I saw a tap-dancer with
Squirming sheaf of vigor
Toes tapping as if dancing.
Is he hoping for a rendezvous?
His Dachshund-clan romance?
Prancing around like ponies
With gentle nose, silent eyes
With sweet licks and nuzzles.
Care free clan, if they like it
It can never be of anyone else.
If they take it anything from anywhere
It’s theirs and of nobody else’s.
The four legged hairy puppets
With all the fascinating features.

I don’t think a dachsie thinks of money
Or fame or other worldly pleasures
But thinking of the pure love of God
Remembering always those moments
By waggling his tail with pure love and joy.
When He made him to brighten up
The day of Adam and Eve and then
Christening them as “dog”, a reflection
Of His own as one looks into the mirror.

Was going to look for my missing watch
But just couldn't find the time
Simply no telling where my mind is going
This very strange mind of mine

Here's the ultimate groaner, my friends
I used to be a good tap dancer
But then one sad day I fell in the sink
Asked how I was, couldn't answer

D'ya hear about the crime that happened
In a downtown parking garage?
It was so damn wrong on so many levels
Heard it was a case of sabotage

With the scary approach of the apocalypse
Armageddon out of here
That's silly, whoever's coming up with these
Is more than just a little bit weird

A man had a difficult time bouncing back
From a serious bungee cord accident
Been to the dentist and I know the drill
Tells me toothaches you can prevent

Reading a great book about anti-gravity
Find it almost impossible to put down
It's floating around the living room all day
One time it nearly broke my crown

Dead batteries are sometimes given away
Free of charge I have heard
Think someones's trying to brighten my day
Now that is downright absurd

A Morning Walk In the Woods

A woodpecker raps a rotary phone tone
Then redials because be gets no answer.
Staccato hammer on a hard wood tree
To the beat of a madcap tap dancer.

Trees resplendent in their Autumn finest
A silhouette for a blue cloudless sky.
Cold dark shadows crawl across the wet grass
A black hawk is weaving circles on high.

Fallen leaves crackle and crunch underfoot.
Plump squirrels gather nuts for the Winter
Chipmunks scurry across worn man-made paths
Like kids darting through a garden sprinkler.

The sun's casting spears of light through the trees.
You can almost hear the falling leaves drop.
There's a vague sense of what we all may have lost
When we were expelled from that first garden spot.

Been writing some “not so fun” poems lately
Time to get back to the silly stuff
No matter what we do, nuttin's gonna change
Bad stuff, we've heard quite enough

D'ya hear the one about this unfortunate fellow
Whose whole left side was cut off
Sure sounds to me like an extremely sad event
Seems he's all RIGHT now, did you scoff?

Gotta a big bunch more, d'ya wanna hear 'em
Why was the baseball getting bigger
Then without any warning, it suddenly hit me
There was some groans, I figure

Hard boiled eggs are very hard to beat
This one's a real good laugher
Leaving alphabet soup on the stove overnight
Certainly could spell disaster

My tennis opponent wasn't happy with my serve
He kept on returning the damn thing
Used to be a tap dancer until Tuesday last week
Fell off the tap into the sink

Chickens crossing the road are poultry in motion
Things round here are getting tense
The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table
Was of course, Sir Cumference

Had enough or do you want to hear more
Okay one more then it's over
When the cannibal showed up late for dinner
They gave him the old cold shoulder

(a silly series of Senryus)

It’s time to cram for
final exams, again, so
here we go, mug up.

My mind, coffee dark,
drifts in academic dreams,
—think roiling oceans.

A ‘mandatory’
society meeting? You’re
not the boss of me.

I’ll shun or eschew,
if I want too, sidestepping,
like a tap dancer.

I'm not lazy - I'm
high tech and in energy
saving mode now.

It’s a pointed and
conscious decision—I’ll do
me and you do you.

Weasel

a bite like hot charcoal
              a nate full
              of stolen baby teeth

that scythes off dried skin
              ripped off like old wallpaper
              the tearing of small birds

hidden under an early barn
              mice shake like clocks
              and cry in cold straw

You tap dancer,
as cruel as a broken tooth
as evil as a round eye

Free Cee-Hands Off the Merchan-Price

HANDS OFF THE MERCHAN-PRICE

Boys, the price is now ten dollars a dance
Due mostly to this country’s inflation
But if someone said you get more than a dance
Mister, you got some faulty information

I can do almost any dance you request
I can dance like a seraph, a sprite or an elf
When it comes to dancing, man, I am the best
But mister, you had better keep your hands to yourself

I’ll jiggle and wiggle and I might even giggle
And there ain’t a dance that’s opposed to me
Hold me tight while you spin me around
But mister, keep your hands where they’re supposed to be

I can adapt to most any dance you might choose
A tap dancer or a hot hula dancer, honey I can be them
I’m adept at adapting to anything you may want
But mister, keep your hands where I can see them

Boys, the price is now ten dollars a dance
Due mostly to this country’s inflation
But if someone said you get more than a dance
Mister, you got some faulty information

I will shake it and make it a dance worthwhile
And it will be my curves that you will ponder
It will be the best ten dollars you ever spent
But mister, don’t coerce your hands to wander

Ten dollars will get you the dance of your life
But only if you are able to meet my price
The two of us can dance the whole night away
But mister, keep your hands off the merchandise

It’s only a dance, and that’s all you will get
Gimme ten bucks and you can take my hand
But honey, don’t expect extra for your money
Okay, a peck on the cheek will cost you an extra grand

But don’t forget that I’m married to a man in the band
Because I am married to that drummer in the baaaaandddddddd!

Premium Member When She's Sick I'M So In Trouble - In the Words of a Hapless Husband

When she’s sick I’m so in trouble
Rocks my world, bursts my bubble,
All at once my head is spinning,
Forehead aching, hair fast thinning.

I’m not trained to handle chores,
Clean the house, go to stores,
Cook the meals, feed the kids,
My existence on the skids.

Give me patience, show me how
She won’t quickly disavow
This poor man she claimed to love
And not give him one huge shove.

I’ll do better, I’ll learn fast,
Even try to make it last,
Wash the sheets, make the bed,
Just the thought fills me with dread.

Shoulders back, chin protruding,
Smile so wide, no more brooding,
‘Yes, My Dear’ the sure answer,
Float on air like a tap dancer.

Read her cues as if an actor
Whatever challenge not a factor,
Learn each job just like a pro,
Then recount it blow by blow.

I adore this girl so much,
There’s truly nothing I won’t touch,
Clean or fix around the house
To be that perfect loving spouse.

But God I pray with all my soul
That soon you make her fully whole,
Please start now and make it fast
As for sure I won’t long last.

Tested On Algebra, Well No Duh

We were tested on algebra
Well no duh.
I have been to trig and back
while still keeping algebra on track
These are questions you can answer
they are not asking you to be a tap dancer
Put your silly doubts to rest
and be done with this stupid algebra test!

This is done as a response to my dear friend, Bridget Williams' poem, Tested On Algebra
