Premium Member A Reassessment of Differing Views

Some feel that Bible verse conclusively
Describes all life explained through liturgy.
Some feel that evolution holds the key
With science leading forth explicitly.

Positions juxtaposed perceptibly:
A purist view of Life's conformaties -
A prescient view of Life's complexities -
Could one more view assuage disparities?

What do papyrus texts in fact convey?
And, what does nature's yield expressly say?
Somewhere between these two compelling sides
The letter and the spirit both reside.

We take from texts enough to salve our minds,
And then from nature context-laden signs,
With each constrained by factors of its lot.
Questions for both - what is and what is not?

Yet, could these sides assemble what should be -
A pair of constancies through which we see
Two halves converging as to form the whole
Reach toward a common line that's not a goal?

This dictum for another day, but now
Enough for both conjointly to endow
A symbiotic sense of harmony
And hope - if our thoughts are inclined to be.

The Days of Youth

THE DAYS of youth have hurried past,
And even friendships hardly last.
Before too long, I’ll drift away
From what I was, and never stay.

A year, a decade, even more
Will overthrow what stood before
And, unbeknownst, I’ll come to find
That all dear things are far behind.

I’ve walked through life and seen anew
That constancies are far and few,
That all belovèd ones must go,
And that all life must ebb and flow.

Until the very end I’ll see
Young flowers in the fields that be,
And I will know that their own fate
Will turn around before too late.

I will admire their gentle shine
And then recall when I had mine,
When my own star was in the sky
And on my strength I could rely.

And then I shall walk by and smile
To know that what makes life worthwhile
Is not what anchors me to stay,
But rather days which fly away.

In Him

He must have some of them, in him
because myself, I could not win ~
the single mother, her chagrin
her buttressing, constancies' grim!

Oh pleasant times there were, but then
the years defining altered vim
and soon designing, the world's rim
left to consigning, losing's kin!

At last the summit, on his own
a marriage, pining not alone
and children that his heart's condone
did not leave at a sitter's home!

He must have some of them, I know
my grandpa's, fathers, wholesome folk,
who knew their way, with courage prone
and looking back, their effort's known!

Must watch it all, the separates' hone
a child, not broken, just rezone.
The single mother's hope relies,
upon that justice God implies!
