Absolutely loved old Mickey Mouse
My all-time favourite character
No matter what my age is chronologically
Can't wait to crank up the projector
As he carouses round the celluloid screen
Fills my heart with great happiness
His squeaky voice rings out loud and clear
Always creating such rowdiness
Remember the Wonderful World of Disney
One in four was from Fantasyland
Of course, I enjoyed the other three weeks
But adored Mickey and his band
Life was filled with joy back then
Hoped we'd stay kids forever
Thoughts of getting old sometime in the future
Occurred to us almost never
Mickey and his band kept us chuckling all day
No worries, the world was in rhyme
Never concerned what the future had in store
Only fun till beddy-byes time

Hortense Reads a Romance Novel
By Elton Camp
The cover picture is easy to understand
Beautiful woman with bare-chested man
Into her lusty eyes he does peer
Their intentions are quite clear
It’s a book designed only to sell
So needn’t be written very well
Sexual scenes loosely connected
From such drivel is expected
Unrealistic expectations it arouses
As the couple bawdily carouses
Perhaps I have no right to bash
Say only a loser reads such trash
Since I’ve never read a single one
How can I say they’re not fun?
At least it gives Hortense a thrill
And, for her, it must fill the bill

The air is shivered; to displacements whim.'
From the Ides of heaven’s sphere
As smote was the skin of a cosmic drum
Throbbing walls of pressure ‘push in’.
Then down as silvered mail, are droplets thrown
Disgorged from Yahweh’s mighty quiver
Descending on, and over all creation
Glistening in sheaves, and slivers;
Igniting the energy of growth, in plant
Grass, rock and tree, a heavy hissing static falls
Across the fells, and far flung seas.
To drop.. and dropping… under and upon'
Darkling pines, also the great lakes waters.
Lozenged globes, reflective, scatter liquid light
In manifold freshening beads, too… carouses
Aloft in choruses; the damp clad whistling breeze.
Laurel leaves pendle and sway in harmony
and glistening mid-hued green, as sun bursts shine to
Kiss the rain, all embellishing; in tenebristic reverie.'
