Dreams of India

Her music haunts me
in such a knowing way
it makes me weep
and causes my heart to ache.

I become homesick for her
scents, her sounds, her food,
her enchanting dance
which spawns dreams
of her romance.

I know in my heart
I have lived there,
I know, I have loved there.

Her poetry transcends
my spirit to encompass
a wholeness that is
so familiar to me.

I dream of the Ganges ,
and her gentle cleansing flow,
of reflections on its surface
when the moon is hanging low.

Of crickets singing nightly
to serenade me to sleep.
I dream of colors of the saris,
the beauty that they keep...

Of garlands placed with care,
a gajra in a maiden's hair
and the hues of floral leis.

I hold a reverence for Hindu
Devata and Devi.
I aspire to learn the sacredness
of varmala in the seeds of
past lifetimes I have shared.

A passion grows for those
whose love glows through their
auras to welcome strangers.

I'd love to share a cup of chai
to chat with friends in open air.
I long to return home, though
I have never been there.

*a gajra: flowers which females use as a decoration
for their hair.

*Varmala: is a tradition from ancient times where a beautiful garland of flowers symbolizes a proposal of marriage. In the tradition of Swayamvar. A female would choose her life partner from a group of suitors by placing a flower garland around the neck of her chosen man. Once the girl had made her choice, a marriage ceremony would be held gright away.

Walls of silence hold,
 Me prisoner,
The child held within,
 Cries out for release.
Relative solitude comforts,
Not the tortured soul,
Inward coiling withdrawing,
 Deep inside.
Shedding its outer skins,
 Protective
Layer thus preserving its,
 Inner being.
Innocents shroud lies in ruins.
Gentle spirit, cast aside wings,
 Damaged appendages.
The fallen angel kneels in,
 Shame,
Shadows before mankind.
Unanswered prays rest upon,
 Deaf ears.
Muted sobs, echo on stilled,
 Winds breath.
Hardening to stone, the
 Chilled heart
 Reflects frozen repose.
Forgotten amongst mine own,
 Kindred,
Childhood symbolizes a betrayed,
 Victim’s refuge.
Small fragile hands reach out,
 Into nothingness,
Hollow space grasping into,
 Oblivion.
Chained shackles twist,
 Imaginations warped view,
Somber tones cloud troubled,
 Thoughts.
Amidst life's trials, I'm aimlessly,
 Adrift,
Without any form of stability.
I, alone remain shambles,
 Wreckage.
Displaced and damaged,
Beyond repair.
A broken doll thrown away,
By those who should have,
Cared for her the most.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

A Burst of Orange

A Burst Of Orange
By Lauren Hardman

For me,
Orange
Bright and new
Symbolizes warmth
Acceptance
And strength.

Orange blends well
With fuchsia pink.
The two colors
Match up nicely
To construct
Alluring sunsets
Along with sunrises.

Orange has
An intermediate tone
That isn’t black or white.
It allows for great contrasts
With numerous colors.
That’s a facet of orange
That I appreciate.
It’s kind of like life.
People need to be different
To be united.

The brilliant color
Makes me feel elated!
It uplifts my mood,
Molds my personality,
Puts my mind at ease.
It unfolds a creative
Sweet side of me.
That lets me be
Who I am.

I realized who I am
By doing things I love.
Singing,
Playing piano,
Drawing designs,
Examining various colors,
Crafting poems like this one.

I believe that
All colors tap into
The depths of your imagination
And provide
Great insight
Into who you are.

Ecstasy

E yeing the majesty and magnificence in the great gifts of God's
C reations affects me in the most reflective way. The moon and
S tars provide light in my darkest nights, and the beauty of snow-
T opped mountain peaks makes me gasp in wonder. A golden sunrise
A cross green valleys is as resplendent a vision as the moments before
S unset, when its magenta drowning symbolizes another day is done.
Y ielding to time, I pause in awe of His splendors; totally entranced.

Remnant

REMNANT
The Book of Prophecy was open to a silent page.
Tis she thought of the biblical generation in forty stages.
Her heart she hears.
In this life that Ora lives, she has fought for wisdom to ensure longevity.
Salient she sits looking out in the sunflower fields.

The vented darkness encapsulated.
Her mind ponders on the spiritual world.
She was, she felt, as lost as Poe.
Her favorite Poet of long ago spoke through his writings to only Ora.

In the fields, stands the raven.
A bird of blackness and such beauty but yet a threat to her, she felt she was
     attached to a nonphysical existence.
Transcendental was the raven's head as she perched on the mantle.

She takes her breath every time because this woman fears what this
     symbolizes.
Surcease, this woman would shout aloud.
No respect for me do you have at my house.
Such demeanor is not to be tolerated.
This woman strikes out at the raven.

The raven flipped her wings beguilingly with decorum of her wickedness.
The forty years has transgressed with the omen sent.
This woman was struck by the raven’s beak.
Mournful she lays with her memory defeated.

Tis morn came and she lays awaken.
Ora’s visitors found her in a pitiful state.
They prepared her chambers for her to rest.
Will she live to see the next forty years?

Of youthful existence, she was.
Of her age, she was not.
The raven figurative existence defined her knowledge.
Portent and fore token, a scoff of hope is the raven augury.
She is epoch to her well-being.

May this story end?
Nevermore

May you soar on eagle wings, high above the madness of the world.
~ Jonathan Lockwood Huie

American Spirit

As eagle swoops at break of day,
     talons cling to wriggling prey.
Having hunted and found his quest
he soon returns to guard his nest.

Shimmering cliffs that brightly shine
     from rust colored monoliths high,
Create golden treasures
     within the sunset sky.

The scent of autumn's in the air;
     chill of night falls fast.
The eagle soars through clouded sky,
his kingdom won in triumphs past.

Isaiah 40:31 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

For generations, Native American tribes have associated the Eagle with vision, wisdom, and strength. The predatory spirit animal symbolizes taking responsibility for one’s actions, healing nature and treading lightly as a matter of respect for Mother Earth.

Premium Member The Third Eye In Hinduism-N

The spirit or third eye is the center to see the world
Without it there is all pervading spiritual darkness.
We are truly spirits who occupy physical bodies
Without bodies couldn’t be a part of physical reality.

Boosts functions of perception, intuition, visualization
Its element light, the seat of the Soul, color indigo
The ability to see within and beyond the physical
Between eyebrows the tenth gate of inner realms.

In Hinduism one of the Lord Shiva of Trinity is three-eyed
It symbolizes spiritual knowledge and power or wisdom
Left eye the moon, right the sun and fire the third
Known to annihilate the evil activities in the physical world.

We danced like dappled light through swaying trees
our golden embers stoked by panting breeze
in bed of canterbury red and phlox.
As lusty wooing coos did float through morn
love sounds of seventh heaven Sol did scorn;
with scents and flames of burning equinox,
our passion dimmed the jealous sun with ease.

Premium Member The Wish Was You and I

A monument to precious arts, a masterpiece you are
With imposing high Baroque columns regally looking down
Upon the dream of sculptors and vision of the Roman era
Evoking ancient memoirs from grandeur of renaissance.

Tickling your marble stature, foaming water giggles down
As you empower Oceanus on a chariot lead by Tritons
Beaming your glamorous sight on authentic ornate art
Dazzling decorative architecture for enchanted crowds.

When street winds bellow in, shimmering bright light-beams
In your stare you hold strangers, as they sing your praises.
Enhancing theme, Trevi Fountain, you arouse playful gleams
Flaunting your smiles upon glittering green water streams.

Splendor of Neptune emanates from your renown beauty
Granting wishes of the sensuous amorous sensibilities--
Seeking sea-God's blessings, they toss in two lucky coins
And in reply you echo their vibes: the wish was you and I.

NOTE:
The Trevi Fountain is a tourist attraction located in Rome, Italy. The fountain is famous for its Baroque architecture and decorative ornate art. The center piece is the Greek sea God Oceanus (representing the sea God Neptune), riding his chariot pulled by two sea horses and accompanied by two Tritons. Throwing two coins in the fountain symbolizes romance. One coin assures return trip to Rome. Three coins symbolize wedding bells.

and I have found the light in the darkness
the LORD lights up my path . . .

"I am the light of the world whoever follows me
will never walk in the darkness . . . " John 8:12

The moment I let this light in I became the light
that shines bright for others so they can find the way
and on my darkest days the light guides me
it gives me courage to go on though shattered sad . . .

"The LORD is my light and salvation, whom shall
I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life,
of whom shall I be afraid ?" Psalm 27:1

              When I am lost
and the deep scars on my soul bleed

I seek the light deep within me . . .

"And those who are wise shall shine like the

the LORD is my light out of the darkness . . .

Don'T Want To Get Stuck Living a Lie

Don't want to get stuck living a lie
In a relationship that barely gets by
Day to day your heart unable to finalize
Stuck together unwilling to try
Anything new that makes us comply

Waking up every morning asking yourself why
Month after month wanting to say goodbye
How being together just makes you want to cry
Meanwhile, your life just keeps passing on by
Pray tomorrow leads to a different kind of high

So tired of living this alibi
Dreaming of a love that will kiss the sky
Without worrying where the other end lye
When I can open my eye's
Wanting to fantasize
Without feeling like someone wants to analyze
A well thought out surprise

Unable to find any compromise
Constantly feeling criticized
I have come to realize
How it all feels capsized
Hoping you will be able to empathize
That I am going to find another to harmonize

So every day will be like a new sunrise
With a woman who wants to maximize
All that symbolizes life's highest high's
One who wants to customize
A love that defies
Everything that makes your heart want to fly
Instead of living a love based on a lie

Premium Member Falling Kindness

Written February 28, 2025, For contest Sponsored by: Sara Jama

               ************************
On a planet
where kindness truly counts,
people's eyes widened as
the last petal fell.
Tears slid silently through empty rooms,
I gasped for air,
staring blankly into
chasm of despair.
It's a worldwide struggle aimed
at protecting our
extraordinary ecosystems.
Both motivation and meanness
chip away at the heart
of our real worth.
leading us to falter
as we strive to create
a pathway to a lasting future.
Beasts and beings alike,
both broken and bound,
navigate this challenging
reality together.

The final flicker of
life appears before us,
we face a dreadful plunge
into darkness that
we are forced to endure
in s o l i t u d e.
We offer guidance that
no one will ever abandon.
Ancient guardians of
the land and the people
who inhabit it stand
watch over us.
Sadly, the harsh reality of
existence is beginning to settle in.
We have measured our value
against wantonness winding
our journey toward its conclusion.

The softly fading rustle
of the foliage has also faded.
There's a wonderful warmth and
a welcoming embrace felt
among all living beings.
In the darkness with my
eyelids tightly shut,
a gentle breeze of
goodwill sweeps it all away.
As delicate petals f a l l. . .
a tear rolls down.
This symbolizes the lives
of those irrevocably amended.
Disappointment is woven into society,
and standards are shattered.
Unspoken words linger,
in the corners of memory.
Shadows quietly drift
through broken spaces—
where death meets its apex,
in stillness and serenity.
The fragmented hush of
the sunset s i l e n c e,
where once screams echoed.
