Premium Memberomen of the red headed owl

an owl stared at Maya from a fence post
she knew it was a sign from the great father
no ordinary fowl, this one had a red head
there would be a death before the end of day
according to a Navajo proverb

Maya was especially kind to her family that day
wondering who it would be, hoping it was not her son
he had already had a bad week, a mean bout with chickenpox
she thought of the owl all day

her next door neighbor passed in his sleep that night
Maya felt a bit of relief
knowing the owl had never been meant for her

Premium MemberThe Bench That Changed My Life

In recent days on a holiday
that we spent in the English Lakes
a day spent at Grange-over-Sands
this lovely little town is so great

It has an attraction all of its own
especially down at the duck pond
which is surrounded by many a bench
memories of a bench made me respond

In 1989 after being ill with chickenpox
I spend time there recovering for a week
before leaving home got a get-well card
from a young lady, I admired so to speak

I sat on that bench many a day
reading a get-well card to me
it was so nice that a lady did care
then I was in a quandary under the tree

The bench did indeed change my life
for I did ask that young lady to go out
amazingly she said yes, in time is my wife
sweet memories indeed there is no doubt

(That lady that I did ask out on that first date was Christine now my wife of 33 years.)

Premium MemberMeeting Love Twice Through the Mail

Before the electronic mail we have now
snail mail was the only postal means
write a letter, stick a stamp, envelope sealed
into the postbox it goes my forever dreams

My first love Jean for a year
did write to each other every week
looked forward to that post come
it meant so much without it all's bleak

But then post stopped we dated
fell in love so very very much
got wed for we were the match
but Jean passed away by God's touch

My second love Christine loved mail
regularly we penned to one another
really got to know each other well
so wondered if we could go further

Then I got chickenpox out of the blue
so Christine sent me a get well card
that clicked us so we started to date
got wed 9 months later, our love starred

So mail has a loving touch
shows its hand to a live connect
I can vouch truly for that
twice it helped me, love select

(This is written looking back on mail and it's effect on my love life as it twice had a effectual lasting proof on it.)

Now we are excited by a cough

Premium MemberGod's Love - Simply Divine

How do you start to describe God's love?
a love that no human can ever produce
it has to be experienced to be known
no amount of good works will be of use

This love shows God as a heavenly father
who always does well for His own
their best interests are His prerogative
blessing upon blessing come from God alone

God has proved faithful and true
sticking close to me all life through
no matter falling so often in sin
He picks me up afresh forever anew

Being widowed in mid20s unconverted
that night of loss Christ came alongside
drew me to Himself full of Jesus
gifted with His righteousness forever to abide

God the great matchmaker truly at work
nearly nine years later met my new wife
Christine came my new love in God's providence
my chickenpox drew us as one for a new life

The Lord gave me a love for Him
desiring more of His word to constantly feed
helping me to learn and read pure rhyme
through God's spirit spreading His seed

The Lord every day leads me in His word
giving contentment, hope, strength and grace
such is the love of God truly divine
looking to the day I see His face

The Prequel

"The Prequel"
by: Eric L. Boddie

In my Life, I have come across so many people
And all of them are truly equal
Because we all must battle evil
And everyday, that is the sequel
And some don't agree with how I Chase The Steeple
Maybe it's because I am balder than the eagle
Or perhaps because instead of a brush, I use a pen for my easel
Or maybe it's because as a child I survived the chickenpox and measles
Or because I prefer pit bulls to beagles
Or because I am a black man who listens to Hoobastank and the Beatles
Or because I like both, gas and sour diesle
Or because I am loyal unlike a weasel
Or because my eyes are more open than a needle
Or because I prefer movies by Joel Siegle
Instead of those that only matter feekle
Or because I feel respect is rather regal
Because I TRY my best to do what God Deems As Legal
After All, Only He Is The Prequel

Misunderstood

Once again I am found
In a world that pretends to go round,
Where we're prescribed
What we are and not allowed to do
Unknowingly, micro dosing cyanide
But I stand here sharing my clear view

A world with no rights
Yet claiming everything’s alright
A paradox to appreciate
Chickenpox to fix the birthrate

I should’ve known from the start
I knew I'd be blown apart
Should've grown alone
Instead I’m left to cry and moan

Wishing away
The fear of today,
Hoping for a pleasing future
Knowing full well that’s no suture...

Well, maybe I’ll be alone
And that’s okay, I condone,
Maybe you’ll follow through
But I’m leaving, and so should you

Premium MemberChickenpox Romance

A guy , mid 30s and widowed
takes chickenpox real bad
calamine lotion profits are up
the itch is driving him mad

Eventually it all eases up
so decides to take holiday break
to recuperate after being ill
goes to lakes to eat local mint cake

Before leaving home receives get well card
from girl he had only occasionally met
so gets away to the lakes
has restful time recovering no fret

One day there reads the card
which says 'hope you get better'
he thinks that's nice of her
so he writes a thank you letter

As they say rest is history
they dated, engaged and got wed
now next year is silver anniversary
so beware next time you've itch on head!
