Sweetly but no longer dazzling our eyes
Energy ebbing ,her motivation low
Putting out colours which do not surprise
That her less vibrant hues no more do glow
Embracing dull, sedate and sombre dresses
Mocking us, her nature being to tease
By slowly doffing her brighter tresses
Each voyeur rapt with her strip to please
Relish her seasonal seductive dance
Full of fluttering russet ,brown and gold
And her brazen and denuding stance
Letting the dowager become so bold
Leaving onlookers in a stunning trance
So that they fall for her siren romance

Gaslight room
you had it all
the laughing and dancing
You gave me words
but no tune
How time goes by
when you're trying to enjoy yourself
Doffing your head
its the madness without a glint
The gamblers are playing a winning game
They say your love cant fit
Playing the mandolin
The only crime is being blindfolded
washed down your stale wine

When I am old
I will not worry about the future
I will make each day count for more
I will stand proud and have no regret
I will strive to help the wandering poor.
When I am old
I will extend my hand in friendship
I will smile when I walk down the street
I will guard the unnecessary words I speak
I will find some good in everyone I meet.
Who am I kidding?
I am scared to death of what tomorrow brings
I sleep late and catch that afternoon nap
My back aches; I wish I had done this or that
Woe is me; I am the poor fellow doffing my cap.
Who am I kidding?
My hand in friendship shakes like a leaf
When I smile I fear I will lose my teeth
I have earned the right to speak my mind
I must scurry along lest I be left behind.

The ghost of Lincolnshire's Daughter
Tonight smiles from her grave
With the locking of iron gates
Ends a plan that she made
Every father passed to his son
A family craft that was unbroken
Doffing of peaks, kept in line
With the banksman's pit token
Then with questions of fairness
Would lead to great losses
They would stand toe to toe
With their betters and pit bosses
Westminster Right would revel
In a working class decline
Pomposity and misuse of
Yorkshire's Thin Blue Line
So with lungs blackened with dust
A once strong Union's last stand
They walked out lamenting
To tunes of the colliery brass band

He stepped to the plate and spit on his han's.
He spit doffing his cap to cheering fans.
Gave his privates a scratch
Spit another huge batch,
Then knocked a home run clean outta the stan's!

You live today,
Still,
On
Past glory.
Like an old man, in a cafe,
Wrapped, capped, wizened
– and lonely,
You pay for your bill
By telling old stories
Again
And
Again,
Tipping by doffing.
