Anxious to be my Huckle bearer
Of my last breath wishful ensnarer
Anxious for my ultimate demise
So to my earthly trappings burglarize
Dishonest wife stealing philanderer

Beneath hardened and thickened wings,
Twinkling soft and cold mystical lights mesmerize.
Showing off Reels, jigs, poussettes, and flings.
Dark nooks cutely they burglarize.
Swaying around their electronic duff,
Spreading friendly vibes, they light up the dark.
Elated with joy they flash out language of love.
Lost in their sight I dodge like a narc.
Smitten with their joyful acts of wheedle.
They are as precious as they contrive.
Yes, I am flattered by these cute little beetles.
For they spread smile though for just few days they survive.

Our children bought us DNA tests for Christmas.
Um, why would we want to do this?
What if we wanted to rob a bank or burglarize a home?
Aren’t these results going into an FBI data base?
We did it because they kept asking us about it.
Every nationality I wanted to be, did not show up for me.
My husband who has a German surname has always bragged.
We Germans are smart, we Germans are brilliant, we Germans.
His came back with this result. He is more English than the English.
He is ninety-seven percent English. I laughed my petootie off.
I would have at least half Native American blood, I was sure.
But alas, I did not.
I came out with Swedish, which is oddly odd.
A bit of German which was more than my husband
And mostly Pennsylvania Dutch and English.
I am a mutt, whereas he is a purebred – but not German.

She is a mob
looting my sleep
rioting through
the alleys and lanes of
my blissful solitude
She is thieves
a thousand strong
who burglarize
my dreams
until the reprieve
of a restless dawn
Kidnapper of
contented hours
who demands
no ransom
but highjacks
every unsuspecting thought
with impunity
She is arson
my undisturbed peace
days unclouded by desire
now shrouded
in smoke
incandescent
in a bonfire
Beautiful
criminally so
but she's so young
so innocent
and serenely unaware
of the chaos
she incites
