Twenty-Eight Tiers

My daughter's getting married
To a super guy called Tom,
It's really fast approaching,
It won't be very long.

The wedding dress is sorted,
The venue and the flowers,
The music and the fireworks,
But the cake, it took us hours.

We went to do some tasting,
Each sponge was quite divine,
Chocolate orange, vanilla
Pimms, coffee and praline.

The raspberry and the champagne
Made us salivate,
Strawberry and white chocolate
Tasted oh so great.

There was banana and spicy cinnamon,
Ginger and caramel,
All so gratifying,
Oh and Battenberg as well.

The carrot cake with walnuts
Was tasty as can be,
Rhubarb and rose petal
And one flavoured with green tea.

Piña colada with coconut
Like kisses on our lips,
Chocolate tiramisu
Oh the calories on our hips.

Odd flavours such as beetroot,
Pistachio and courgette
Were actually quite delightful,
A taste we won't forget.

Earl Grey with lavender,
Pumpkin with peanut butter,
Mouth-wateringly delectable
They got us all a flutter.

Chocolate fudge with peppermint,
Marshmallow and key lime,
Traditional dried fruit,
They were all sublime.

How could we make our choices
For a three tiered wedding cake,
We just couldn't do it
So we've gone for twenty-eight!

A poem should be smooth and flat
As a jagged rock
A poem should wander
As well as be expected
Wandering through a mind
Still minding it's own business
A poem should laugh and cry
As we wade through tiered rivers
A poem should drown us
As we take in breath
Liquid life forming gills
Filtering our bottled fear
A poem should be intoxicating
As cutting as a broken glass

I'm not sure if I understand the form but I gave it a go.

Premium Member An Eight-Tiered Cake

An eight-tiered cake, rose frosted, nothing fake
but purely sweet and white down to each flake
of coconut! Oh how long did it take
the artist of this masterpiece to make?
All other foods for this one I’d forsake.
A plate of golden fries with prime rib steak
could not entice me more than wedding cake,
each swirl so delicate my heart might ache
to see it ravished; my hand starts to shake
the fork I hold. I simply must partake.
Just let me at it now, for heaven’s sake!

Midnight boom town streets have this allure
imagining an uncanny venture
eavesdrop veil surround but dark as coal
how I love my after hours stroll

Secret worlds unfold their impish plot
mesmerised entanglement a tiered whatnot
black crush velvet sky we must extol
how I love my after hours stroll

Gilt fantasies that float across each lane way
fluorescent gremlin from some ghostly parking bay
gust on salt ice pier might buttonhole
how I love my after hours stroll

Snow clad mall whistler gaffe prone
while wandering the ink hue urban zone
a chapter lift and snatch from begging bowl
how I love my after hours stroll

Traffic signals  stellar  stoic stance
heartbeat of nocturnal moonlight dance
frozen digit signage reeks of twinkling North Pole
how I love my after hours stroll

The Student

Buzz, Buzz,
still tiered eyes open,
She walks down stairs, packs up, and gets on the bus,
She stares out the window wishing to spend the day there and not at a desk.
7 FULL HOURS of of unempathetic teachers,
they give her 6 more hours of school work to do at home.
No one cares!

The homework starts on the bus and she's lucky to have it done by 10PM.
Finely, she gets to go to bed,
But all she does is stare at the sealing with the overhanging stress of the work she didn't finish combined with the work her unrelenting teachers will give her tomorrow.

It happens each day,
It's beyond her control,
she tells teachers and friends but they spit in her face telling her they don't care.
It won't change.

Luckily, she has her head on strait,
and while she trudges through the mud she stays strong,
knowing that everything is going to work out.
So she tells herself just wait.

I Need a Wife

I never had a girl in my life that understood me,
I need a girl to feel me anytime Im uneasy.
I want to start a family together and everything like this
I want little kids and and something to smile at and kiss.

A girl friend is no good for me anymore,
I am tiered of having my heart broken and feeling sore.
I get everything that I need except for a main squees,
I need someone to lay in bed with every night and not freez.

I want to go grocery shopping and throw birthday parties for my little ones,
I want to hug them everyday and tell them, they're special in so many ways.
I need a wife to take care of me in time of need,
And a wife to love me anytime I bleed.

I want to fall in love with you,
I promise that I will only be true.
I will love you till I'm gray and old,
And I want to die by your side so pale and cold.

Premium Member The Raven's Revenge

There she stands
With a gun in her hand
Black tresses
Flowing down
Touching the back
Of a long multi-tiered
Billowing
Ruffled black gown
Surveying her kingdom
There in the mist
The beautiful Princess of death

~~~~~
The ravens that borrow
her well-known name
Fly in a blackening sky
Piercing the night
With their screams of fright
Circling  the tomb where he lies
~~~~~

With one last look - she turns away
Remembering that fateful day
When she found him lying
In the arms of another
Sending her into  a rage

~~~~~
Hell has no fury
like a women scorned
So all the prophets say
But that single tear
That falls from her eye
Knows she'll love him
Till the day---she dies
~~~~~

Premium Member Where the Raven Reigns

There at the gateway
To Heaven or hell
They come
When their living is done
To eternally sleep
Beneath the black clouds
That seep
Like ink
On a satin white sheet
Where the Raven stands
With a gun in her hand
Long tresses cascading in black
To touch  the back
Of that plume-like gown
Of tiered layers
That fall to the ground

~~~~~
Of in the distance
There in the light
That boarders
The brink of night
Birds of a feather
Circle together
Screaming their song
Of fright
As---
The Princess of darkness
Surveys her kingdom
There in a sea of mist
Where those stone ships list
Lost souls set adrift
In a picture of---
Horror
And
Delight
Kerala
Kerala,
God’s own country,
The weather here is excellent,
Though it is hot and sultry.
Tapioca is the staple food.
It tastes quite good,
When it is cooked.
The sea is quite wide,
And is located in the western side.
There are many ponds and lakes,
And the hills are higher than three-tiered cakes.
One can find only blue and green,
Not a spot of brown can be seen.
So dear people you must know,
That it’s up to you to preserve the country,
Which God made his own.
Premium Member Library Patterns
(Another childhood poem)
A pamphlet file in green metallic
thrusts through neon antinight
its cornered self, harsh in glare.
Piers of five-tiered fingers --
shelves -- extend beyond,
in series: a formal pattern,
rectangular and angular.
Artificial electric shine reflects
bland or blatant color.
There are books, some in disarray
in order placement on the shelves.
All:  solid, relentless, inflexible.
And most were made for use
by patterns much more rigid still.
Premium Member Communing With Nature
Dragon was watching the nature channel, and decided that…
Communing with nature, is where, IT must really… be at!
He wanted to know: What nature is. What part is he? Is he more than that?
You’d think he’d start at home, but NO! He went to the park, of course!
The park with it’s mowed lawns, and yes, where the pigeons are, in force!
He ran to an elderly man, feeding pigeons, from a bag, on a bench, of course.
The answer: we’re all part of nature, just nature prime, cause we’re smarter.
Each one’s unique, walk in others shoes, and the answers are there to garner.
Either, he didn't know the trouble he’d stir, or wanted a new story this week.
I glimpsed a paparazzi camera, partially concealed, that he did quickly seek.
Dragon immediately chose the pigeons, and I knew this wouldn't be good.
Especially, when a wild pack of paparazzi suddenly and very quickly stood.
He picked pigeons, cause they fly like him and are slow at getting away.
Plus he’s banned from the Nature Area, after his flames burned it one day.
First he followed the pigeons and checked out everything they did eat.
He wasn't too impressed as breadcrumbs and birdseed were their treats.
Then they flew to the 5-tiered fountain for a splash and feather bath, today.
But they had to leave when Dragon joined them, toppling it clear away.
The commotion took them to tree limbs, that broke under Dragons’ weight.
The park benches fared much better, as they toppled backwards, I must say.
The bronze statue looked more hopeful, till the Park Sheriff came his way.
The Sheriff of Crazyland fussed and shouted, till they all flew quickly off.
But now, Dragon had perfected the pigeon technique: of drop a load and fly.
It as a shame the Sheriff of Crazyland, was waving and shouting so close by.
Gee! I never knew, that the Sheriff could blow steam, like our Dragon can.
Tho, apparently, Dragons’ is much hotter as the statue arm, melted and ran.
But Dragon complimented him on his steam anyway, as he deftly flew away.
I just stood there and shook my head… as there was going to be heck to pay!
Now… you know why the Sheriff and Dragon simply will never get along.
For the Sheriff has now made it possible for Dragon to commune with...
‘The New Leash Law’.
My Son
My Son
He just doesn’t listen, his mind is not there,
His thoughts are scattered everywhere.
He wants to play, he wants to run,
He cannot be the only one?
The school’s lost interest,
They just can’t cope.
The Senco’s at the end of her rope!
Meetings with teachers, psychologists too,
Oh God, please start this day anew.
All I want is an average day,
No negativity to bring dismay.
I try, how I try to think positive thoughts,
But the unkind words just make me distraught.
Other kids don’t get it, they just think he’s weird,
They look at him tho’ he has three heads a-tiered!
But what they don’t know, don’t get, understand,
He’s the best friend they’d have if they gave him a chance.
He’s witty and funny, quirky, polite,
He doesn’t throw punches, nor does he bite.
He’s a champion, a marvel, this child of mine,
Acceptance will happen, I pray, over time.
For stigma is strong, it sticks, like thick mud,
It’s thrown at him daily and lands with a thud.
“You’re an ADHD kid, go take your pill.”
“Clear off, you’re not like us,” more mud thrown with skill.
I applaud his indifference, he just walks away,
Those kids think they’ve won, oh no, not today.
For my lad is secure in his own skin,
Name calling can’t break that, just wear it thin.
So, I envelop him in love and help build it strong,
For each day he stands up and proves them all wrong.
A Magnificent Moment
A five tiered chocolate cake with stars and fontain
cascading rose petals and bottles of champagne
her princess lined gown laced with a metallic accent
embellished with satin rhinestones much to her content
Heavenly white bows at the end every pew,
such breathtaking moment from a spectacular ocean view
A twenty foot high ceiling with crystal chandeliers
Soft sensual music whispers in the air
She took her grand march down the petal marked aisle
At the end of the runner her husband with a smile
Subdued by her beauty the room went still
A fairytale wedding she was about to fulfill
Upon her finger he place a gorgeous ring,
and vowed his love for her as never-ending
Elated inside as tears lined her eyes
Deep in her stomach were butterflies
A union made between a husband and wife
An everlasting promise to a happy life
Along the ground was a silky white trail
Her piercing green eyes he slowly unveiled
Upon her lips he placed a kiss
A moment filled with beauty and bliss
The wedding part began to swoon
A joyful bond in the month of June
Coram Deo Vivere - Living In the Presence of Christ
On the seven hills, virtue arrives concealed -
The discalced cross the hill country, making haste -
A presence quickening the littlest of hearts...
Privileged to greet him along the rocky passes.
Climbing the ten stringed peak,
Untold souls in silence, harmonize espousal glory,
Not alone moving mountains, but faith forward with empty hands, full.
At the four corners, thunder echoes -
Peeling hearts, stripping their core bare,
With quiet voices - mouthpieces roaming the earth in stillness of soul.
In the distance, soaring birds in flight on his breath,
Lift longing breasts to the heavens in solitude,
Singing angelic hymns with one heart and mind,
Rejoicing in revelations of truth from above.
At the three tiered platform,
Between the hills and the sky,
Resting martyrs, concealed in his blood,
Bowed heads leaning upon the wooden beam.
At the time of visitation,
Unrecognizable to many,
Known only to faithful followers,
The Holy Face of Christ not hidden,
His appearance simply out of view!
Premium Member Mom I Love You More
Mom I love you more
than I think that you love me
Just read this little note
and at the end I'm sure you'll see
I love you so I let you
wash and comb my hair
and buy me all my toys
just to show you how I care
And cook for me and feed me
the things that make me strong
and when I'm tiered, but can't sleep
I let you sing a song
I only let you buy me clothes
'Cause I know it pleases you
and let you do those other things
all mother's like to do
I never tell you "NO"
that should meant a lot right there
and you living in my house
that I've agreed to share
And it's me who lets you work
until the day is done
just so I can go out
with my friends and have some fun
I only wrote this note
so you could plainly see
I've got to love you more
Than I think that you love me
