Sunsets are the doorway to the moon,
ending the day with bright colors.
Memories are made as the moon turns full,
shining down with love.
Wisdom is how we learn,
from the good and bad,
sometimes making us bitter.
Life is short,
so throw the bad and bitter out like cold bath water.
Always remember age is only a number,
fifty is half a century but so what?
I say "Happy Birthday" to the new half century,

A special Birthday wish to my good friend Eileen. As many of you know I have named her the Queen of The Romantic Pen. She is one of the most talented poets I have ever come across.

She is a warm hearted and lovely person. She deserves to be honoured.
I know her Birthday is not until the 18th but I’ll be traveling at that time. I don’t want to miss an opportunity to wish her well.

I can't fathom that you are turning thirty
I remember the night I went into labor with you,
waking just after midnight with contractions
You took your time getting here, but you
have made my life richer and fuller
each day that you have been alive, because
you are my son and deeply loved
I am proud of you and the man that you
have become and can't wait to see what
adventures you encounter as you live your
life and continue to reach for the stars!
I have never had to warn you that life is hard,
we have had loss and strife as a family and you
have experienced your own obstacles,

How I recall words she'd say
Telling me she wants a new purse
Or asking if I’m going to church

Today is still your birthday
You would now be seven eight
Although you’re up in heaven
I’m still remembering this date
Each one we celebrated
When we were a man and wife
With love and understanding
As we traveled through our life
With the love you left me
Found another one to share
Who also had been left behind
With a life alone and bare
I know that you would love her
And that she would love you too
We now share our lives together
Much the same as me and you
You will always be remembered
On this day for all my life
If not for the love we shared
