loving yourself is not easy
you have to lose yourself first
in something you adore
a hobby that you can do by yourself
something that engrosses you
that you can do for eight hours
eight hours?
yes!
at least, maybe more
I can draw cartoons for eight hours
I can paint for eight hours
I can write poetry for eight hours
There are lots of things I cannot do for eight hours
Those are things that do not help me love myself
Knowing this, I concentrate on the things I adore
The hobbies that I can do
by myself, with myself
and for myself
If you have not found these hobbies yet,
it is time to get started.

Quote: I know there is a place for me in this world, as I am needed. – Speaks Volumes (Wendy Horder)
-------
She is lover of family, sharp in thinking new
Perhaps a bit sharp in words, unmerciful too
Even before you think that you do know her well
All about your heart is calculated by her still
Knowing world better, her fact-finder job was swell
She is spirited, pious, lively & rhymes well
Vigor, value, family & friends she admires
Oblivious to concerns of health, she inspires
Little does she fear, stubborn doter, dog lover
Ultimate love is her quality gem, artless dear
More than anything else she adores poetry
Engrosses in shape-poetry & mystery
She loves humor, wit, wisdom, above all her country.

The emerald forest uniquely mystique,
shrouded by the serene seclusion screen,
the aura of surreal stillness it spreads,
envelops me as I wander.
The rippling breeze beguiling,
engrosses with its charming cadence
my essence lost in the wilderness,
getting suffused with the nectar of rhapsody.
I walk on the fawn forest path
in the shadow of the ancient trees,
shedding the wilted ochre leaves
at the end of their verdant time.
My footsteps crumple the pile,
make the music of aloneness
for my beleaguered journey within,
I am yet to finish.
At the sunset hour ticking away,
I saunter out of the forest
toward the horizon of obscurity,
to the timeless sanctum of serenity.
In the final flash of the twilight tinge,
I walk the last mile
on the remnant time-track of life,
as the forlorn traveler of destiny.

Pure
white winged
Archangel
glides in the air
Unfurls happiness
every where it hovers
Enchanting shape it has
Engrosses our eyes
Orange tipped wings
manifest
when it
feasts

A hundred years of praying,
A hundred years of song,
A hundred years' faith conveying,
And all the days were long!
A hundred years of fireflies,
A hundred years of red roses,
A hundred years of marmalade skies,
And God's love engrosses!
Reverend Hegstrom then, and Pastor Gorder now,
The very first unto the last,
And also those to follow,
Present, future, past.
Baptisms, weddings and special celebrations,
Through all the fiery sunsets;
In God's house, His glorification,
And the past never forgets.
Here we now celebrate 100 years of bliss
At Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park,
And we feel the thrill of His kiss,
And witness the skyward lark!

a painting resonates our own life dreams
this born out of a crazy time of teens
a sculpture reconstructs a deep fervor
all grown from a sensory observer
a song evokes a longing a passion
encouraging immediate action
a poem paints and colors a free mind
and sometimes a slow memory rewind
a book engrosses intimate senses
breaking down your limiting defenses
a movie escapes life reality
transforming an imagination free
criticism is reserved for family
they alone turn happy to fallacy

Bumpy roads and dead end streets;
Candy kisses with tasty treats.
Rocket thrushes to worlds unknown;
Soft embraces that felt like home.
Lusty wishes enchanting eyes;
Pounding hearts and hopeful sighs.
Grown up wishes with childish minds;
But love engrosses for she’s of your kind.
So its diamonds rings with fluid rhymes;
And circles joined for all of time.
Dreamt up heavens with love sublime;
But those perfect dreams you may not find.
They try so hard but it’s them that they lose;
So they sit at those cross roads unable to choose.
Wondering what happened did they miss any clues.
While searching the rubble for things they may use.
Time defends the ear so there never is news.
And I’m trapped in this painting of all empty pews
