Traveling

There are places I’ve grown from some far and wide
Past my heart and lingering within my mind
There are roads I may have crossed craggy and forgotten
Each step I take I ascertain more clearly
Through the willful nights and past stories
I never looked back for more than a mere second
Whispering all the things I saw and sensed
I’ve learned to transform inconveniences and annoyances
This wind that now blows shows me-
I must discipline my intellectual truths
Training in the joy of day to day
I shall walk along the ruins of yesterday
On a journey of understanding myself
With less fear and doubt and wiser to the day

D-Day Th' Day Cometh

"D"~DAY (TH' DAY COMETH...)

JUST AS PEACE,SEEMED TO EASE US OF MISERY...
DOUBT N' CONTEMPT ARISES,YET 'GAIN TO GREETETH OUR CONTENTMENT
TH' WORLD'S REQUIRING OF INTRICACY,RESOUNDS DINS OF DISDAIN
PLUCKING AT OUR SANITY'S STRINGS,THIS IGNORANCE REWARDS US MOROSE

TO TH' POINT OF BREAK,OUR TOLERANCE IS STRETCHED TAUGHT
REASONING NOW DOUSED OF DEBAUCHERY,OUR EMPATHY WAXES FUTILE
WHEN 'TIS FULFILLED,WRATH WILL RESTORETH SIGHT OF TH' OBLIVIOUS
FOR TH' TRUTH OF THEIR PRURIENCE,SHALL PROVE THEMSELVES PRIMITIVE

TH' PERVERSION OF KNOWLEDGE,ONCE MORE AFFIRMS DESECRATION
BY ADORNING OF GRACE WE WERE REDEEMED...NOW LOOMS DEATH OF DIGNITY
LUXURY SPREADS IT'S ROOTAGE,SO OF IT'S VINES WE ARE ENTANGLED
EXPEL TO HELL THEIR WANTONESS,N' THEIR EGOSTIC DESIRES OF GAIN

ABORTED FROM OUR WOMBS OF PIETY,THEY NOURISHED NO REMORSE
ROES OF REPRISAL THEY HATH CONCEIVED,OF PROFITOUS FORNICATIONS
THEIR SURETY IN AFFLUENCE,SHALL CERTAIN THEIR CONCLUSION
WHEN DULY ACHIEVED COMETH...

...THEIR DAY OF DESTINATION!

On a Day Like Today

On a Day Like Today
    by Amy Swanson 12/2008

On a day like today,
    I just want to scream.
This day is so cold!
    I'd much rather day-dream...

...of a small tropic island
     where sun always shines -
Yes! That would do nicely!
      (though just in my mind)

On a hot sandy beach,
       where the water's deep blue;
relaxing and warm,
with palm trees in my view...

and a drink in my hand,
     with that little umbrella!
My warm, leisured day
      would read like a novella...!

But I open my eyes -
      drat! this dull winter gray!
I prefer my day-dreams
on a day like today! :)

How Ive Already Changed Your Future

80 paintings i gave away
an abstract to the tune of the stairway to heaven
good advice and solutions to certain ailments
written on the back
wisdoms to resolve confusion written on the back of others
some lost along the way i have not forgotten
like th one left at the library
like the one given to the homeless shelter
like the one i gave to the city center police station

the needle in the hay stack
with methods on how to escape a concentration camp
the reality on the back

every relationship in my life
the good the bad and the ugly
with all poetic cryptic heartfelt advice

away walk the hookers and cons with an enlightenment
some find a sense of enjoyment of the things they find

something you can't take back from society
as these paintings will eventually change hands
wether bought or sold
or sit in the restaraunts or homes to be looked at

one day these pieces will come together
this is intelligence trading hands in random haphazard wonder
like new tarot cards for your future to wonder
the mystery out there built on the foundations of today
an inspiration from me i got from caring about someone else
the powerful, the hungry, the victom, the oppressor, the rich and poor

ive already changed your life tomorrow
and the past is out there catching up to you today
subtle conversations of bouncing some ideas off of others
either to agree to disagree
or completely understand oneself or another

this intelligence is out there
my life story you will one day have to wonder
themes done to the lyrics of stairway to heaven
now you can see when and where i changed songs
if you can configure the one most likely to be next
in my artistic obsessive compulsive order

Night Time Begins

Day ending, nighttime beginning.
Hearing the sounds of crickets in
the night sky.
Owls, way high in the trees
hooting loudly.
As they sit waiting, watching the
ground below for something good
to eat.
The sky reddish, golden now while
the day sun sets.
Moon, now rising higher and higher
lighting up everything round it.
As day ends and nighttime begins.

Lost In the Shadows of Me

drunk with creativity
i long to be understood
drunk with anticipation
pondering my actions wicked wild... and obscenely good
worry is not in my creed
viewpoints ideas inspiration desire and passion
is what i need
i am lost in the shadows of time
looking in the mirror differently...
imagine that...the first to notice
a fellow Gemini... my homegirl Emily
I am single
no one to say they are mine
or I theirs
one day that might change...if times dares
(lol)
drunk of the love i bare
drunk on the love I can give
lost in the shadows of me
the prism of poetic insanity
love everyone in my life since the day we all first met
from the classic barbeques... to playin with water guns...or at the park gettin wet
from singing songs... dancin the night away
lost in the shadows of good times
i seem to be these past few days
i see me embracing change in what i do and what i have done
Afterall Geminis fly... we don't run
prism of passion sprinkled with a dash of drama that i really don't need
I walk away...and in turn... to the days ahead my soul plants a new seed
a tree of new wisdom all to teach and learn
I see life through the darkness... yet I am said to possess much light
Gemini at its best... with life's wonders I wrestle and fight
acts of love nothing less

Today

Is there such a day as "Today?"
The evidence points to yes.
Some say to put off 'till tomorrow.
But the only day we seem to meet,
Is today.
There will never be a time
When I ask "are you enjoying tomorrow?"
Why then, are we so fixated on a day that never comes?
Some say "why do today what you can put off 'till tomorrow..."
But what is today, but yesterday's tomorrow?

Calm With the Breeze

The pressure is on.
And my day has come and gone.
Anticipation rides on the wings of my patience,
And all of this condensed into a bundle of one.
Defined and detailed, I assure you I am intense,
Time for a deep drawn breath I can barely squeeze.
Comfort covers my essence while I sit calm with the breeze.
Closing my eyes and never looking in,
My day has come to its final destined end.
Conflicts of interest rides on the wings of my anticipation,
Bringing me to where it truly all begins.
Defined and detailed, I assure you I am standing on top of my foundation.
Time for my eyes to correct the visions I can finally adjust to see.
Surfing the winds while locked dead into this God given breeze!
The heat is rising and turned all of the way on.
And my day has only just begun.
Restless energy tailing on the wings with my conflicts of interest,
All traveling like the speed of a mighty powerful one!
Defined and detailed, I assure you I am impressed.
Time for my hard thoughts to penetrate my deep!
Tranquility consumes the best of me while I sit calm with the breeze.
Opening my eyes and always looking out,
My day is what this has become all about.
Restless energy rides on the wings of my destination,
All in serious neglect balanced by my own given doubt!
Defined and detailed, I assure you I am my own perfect explanation.
Time for my deepest drawn breath, a struggle indeed!
I am calm with the breeze,
Riding on these wings of my personal conformation!

Longer Days Deeper Trouble

You are glistening
Upon a eloquent design
I claim it…it’s mine
Paint me a brighter day
without gluttony…
without trouble
I’ll be captivated in an
everlasting utopia
Look! Here comes a beam
from the sunshine
I claim it…it’s mine
Glistening
Captivated in
Complete delusion

Deeper trouble occurs…
The day grows longer
I can’t stand it
any longer
It’s as hectic as ever
this weather
Isn’t what I endeavor

I don’t have much
To hang on to
Just to be true
I’ll always appreciate you
Your adoring aroma
Caught in a glimpse
of fantasies
catches my nightmares
and places all my fears
in a fond jar

I disappear
 in a despairing tide
falling…failing
helplessly…
hoarsely…
unsaved against
a river of mellowness
earning a kiss
from the wild east
at last…seeking my feast

Slowly and steady
Do I watch the waterfall
pass away as the years
slip away…drying up inside

Fix the faucet
and deny the tundra
and shroud me as an umbrella
Disappear into a superb dream
Work as a team
drown the misty waters
Bring me to life

Are you looking for trouble?
Watch the day expand…double
Work as a team
Circulate around a mist of dreams
and drench the nightmares to disgrace
Are you looking for trouble?
Watch the day expand and double

Patiently…unsteadily,
I wait for a vibrant day,
feeling sporadic…
ripping away the sweltering
irregular expansion
Are you looking for trouble?
Watch the day expand and double

Slowly and steady
Do I watch the waterfall
pass away as the years
slip away…drying up inside

I’ll suggest you wait awhile
to wash up the longer days
and decreasing the deeper trouble

I disappear ultimately
 in a despairing tide
falling…failing
helplessly…
hoarsely…
unsaved against
a river of mellowness
earning a kiss
from the wild east
eventually…
seeking my feast
gliding against
a most mellowest
Tide

Human Nature

A gesture, a hello, a goodbye
A glance, a chat, a meeting
An activity, a fun, a life
A person, a soul, a heart
A string, a rope, a magnet
How do we do it?
No one knows
Except for the creator
Of course
How can we make it?
And live it
How can we be so attached?
Though it’s not fully ours
How do we get so attached to people?
How can we be so compassionate?
By a gesture, a hello, a goodbye
It has been the first meeting I say
Fun and games
Activities we make
Pulls us to the person
We want to know
A string, a rope
Drives us like magnet
To that person
After we know that person
We never want him to go
But a life experience
Makes us sacrifice for that person
And that person only
That the thought of him or her
Leaving us forever to meet the creator
Establishes us with fear and sorrow
Why?
I do not really know
That is human nature
That is us
So how great God really made us?
To get attached
To sacrifice
For people we barely know
But we forgot
We always forget
That one day will be the day
When you can’t be with the person you love

We'Ll Play In the Clover

The sun burst into a new day,
A day of redemption from a night so long,
How can you sit there and not say,
It is here where you belong?
We walk on the beach, hand in hand
Such a nice feeling, our feet in the sand.
I pull you to me, taste your lips, so sweet,
Love does fulfill me, when our hearts do meet.
Frolicking here and there,
Playing like children without a care.
You jump on my back,
Pull me to the ground,
Bodies intertwined,
A love so profound.
We lie there for hours,
With love in our hearts,
Never but never, will we ever part.
The day almost over,
Time to go home,
We’ll play in the clover,
To a different song.

Time Goes By

Autumn leaves burn.
Winter snow melts.
Spring flowers wilt.
Summer's grass dies.

Time Goes By.
But when I'm not with you, I die inside.
You are the reason I stay alive.
Every breath I take is for you, and you alone.

If you suddenly vanished, that's it.
I would find a way to vanish with you.
My love for you in timeless.
Until the day this world ends, I am hopelessly devoted to you.

And when that day comes when you realize you love me too,
I will sit back and sigh with relief,
Because now my life can begin.
Me and you, you and me.
Forever and always.

Selfless Killers of the April Fool Armageddon

buying my own suicide
the devil on my shoulder spoiling me rotten

knowing what's best for you
april fool's day armageddon

the movie about the book that inspired the movement
april fool's day armageddon

selfishly learning to destroy the devils of our own making
and outsmarting our own fate
a date with destiny the world couldn't refuse

buy my book

sucked you in
spat you out safely
learned to do it again
replace the one thing worth replacing
new ways to celebrate the reality of our struggles to see this one day
and hold onto it as long as we can

April fool's armageddon
the world but a stage
our lives no joke, but live to make our demise an unkillable monster to laugh at

lead this way to see if you would drink
selfishly killing for uncharted territory in a dream this big
all the while waiting for the day to do away with the devil on our shoulder
of our own creation
illusory dreams
short term success
duped again for utopian ideals
selfless killers found among the slaughtered

the joke im not telling
is one of the gamble of the april fool armageddon
the joke im dreaming of peace
the running gag of several sides
one by one of different measures dumbfounded by prose
or rapture be riddled
forever incomplete
leaving the world happily deadlocked
in a state of cornering me
and doing so happily
to set them free
back to the punchline

the joke that has been told will be repeated
worked on, redone, retold and enjoyed, perhaps shared with the gods
who may curse our the perfection we are about to achieve

Rain

rain

why does it have to rain so much

why does it feel like we are doing to much

why does it have to rain like everyday and night

why does it feel like things are in my sight

why does it feel like when it rains the day drags on

why does it rain and it makes the day feel so long

why does it rain when the rain is gone it makes the day go by and the rain is long
gone

A Melody Plays Sundown

The strumming of the guitar
Watch and wait while the sun sits
Glorious colors of blush
Orange kisses of a crimson movement
Hush
Listen, the violins are weeping so slowly
Music to my ears and natures tears
Fall beside the late day shadows
Dark dapple-gray clouds mesmerizes
Flutes of majestic mountaintops sing
Whisper winds
Whisper so low
Wailing loons calling out to the end of day
Calling on her mate
Calling on her lonely cries
And so to the small hours that melt on by
Echoing silence
