Science hears what,
Philosophy why
The deafest of twins
—singing in the same choir
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2019)
Praise a poet for his work
and splendor he’ll unfold,
stifle him with words that hurt,
and all will stay untold.
For only when his ego’s stroked
will you be sure to see
fine poetry flow from his pen,
spurred on by you and me.
For inspiration comes his way
depending on his mood
for seeing what his critics say
is where he finds his food.
The story of our poet friend
applies to you and me,
for praise can lift us to our best
and set our spirits free.
So let the poet in your soul
ride on the praise of peers
while any words that undermine
should fall on deafest ears!
Ivor G Davies
I used to hear it everyday,
A hundred times in many ways,
Falling on the deafest ears,
Calling on the ones that hear...
Thru the trees and blades of grass,
In the strongest breeze that lasts,
Parting every ocean sea,
Until it finds a soul for me...
As I turn my other cheek,
Towards the wind as it gets weak,
Just to hear the slightest sound,
Of someone special it has found...
That's listening to hear the same,
Christening of someone's name,
Traveling within the tide,
Unraveling once its inside...
I used to hear it everyday,
A hundred times in many ways,
But now I feel a love that's blew,
In whispers in the wind from you...

Its all about the space
I'm afraid you must be quiet
No barking my love
We don't want to start a riot
Of discontented neighbors
Who will come out to swear
At your sweet barking face
And the scowl on mine that they dare
Not challenge my protector
My little alarm so fine
No barking now my Mister
You have to wait until the time
The burgler is climbing in
To steal our priceless stuff
(We have priceless stuff ...? )
Then you'll bark enough
To wake the deafest on the block
And I'll be so proud of you
So no barking at the mailman
He isn't a bone to chew
And no barking at the visitor
Who comes to laugh with us
No barking right now
We don't want any fuss
So, let's go off to the park
Where you can be a part
Of other dogs who play
And bark with all your heart!
