Best Tchaikovsky Poems
Every day with practice in tights and leotard
Her spring cherry lips sprout in the imprint of joy
A mind without fear...she was born to dance
A girl who can perform classical ballet,
long before she has learned to spell her own name
As a swan in graceful movements,
engulfed in the magic of movement and light
The emotions are pulled through her skin
with a flowing inspiration
exactly on the right technique
The eagerness, the curiosity and the wonder
in every tiny step
In a romantic white tutu with red sequins
Exquisite movements and the choreography divine
She could have been the swan princess in the ballet
Swan Lake with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
The wings of a bird that is still too young
the fire is burning in her future dreams

Disenchanted with ennui,
I want to my earth
To meet the sky,
To catch a falling star
Outside a ‘Monday thru Friday’
‘Nine to Five’ job,
But traffic on the eight eighty
Enshackles me in the tapestries of my mind.
Amnesia walks me through corridors of lice
Armed with coffee cups, the stock market on the radio,
I have lost all with my nasdaq fall
Into bars and brothels of dubious repute,
All is carnal after all.
Entrapment with Chopin on the alarm clock,
Donuts oozing with cream, wiped away with a napkin,
How do I get away from Tchaikovsky at night?
As the older whores at last snore,
I light a cigarette and lean out my window
To wail a poem, catch a falling star.

The tale Tchaikovsky wove that day
Lives on and on upon a stage
Spun by pirouettes ...and plie's
An epic story of love conveyed
Through the beauty of ballet
Prince Siegfried and his Queen Odette
Who gave their lives without regret
To live forever bound together
As beautiful birds of a feather
As two swans upon a lake

Authors note: Plie' is a french word
pronounced Plee ay

“Dreams Coercing Memory”
You want cherries jubilee
with a little Krug champagne
but soft custard is just the same
when reality plays its game
by the spoonful
morphine comes
to save the day
the light changes
subtle refractions
of dreams coercing
memory
long elegant fingers
poised painted apricots
those false '70s fingernails
tremendous talons
for Tchaikovsky takeoff
gracefully shimmering
glamorously sparkling
eyes smiling, clicking keys
without fear, the notes become
a romantic Chopin mystery
pianola peddles
next to her laughs
and says with glee,
a good exercise
back then, we didn't
have the time, says
the matriarch smiling
just like a mother
come to collect
on the other side
her sister, hand on shoulders
sits next to her
a Nightingale Linnet
the number
at pianola
3
one number
most
profound
one number
devine aligned,
most hard to forget
or push aside
kept close
in Love and loved
for all eternity
this one
as 3
should never hide

Symphonies and ballets
No wonder you are loved.
“The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake”
Were those ones you dreamed of?
I heard you filled halls and auditoriums
You were good at painting music with soul
A romantic prodigy of your era
“Has a profound tune as a whole”.
Your overflowing melodies and harmonies
They sound like a quaint orchestration
Where everything flows with the beauty
It moves my emotion.

"The Colour of the Breeze"
Star Jasmine,
orange blossom,
pine leaves, and
floating cymbidium
dipping oars
into purple and white
Agapanthus, drip off
a lid on that day
exotic Nile lilies
with lips of mead
drip potency
singing only
the sweetest
memories
the tiger lilies roar,
in silence, cut up, bittersweet,
they are sitting
torn fresh in the pew,
in front of me
watching and waiting
for what?
gravity in the moment
just, being
colour me cryptic
Agapanthas purr
through closed
jade mysteries
on that day indigo
blue ... a date with
destiny,
a winsome crew
each with their secrets
renewed, knew
they try to sing hymns
whispering, thinking
I could never do this
such singing
ridiculous
they try to sing hymns
whispering, thinking
I am not near them
but I am all the
colours miraculous
surrounding them
speaking
in different tongues
I lean into them, listening
leaves
floating like notes
to remember
found in
the colour of the breeze
lifting potent memories
freedom then,
nothing stopping me

I want to take your hand
And dance with you, on the silver sand
To Nature’s beat and the rhythm of the sea
I want to watch you sway
To the pulsating sounds of club deejay
Lost in the music with your hair flying free
I want to see you dance inside
Mesmerised, as the dancers glide
Across the stage to Prokofiev or Tchaikovsky
I want to take you to our bed
And dance to the music in your head
Lost in the ballet, swaying free
Liquid motion, like the sea
Pulsating to nature’s sensual beat
Glistening in the flames of our passionate heat
Come dance with me…

BE CAREFUL
Be careful what you ask for
One day life is simple, you ask
a female colleague at a partnering
organization not to call you “doctor”,
“professor” and such, then she says
your name the way a symphony orchestra
tears into the finale of a spirited overture
by Tchaikovsky or Rossini and suddenly
your feeling like the primus pilus, the
first violin, the anchor baton, the broad-
shouldered stroke in an eight-oared shell
or the seminal man with genes of genius
in his jeans: powerful, confident, perhaps
dangerously exposed – a burden you
don’t need
If you’re only doing business,
let formality play its role!

I freely admit I love classical music,
And please don't think me a snob
If I keep my composure
When I mention composers
As Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Schumann,
And not Ludie, or Wolfie,
Or Petie, or Bob.
And a symphony simply cannot be enjoyed
At just any old time of the day.
I can't listen to them
Prior to seven p.m.,
And I don't mean to brag, but I couldn't be dragged
To a Wednesday or Saturday matinee
Of a ballet by Bizet or Massenet.
My taste in classical music, you see,
Is eclectic, but not meant to shock.
I choose Strauss for the schmaltz
Of a polka or waltz,
And Chopin is my dude when I crave an etude,
But I do tend to doze in my seat in the loge
Through an opera by Wagner…
Or more Offenbach.

Tuneful dew
Drifted along
with the tender rhythm
of Tchaikovsky
“the season- June barcarolle”
was
the most extremely
wonderful moment
yet
unable to find
the comfy words
to express
the feeling inside
like
the tuneful dew
sweeten my heart
and
explored
my deepest thoughts
how beautiful
comforted me
no less
