The sky unwraps a silver veil,
Each drop a hymn, so soft, so pale,
As rain begins its tender play.
It drapes the earth in crystal lace,
With every bead, a sweet embrace,
A gentle calm on Christmas Day.
The lights reflect in puddled grace,
Like stars descended, face to face,
In every splash, a dream will stay.
Oh, how I love the rain's refrain,
Its hush more pure than caroled strain,
A holy hush where hearts can pray.

I joined the crowd last night to watch
The local Christmas tree
As it officially got lit,
A lovely sight to see.
Although it’s not my holiday,
The festiveness appealed
And as the neighbors gathered ‘round,
That spirit was revealed.
A choir was accompanied
By instruments of brass
And caroled with enthusiasm
No one could surpass.
The park was filled with families,
Hot chocolate in the air,
And in the moonlight, everyone
Was happy to be there.

His life was marked by infinite strides,
Breakable down into a chanted psalm;
And a doleful hymn after psalters' word,
Plus a petition to bid the kingdom come.
Keener listeners his recitals yet might hear
In plaintive crescendos in misty auras near;
Are not his footsteps bold in deathless ink,
On dark planes along the latent silvery link?
His ever-pledged faith soared on basis lean:
Choice psalms to check soul's bubbly brims;
Caroled hymns to shut heart's bestial whims;
Tacit prayers for mind and conscience clean.
Opposing these no devilish heads may rise;
No mortal skin more lethal ammunitions kept
In trinity synchrony winning wars against vice;
Blazing witty fires beyond Eden's eternal debt.
With a psalm and a hymn and contrite prayer,
He fought and slew old fogs that trillions dare.

It’s been a while since the Christmas of my youth.
Some things it seems have gone away -
Cookie cutters, hot cocoa, and an angel
are three not with me today.
Yes, Mama would get her cookie cutters out
How I loved to help make the dough.
We’d bake, then frost them, but these days,
everyone’s too much on the go!
People just go buy sweets at the grocery store.
Even hot cocoa’s instant too.
What happened to its simmering on the stove?
Microwaving is all we do!
What happened to giving out homemade cookies
as we caroled from door to door,
then having cocoa with melted marshmallows
floating on top like I adore?
And last of all, what happened to the angel
who orchestrated all of this?
My mother, once so young and filled with vigor.
Oh, how I miss my Christmas bliss!

Santa’s Elves
At twelve the "ELVES” helped SANTA CLAUS.
They packed wrapped TOYS in their new SLED.
Thick snow draped WINTER FAIRY LAND.
The view from Heaven was quite grand.
New snowmen popped up everywhere.
But only Frosty came to life.
Loud laughter filled home’s warmth inside.
FROSTY THE SNOW MAN danced outside.
Young children caroled JINGLE BELLS.
Elves and parents TRIMMING the tree,
Heard SLEIGH BELLS ringing in the dark.
The stars shown bright that CHRISTMAS Eve.
Big brothers watched for young one’s sleep.
They rode their sled onto the porch.
Oh, what fun two elf brothers had?
They wrapped more gifts to bring inside.
They helped eat treats with Santa Claus.
Their growing up was not so hard.
Becoming an elf brings sweet perks!

Halleluiah choirs of Christmas gone
Are fading with the passing year
Pray, remember those no longer here
Praise life with gleeful, New Year songs
Your heart be light, with Langsyne cheer
New challenges, they come upon
Everyone as time slips on
We come together, hearts on high
Yesteryear again has caroled by
Ending with a sad but joyful sigh
Another year presents itself to all
Reminding us how lucky we are to see the New Year’s ball fall!
