fingers tingling from the bitterly cold
lingering before fireplace
craving buttered popcorn

Mid December and the temperature is soaring
The sky is cerulean, and it feels like early spring,
I expect the robins’ return, the meadow greening
And children again playing outside in the street.
Christmas morning is less than two weeks away,
And we have yet to have a ground-covering snow
Or an ice storm with bright glistening branches,
Where, oh, where, did our customary winter go?
I don’t know all the ins and outs of global warming
Although I have read some of its negative effects
If this unusually warm December is any indication,
I am beginning to wonder what we can expect next.

If a poem fails to bring in loud cheers,
Need there’s none to feel unduly sorry,
Nor cheer up if some stray hearts it endears;
To too loud cheers need there’s to feel weary.
If at times your Muse says ‘I can’t help here’,
Fine, a flower blossoms but at right time,
Comes the right time and uncalled she comes near,
Words-failing-to-fall-in-place scarce is crime.
At last your poems if do some cheers fetch,
Get swayed not, claps are oft customary.
Let it in head nary an impress etch,
Poetry sites feel it’s necessary.
Poets are persuaded to encourage,
Quietly still they might turn a tired page.

Poet’s note: This is my take-out from forwarding poems to and following them at poetry sites. It helps if budding poets develop an attitude of being somewhat stick-proof!

From the help spilled forth customary whines
Moaned that their duties were fraught with deadlines
That it couldn't be worse
If they were in a hearse!
Time to exchange their complaints for complines
Note: 'Complines' are evening prayers traditionally
recited before retiring for the night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cheer fills this day, charm looks profound;
Union of souls here on this earth;
See moments play in sacred grounds;
Trust makes one whole, now glimpse new worth;
Opt to share voice ever sincere;
Make love a sign spanning your time;
Applaud fine choice etching your years;
Rouse fond design with sanguine chimes;
Yield to your heart, explore all things.
Rise together, dare life's struggles;
Ignite true start, dare swirl and fling;
True love matters in your fable;
Enjoin true quest now man and wife;
Sense precious fest graced with grand life.
