Premium MemberMy Friends Are These Squirrels

I really often love to cross country
here in Scotland, that's not very far
Dunfermline is a place I'm fond of
home of Carnegie, it's brightest star

Carnegie gave the town a park
it's so large, lovely and green
full of birds of many different types
but there was a special one I seen

These were lovely grey squirrels
so often loved to have a walk
round this beautiful green park
looked as if they wanted to talk

They acted as if they knew you
looking for a feed of a nut or two
trees were their favourite climb
amazing watching them so in time

Such a delight watching them
scampering around all over the place
this is nature at its most appealing
seeing all its creatures at their pace

Premium MemberThe Free Bus Across Country

It's one of the plus's of living in Scotland
if you are over the 60 plus age band
travel is free from John O'Groats to Dumfries
giving one the opportunity having a free hand

In a land like Scotland full of great scenery
rugged mountainside and lochs so deep
surrounded by oceans east and west
the Atlantic and the North Sea are a mighty leap

So, my favourite trips are to Inverness and Perth
also love Dunfermline, Andrew Carnegie's town
Edinburgh the capital with its wonderful castle
many lovely places in the borders to be found

Being brought up in the county of Ayrshire
I love to go back and walk Irvine's beach
also back to Kilmarnock bring the memories back
there my home town kept me on the right track

So the buses with its many numbers
taking us over 60s far and near
deckers single and double all for free
blessed trips always forever in top gear

Alison Patrick

Alison completed the triathlon in Rio,
With Hazel Smith, her guide athlete,
‘Cos she’s visually impaired, not solo,
And so needs Hazel to see the beat.

She comes from Dunfermline, Scotland,
Hazel comes from Edinburgh, capital,
She loves to sing whilst a cooking hand,
And worked as a physiotherapist vital.

She wanted to be a runner, but injuries,
Prevented this, so she took up triathlon,
With her friends’ persuasion, frivolities,
In 2014 it quickly became her profession.

Alison collected the bronze in Kitzbühel,
Austria, at the ETU European Champs,
And still in that year, 2014, a gold bushel,
In Edmonton at the ITU World Champs.

2015, and Alison struck pure gold again,
At the ETU European Champs, Geneva,
And then at the Chicago ITU World den,
She took for the two of ‘em another silver.

2016 and the ITU Worlds in Rotterdam,
The Netherlands, and Alison won gold;
She trains in Loughborough’s stadium,
And was born in 1987 as eighties bold.

Premium MemberPittencrieff Park

Really love travelling across Scotland
from here in the west across to the east
Dunfermline my fav place over in Fife
just being there you don't want to cease

Pittencrieff Park I really love it
so full of grass taking many a route
uphill and down breathe in cool air
many tree types bear seed from root

It's famous son purchased it 1902
then gave it back to his home town
Andrew Carnegie world billionaire
left with little to U.S. to gain crown

So much wildlife around to feast upon
grey squirrels, many birds among woodland
lovely brook runs throughout the ground
water trickling over stones so grand

So that's something of my favorite place
bringing one a sense of it's worth
fun and peace for all the family
memories to kindle one all from birth

(Just some thoughts on my favorite park in Scotland to go and walk to enjoy its nature.
The Andrew Carnegie statue in the park for he bought the park for the people of his home town Dunfermline.)
