Best Zealot Poems

Zealot

Rogue and destitute,
In dreamlessness I drift
Stolen by the numbness of routine
I lack your acceptance; I crave the pristine

Your pivoting words both lull and dull me
I harden day by day in its power
Though inside, the spark still lives
Gaining ground in an otherwise lost heart

Toil I must
Wait, I trust

Can you not grab hold of life and hurl these material things?
Can you not, for once, be free of control, and instead live?
Can you bear your force upon me with passion,
Instead of stone-faced apathy?

Direct me, and I will flee from all paths
From all of your torturous machinations
You cannot protect me, destroyer of joy!
Worship your uninspired content,
Your uncurious, indifferent rot

For I must away,
To the greatness of every day
To undo this cursed sleep you have inflicted upon me
Awaken me, undress me, and bathe me in secret exhilarations
And do not look on me like one who regrets,
Do not qualm over this uncontrolled zealot who possesses me
For she dresses you, comforts you, enlivens you, completes you
Every great day

The Zealot

The zealot was a man of convictions
Believed he that he was on the right
All others but him were perishing
Self righteous he loathed others
Believed himself chosen anointed

Transgressed he on the commandment
Love.. he only had for his own self
Penance he believed below his station
On matters of faith concieted he believed
That the creator was of his religion

THAT MOTHER MARY WAS A REAL MOTHER

They teach, they preach, and reach incongrous conclusions for their congregants
and do so with arrogance
because the preacher has a predeliction toward facing Satan toe to toe
as he gathers all his ducks in a row
the ducks being an awed audience as they sat planted in a pew
listening to the self-righteous preacher and the specious non-specifics he's so apt to spuriously
and furiously spew
all the little ducks in their father's wake
well if you ask me instead of wafers and wine they should serve cookies and cake
..............for Christ's sake
and pardon me if i'm construed as being rude to tell you this church is now on fire
everything and everyone including the choir
for the pastor lied and Christ's flames shot down upon the structure because there was a
rotten infrastructure
and once again think not of me as lewd
but didn't anyone notice this church was becoming unglued
because Christ's blood is the bricks and this pastor's un-pastoral lies are the mortar
while the minister is out pimping a long-legged teen-age blonde who's his daughter
so each brick breaks apart in front of four hunded pair of eyes
as thunder thuds down from between Mother Mary's thighs
the choir is afire and being led by an obvious and ominous liar
as a minister makes misery out of a situation he deems dire
while a pastor passes judgement on the asses all with the same damned flaming desire
and if the truth be known the pastor should sit upon that church's flaming spire
or at least have his buttocks invaded by ten inches of the steeple
Since that paltry, pathetic, impious pastor duped a whole lot of garishly gullible people
so I say we take religion with its b******t, babble and Holy Bible
and i say we begin a class action suit for deception, mental distress and we will hold the
Vatican liable

Zealots Speak

Zealots, one by one, with steadfast passion
         serving God as Master
      in enthusiastic fashion -
                     His broadcaster.

Zebulon’s tribe pardoned for insurgence
          became clear spokesmen yet;
      famous mariners and merchants
                    with God’s mindset.

Old Testament prophet Zephaniah
          foretold deportation
of God’s hope for the Messiah -
                    chosen nation.

Old Zacharias, priest in the temple,
           doubted in disbelief,
lost his speech; really simple -
                    he caused God grief.

There was Zebedee, busy fisherman,
          father of James and John,
loosed his sons, new mission began
                    their anchors drawn.

Simon the Zealot, unsung disciple
          attentive, observant,
     zealous for Jesus, not idle
                    as His servant.

Zealots, one and all, somewhat imperfect
          serving their Savior God.
Righteous, they were voices He picked
                    to give Him laud.

Zany zealot
Fervently on fire
Enthusiastically single-minded
Fanatical and furiously frenzied
He tries to convert everyone he meets
He cannot get a job, has had twelve interviews
We cannot help him, he is a selective listener
If it does not fit with his schemata, he does not hear it
