Where black-necked cranes come to chat with me
In the company of wine and deep brown honey
Flowing from apple twigs in the heavenly valley
Of Bumthang , carved into the sublime Himalayas
By glacial melt and monsoon rains in collaboration
Giving rise to lovely landscapes offering relaxation
In Buddha’s silence, there lies my dream destination
To fill some vacuum in a week of my next vacation
In the north east of the Indian subcontinent where
Beautiful girls and Buddhist monks are very sincere
(Bum refers to girls and thang a flat piece of land)
Everywhere you will see Buddha’s lifted hand
In consonance with the land an ever demure voice
Of Buddhism says: go to the mystic blue and rejoice
Along the murmur of icy rivers and lakes everywhere
Pink rhododendrons exude fragrance in the fresh air
Flowers red, yellow, pink, white, lilac, green and blue
For our sore minds and thirsty psyche all these hues
In the shades of Pine and Oak monasteries as a nest
The imposing peaks descend here to take a little rest
Four charming valleys, Tang, Ura, Choekhor, Chumey
Will greet us in a smile on our trip to Bumthang valley
Morning is wakened here by blue-capped rock thrush
Beside the flapping flags the gurgling streamlets gush
Where Gross National Happiness instead of GDP
Determines economic progress of the society
Come, dear friend, to join me in the amazing journey
From the chains of self to a deep sense of infinity

Some said he was just a kid,
Then coming into his prime—
But he had those cowboy dreams
And he knew it was his time.
They said he’d made his mind up
And that some day he’d go far—
He roped, rode and dallied up
His dreams of the PBR.
He woke up on those mornings—
Rode off to the URA—
He was sixth in the money—
Had to ride that bull that day.
There were no words to stop him
That his ma or pa could say—
It was an 8-second fact
He’d ride that big bull that day.
And when the gate was opened,
No bull there could get his goat—
He blew off high and wicked—
The bull came down on his throat.
Oh, there’s little here to add
And not too much left to say—
But Cody went 8 seconds
And he rode that bull that day.
In all our life there’s sorrow—
Things don’t turn out so it seems—
But we hold that rope tighter
As we ride out all our dreams.

The invisible disease still lingered in the air.
But it was not as predominate as the smoke that could be smelled everywhere.
After Ura, the demon of plagues, began to fall into her one hundred year slumber
The more powerful demon of division roared with thunder.
Not even old, greying Joe could stop him as he laid in his coffin.
The lotus princess took over the presidency and he was forgotten.
When the golden goddess' elephants died, all she could do is cry.
She looked up at the sky and asked God "Why?".
Into her open hand a hardened silkworm cocoon fell.
As it began to break out of its shell,
Its wings filled up with blood and strengthened.
Brown, strong cecropia moth wings lengthened.
"TO STRENGTHEN YOU FOR WHAT IS TO COME" God's voice advised. "YOU MUST BE STRONG ENOUGH TO DEFEND THE HUMAN RACE AND YOUR EARTH FROM THE DARKNESS THAT WILL INVADE SOON".
