Byways in Wisconsin
I
The friend in the deli
of the Piggly Wiggly
in Lodi show me her nails
strikes up conversations
when I come back to town
for a second week of work.
I tell her about the work
on utility lines on county roads
where I control traffic
and the beauty of the countryside.
She tells me about her daughter
two years old who brings joy
and says she’s

The Florida of My Youth - Highways and Byways
The Florida of My Youth – Highways and Byways
By Franklin Price

The highways and the byways of Brevard when I was young
Were void of any four lanes, no interstates among
Highway 50, was the only road that went out to the west
Orlando just a little town, where Christmas shopping was the best
In Cocoa was the river road,

Byways
Byways
We traveled byways of laughter,
fain and giddy at the start,
but harder roads came after
that wore sorely on her heart.
There are paved paths of glory
that lead to elation's glen;
the taking of love's quarry,
ledgered by the poet's pen.

Rambling the Byways of Landour
I’ve come a long way
With the help of a sheen ray
I see no vehicle to take me there
Seems I’ll have to walk 20 miles more
Sauntering through the soggy jungle
My shoes get wet & my bag rather heavy that I crumble
I lay down seeing the floating clouds hanging low
Haze enfolding the valley with its shadow
The huge

Highways and Byways
Highways And Byways
(Rhyming Sands)
I traveled many highways
wandered many byways
with many long miles
different styles
lovely scenes
and greens
blue skies
many miles
traveled in style
all joyful worthwhile
long distance day or night
through beautiful country sight.
