That awful dream returned last night
The one in which, pursued, I fight
to find my voice and try to shout
but not a single word comes out
I’m powerless to flee this foe
and yet his face I surely know
For decades he has followed me
when there seemed no equality
A fairer shot, an equal wage
Injustices had set the stage
to disenfranchise my voice now
by any means laws will allow
I’d like to say as tensions mount
my ballot’s cast, but will it count?
This is my vote; I have a voice
Are you afraid to hear my choice?
Now for my foe, a tab’s come due
Don’t let him strip your rights from you!
Groaning and mourning
Separate body from mind
Joking, poking and rocking
Calm nerves, propping me up to find
My way back home
Where I cavort into the comfort
Body and mind need to roam
Free of the discomfort
I encounter when from home I stray
Hoping to delight my heart, to leave the past behind
When to my God I pray
As in stock I nurture no axes to grind
With either friend, fiend or foe
In sane circumstances and distances
Ensuring hoe and woe
Disenfranchise no gallant glances whose dances
Ascertain body and mind cooperate
In perfect union with objectives
I’ve set to operate
Within modicum motives
Driving initiatives I take
Within the ambit of my powers
To correct a mysterious mistake
Concealed in favourite flowers
I tendered to my secret admirer
To placate misgivings she expressed when I broke the news
We were no longer interested in views held by the inquirer
Who chose to block the engagement that run counter to his vitriolic views.
Instead of teaching results, hopes and dreams
We should teach beginning and end
Each civilization, nation, kingdom, for all of history
So simple just teach it once, and finished
Déjà Vue all over again
Outline: Revolution, establish rule, self indulge and glorify, establish cronies, take
more than you need, become top heavy, disenfranchise more and more from the
bottom, revolution…repeat ad infinitum.
Refer to Einstein’s definition of insanity following…”endlessly repeating the same
process and hoping for different results.”
