Three-Legged Table
As I drove through an old neighborhood, I spotted a garage sale sign.
I pulled off to the side of the street. With impatience, I couldn't get out
of the car quick enough. Right in front of the drive sat a vintage,
small drop-leaf, three-legged, brass lion claw Duncan Phyfe red mahogany table.
The price was outrageously cheap. I could not resist in buying this magnificent well-kept antique table. I managed to put it in the trunk and securely tied
a rope to the trunk lash so, it would slightly close and the table wouldn't fall out while I drove home.

valuable old treasures

In my living room, well-polished table sits. An old fashion crochet doily is used as a coaster for a vintage Fenton Hobnail milk glass with ruffle edge vase, filled with fresh cut gardenias, and a pair of matching candleholders.

constructed with great prudence
ages have long passed

What Did The 3 Legged Dog Say To The 2 Legged Cat?
What an amazing thing to see by any eye. Two creatures on there way home, spoke as
if they were from a war zone.
All though both were missing parts, they had tremendous heart. Cat, what do they call
you? My friends call me 2 Blue.
Dog, what do they call you? My friends call me 3 paws. It’s a pleasure to meet you.
Same here 2Blue.
Are you curious? Everybody I meet seems to be. Not really 2 Blue. What rights have I,
to say whose whole? Looks to me like you have plenty of soul.
Thank you 3 Paws; I would imagine you are quite a dog, with lots of heart and plenty of
bark.
So, 2 Blue, what’s up? Seen any action lately? Not since the alley fight in 2002, when my
back was against the wall, and I took a heavy fall.
What about you 3 Paw? What’s your story? Well, it’s a lone one, but I like to keep it
short. I was in the dark in 2007, sniffing like I normally do, when guess who? Right! The
Rockwilder Brothers jumped me.
While running, I slipped on some ice, and they weren’t nice with there bites
I agree, we all learned our lessons in life. Something’s are good, and some aren’t so
nice.
3 Paw, see you around. 2 Blue, I’ll be in town.

As a child,
I loved to watch Grandpa build.
His basement workshop,
was filled with tools.
Tools hanging on every wall,
wood neatly stacked in a pile.
Grandpa worked for hours each day,
filling his many orders.
He built my lovely bed,
pretty flowers carved into the headboard.
One Christmas,
Grandpa built my fun dollhouse.
Today I asked for a small table,
one to fit beside my bed.
Grandpa started working,
he gave me a "Three Legged Table" with a rose carved on top.

Dramatic Monologue
The times are hard
Poor, hungry, lonely...
But we all get by
Never thinking of others
Their feelings
Their hopes
Their anything
As we sit by the fire
He walks the dampened streets
Thinking of how to get something to eat
But throughout a dream
Things may change
And just like that
We lose everything
But on this day
Work was just the same
Just like everyday
We awake
Get dressed
Brush teeth
The same routine
But he
He never knows his last day
So when he awakes
Alive and well
There is always a prayer
And a smile like no other.
Walking slowly, tired from work
Thinking of all the bad things
In your seemingly horrible life
Under your breath you curse
Then decide to take a detour
You turn right,
Right down the way
Where he stays
Tears in his eyes
He puts on a disguise
As you bump him
A common mistake
As you partake in your apologies
He says not a word
But turns and sighs
Though in his mind
He tries not to cry
He did it to survive.
Walking towards your lawn
You see your house gone
Then realize
You have met your demise.
Your own fault
You turned a blind eye
Now it?s your curse
To walk the streets alone
And to take the place
Of a horse with three legs

The Three Legged Cat
By Franklin Price
2/9/2016
The three legged cat, a sight to see,
a long haired Siamese,
a Seal Point there is no mistake,
it's outside in the freeze.
It came up to our back porch;
knocked on the doggie door,
said, “Could I come inside tonight?
It's cold, I do implore”
My wife's a real cat lover,
her eyes were sadness filled,
Said, “We have a box and blanket,
a small shelter we could build.”
I guess I'm just a softy;
especially when it comes to her.
I'm thinking, “It's a long haired cat.
That's why it has it's fur”.
You know that I relented.
We got the blanket and the box;
Made a shelter for the Siamese;
Even got a pair of sox.
Put the shelter on the covered deck
on the lee side of the wall.
She enticed the cat to go inside
all she had to do was call.
We left it looking curiously,
As only cats can do
And as we went into the house
I think it meowed “ Thank you”.
Now it's early morning
We don't know where it's at
Probably went home last night
It was the neighbor's cat.

Out in the country, far from the town,
a three legged hen was pecking the ground.
Cows in the pasture walked one by one
to see the strange thing that nature had done.
Surrounded by creatures large and small,
the beautiful hen looked at them all.
"See what I can do," cackled the fowl.
They all stood in silence, even the owl.
She scratched lines in the soft earth's dew,
Put a leg in a square, then one each in two.
All eyes were upon her as she jumped high
to land three legs in three squares, she did try.
Running was her sport she did insists,
to town and back before she was missed.
Kept one leg always in front to lead her on,
Two for gears and she was gone.
To somersault down a hill;
the three legs wouldn't stay still.
The crowd was amazed at all she could do.
They applauded and cheered, "We love you."
The three legged hen was the happiest one,
so special she felt when the day was done.
Cackling a tune as she danced to the pen.
She really loved to be a three legged hen.

Prose Poetry
If they say, "He's over here!"
Or "Look! He's over there!"
Don't believe it... even if
An angel should announce
That he's is in the east or west.
Jesus has come and gone
And will come again very soon.
The sky will roll back like a scroll;
A trumpet and arch angel's voice
Will sound; then, the reapers
Will gather the chosen few,
Those who will soon disappear.
But other Jesus' have risen today.
They declare themselves God
And lead their sects for sex
Or other pleasure and power.
They have blasphemed Christ
And failed at wilderness temptations.
They isolate their followers in camps
And lead some to premature death.
They receive the Almighty's worship;
Yet, everyone has freedom of speech.
However, no one has the right to identity theft.

Inside our living room, there stood a table.
Three legs it had; its round top was unique.
Mom kept it in the corner, and she’d say
so proudly that the table was antique.
Well polished, it had a vase atop it,
and flawless was its base, legs widely splayed.
One day, with Mom away, we moved it to
another room. A few games we then played.
Our chairs fit well round that three-legged table
as we played our Yahtzee and Crazy Eights.
A lovely afternoon we spent, just I
with two of my dear sisters as my mates.
One sister (I can’t recall which one now)
brought drinks to us, and just as Mom walked in,
I spilled my drink! Mom became hysteric
as if I had committed some great sin!
She yanked us off our chairs and quickly wiped
the spillage – yelling at us the whole time.
The table got put back into its corner,
and we were punished for our little crime.
The vase was put back on the table’s top,
and we three got no soup that night to sup.
Mom’s in a nursing home now; we’ve all grown.
I wonder where that table ended up!

Nimblest stick skims hit drum skin
Bring submittance to my ears afore deafened
Transmitted rhythm rips something
Transcribes fusion to percussionless essence
Slight vibration of battered recipient
Resonates hot with beat's cogent command
Arcaic lyrics kept frosted ambivalent
Snare wires wrap me tight with dire demand
Equipped persistent musician tender
Taps jazz ostinato out until my innards revolt
Sends suddenly a heart buzz centred
Haphazard feeds my ardent uncovered pulse
Simultaneous cymbal clash climactic
Existing utterly in thrum ghost note's vacance
Subdivision given in drummer's frantic
Twirled gut spasms driven by his incessance

Theres a three legged dog called bobby and some folks call him robbie
Which he doesnt like
He has to be kept on a rope so he doesnt elope from the garden he bathes in all day
Theres adventure in his soul and he likes a full food bowl
He lost his leg crossing the road one day
You know it doesnt hold him back hes still the leader of the pack but he really does like to stray
His coat is ginger and white and he would never bite but he would like a taste of the car that hit him that day
When he goes for a wee he doesnt have to cock it you see
Its not bad being three legged bobby

Rescue haven, a stray little cat
front leg mangled, fur all matt.
No fluffy toy, this poor wee mite
eyes full of trust, denying his plight.
Minus his leg, fur closely shorn,
cuddled in blanket, cosy and warm.
Petted, pampered, he thrived and grew
soft velvet fur. A Russian Blue.
He rules the roost, this regal cat,
his lair… my bed, kingdom my flat.
Beautiful beast so much adored,
faith in this world, renewed, restored.
Fills up my life with sparkle bright,
just being near holds true delight.
My shadow now this ball of fluff,
his trusting eyes, reward enough.

Jeff the three-legged worm
they weren’t his legs
but legs that he’d found
from old bits of twig
just scattered around
he once saw a centipede
who laughed and made fun
of a young and shy Jeff
stuck on his tum
but Jeff swam through soil
and the centipede saw
staring in wonder
amazement and awe
the twig legs put by now
but kept just in case
although Jeff seems ok
from the beam on his face

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three Legged Table
Above the polished face of the petite gueridon
A crystal chandelier sparkles in dreamy hues
As one candlestick flickers in perfume,
One red rose dreams of minuets,
Upheld by gilded caryatides of innocence,
Draped maidens and daughters of Athens,
In salons where graceful reveries
Twirl in graceful circles
Around the teapoy’s edge.
Unmasked rhapsodies
Shimmer with the indelible mystery
Of one fleeting ambrosia midnight,
Glowing in an amber flush of reflection
With bittersweet rondos,
Immanent in lacy silhouettes
Of dulcet invitation,
To swell in crescendos of shadows,
Dancing butterflies mirrored in the table’s face.
My life is a three-legged stool:
family; job; and poetry.
With only two, my life’s not full,
my life is a three-legged stool.
To keep me standing one cannot be pulled;
what makes me me is to have all three.
My life is a three-legged stool:
family; job; and poetry.
My life is a three-legged stool,
with only two, my life’s not full.
To keep me standing one cannot be pulled;
what makes me me is to have all three:
family; job; and poetry
and, the three-legged stool I’ll always be.
