resounding bittering
lacerating and
painful deafening ,
tremendous scream
is the sound
of a ruined love...
so adrift, so astray !

We huddle over the mass of our treasures
with stinging skin and salt ringed hair
while holding a washed blue sea star shining
we whisper with bittering breath on the tide
The waves peel thus and entice us to dig
with backs holding skies and the sun raging noon
while fingers break open in white salty clean
we meticulously scan the horizon for change
We stop when their fins slice the water in arcs
with hands shielding eyes and our lips flooding smiles
while standing like beacons with roots on the land
we wonder if dolphin eyes strain to see us
The moment they pass we are back hard at work
with bellies of hunger and cotton tongued thirst
while feeling the sun on our skin to take home
we whisper that this is the time of our lives.

A capful of sorrow
from the bubbling effervescence
of the bottle of your life
is merely a bittering briefly
For spewing out wildly
shaken and frosted
is the rest of your happiness drinking
Light on your feet
like a bubble bent wish
gulping at life meant for sipping
This capful of sorrow
should slight slow you down
to the insight of meaning be gripping
Glorious youth carbonated naive
Drop it and shake it, you have and receive
Snapping and fizzing down throats never dry
Drinking so quickly forms tears in the eyes
But a capful of sorrow
is the quickest of quick
which forces the drinker to examine his drink
Is the bottle half empty?
Or is it half full?
It's the moment that many incredulous think
Why am I spilling
and wasting a drop?
The bubbles are popping, refreshment inside
so don't lose the cap
and keep open your eyes
for there's no precious drink like the bottle of life....
