led their ways, hope guided their motives;
God was good in the old days,
He still was good in their days, resistant to change
He would forever be good!
Unmoved by threats, ready to battle for him,
The victory, he would grant them
Eternal peace was their prize,
So they bowed to human destruction,
Holding their flags firmly still.
Travel and dance
When the spirit leads me
I travel with time
I move so naturally high
I feel all blessings nature gives
I never leave my soul cold
I just dance away my sorrows
Travel and dance
When the music hit me
I travel with happiness
I free up my mind
I need no negative air
Cos I have a natural highness
With sweet melodies
And that can be visible
Without my dance moves
Excuse me dance
I need to travel in time
...As the years went by Nick’s playing
came less often, as he wandered,
he just became a vagabond,
going to almshouses in winter.
That’s how he came to Watertown
in the sad last year of his life,
they say he didn’t play at all,
many felt pity at his plight.
There even was a well-dressed man,
white-haired, and getting on in years,
who came looking for Nick Goodall,
and in that sad poorhouse appeared.
They say he took Nick’s violin,
and played it so the notes were heard,
said, “Nick, don’t you remember this?
And how we played it together?”
Nick then took up the violin,
and ones more played beautiful airs,
some say the man was his father,
he was never seen again there.
Why Goodall died, nobody knows,
he was given a pauper’s grave,
some folk looked at his violin
to understand how well he played.
But they found nothing special there,
the viol was a common kind,
the beauty that he’d drawn from it
was born out of his troubled mind.
After he died they raised money,
for a grave, he had been broke, of course,
in local folklore Nick remains:
The Mad Fiddler of the North.
I went past them tonight. There was like ten
Or maybe twelve. Few girls, but mostly boys
It's dark outside, but mild enough for men
To go out without coats on. It annoys
Some people just to see them there. They had
Some music playing - wasn't very loud
It didn't look like they were being bad
Just sat together in a little crowd
As kids have always done and we did too
(It's more fun in the summer when the nights
Are lighter and there seems like more to do)
Not breaking things or getting into fights
Just doing epic wheelies up and down

...If felt like the whole of his foundation had collapsed,
and not many people can recover from that,
first he turned to his music, so he’d not have to think,
when that wasn’t enough he grew more fond of the drink.
It got to the point that Jack started to realize
that behind shallow pleasures he could no longer hide.
But the pain of changing he could endure no more,
one day his manager found him cold on the floor,
his chest they compressed, his heart just wouldn’t just-start,
there was no fight left in him, no will for the art.
People just clucked,”He joined the Twenty-Seven Club.
Oh, why can’t the young talent stay clear of the drugs?”
They craved something sweet
Something specail
A one of a kind lady deserves
Specail things for a specail lady
Madagascar vanilla for
A treat
Weather with cream or
Or with chocalate
Strawberries
Or flavor in your
Favorite sauce
Or make that
Kuril island toast
With pound cake
Toasted hazelnuts
Whiskey and coconuts
Kamchatka cream
and of course chocalate
Everyone will love you
Everyone will
Want more
She bragged about
Enjoying the embarrassment
Of being rich
She spoke of
Opportunities
That were available
To her thru those
Trends that complimented
What she already knew
And wasn't nervous
About doing
Her strengths were
The Reas n she bragged.
Her weaknesses came from
Those fears she kept hidden
Treasures the shame of
Wealth
Those who long for my
Attention are unattractive
And poor
There needs my ability to
Exploit?
Or might I provide service
To help those who need it.

Hindleggs of
The goat shall
Be brined in
Wine, salts, sugars, honey
Cayenne, garlic, onion
Celery's and peppers
Rosemary, thyme, bay leaves
And the rest of citruses
Perched to cure
The Gods and Goddess
Of gossip minds you.

Making Waves
Sexy dancer to the waves.
See how she moves to the music.
Base turned up full boom boomboom!
Even when she’d driving, she dances.
Her stereo on full while she nods her head.
She’s the stereo loving gal and don’t we know it?
Her job is her life in a Go-Go bar.
Watch her turn, wiggle and dive for the punters.
Pay her a dollar and she’ll suck, buck and you.
Doing this and more to the tunes.
Her body is the ocean and her soul the wind.
Her moods match these and she always gets her way.
This gal isn’t poor or stupid.
Because she owns everything in the joint.
The bar, the stereo, the band, the songs, the punters.
She looks like a whore.
Anyone else wouldn’t be like this.
Except for a naïve innocent teen used and abused.
It’s high class illusion.
Part of the show and old routine.
No more or less is given by Sexy Sultry Sharon.
In her bar by the sea.
She does six shows a night.
Bearing all and more for the likes of you and me.
So off we go to her bar.
Bring all your cash and an open mind.
You’re in for the night of your life so don’t be late!
LESS ABOUT YESTERDAY AND MORE ABOUT NOW
SHE DEMANDED THAT HE RESTORE HIS OWN
DIGNITY BY BEING THE MAN SHE MARRIED
MIGHT YOU SEEM MORE WILLING AND LESS UNLIKELY
OR MIGHT YOU UNDERSTAND INSTEAD OF OVER DOING.
THOSE WHO'S YESTERDAY'S HAVE NAMED THEM AS SUCH
MIGHT THEY THEN BE GIVING THE SAME CHANCES AS THOSE WHO ARE LESS TAINTED.
PAVO THE STARS OF SPRING SHINE ABOVE THEE
MIGHT THE NIGHTS OF SPRING HAVE YOU WITH
SOMEONE WHO IS EQUAL TO YOU IN AGE, IN VISION, AND IN
A DESIRE TO UNDERSTAND.
MIGHT YOU ALIGN YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE
WHO WISH NOT TO MAKE YOU STRANGE
OR LABEL YOU AS DIFFERENT SO THAT THEY MIGHT
INFLICT THERE WILL UPON YOU.
PRAY YE GOD THAT THESE SATANS BE FOUND
AND THERE PLANS AGAINST NOT SEE DOING
MIGHT THOSE WHO DECEIVE BY LYING ABOUT THERE AGES, THERE WEALTH AND THERE
WELL BEING NOT CAUSE YOU TO BE ILL
MIGHT THE WISDOM OF PEOPLE SPEAK TO STOP THE PLANS OF
SATANIC PEOPLE
WHO WISH YOU COUPLED
THEN MIGHT THE CONSTELLATIONS OF EVERYNIGHT IN SPRING, SUMMER AUTUMN AND WINTER BRING PEERS OF YOUR AGE AND OF LEGAL AGE TO
BE THE KEEPSAKE IN THE RELATIONSHIP WHICH WILL BE PROSPEROUS AND
HEALTHY.
