Best Scarcer Poems

Love's Sundial

The great circle dawning light have given past,
Cockcrows, birds chirping, life springs, into new beauty.
Noon, o how it warmed the humid fill air fast;
Afternoon, it grows cold, and weary, its neglect of duty,
Scarcer the sight of life, to the evening cracks,
Where the beauty sets its last warm felt glow,
Loves journey, two way streets, once overflowed, now lacks,
Daunting nightfall has crept where love lets go.

Premium Member Nine Days Off

High fives.
Jive talkin'.
I get off at five.

Five is dark these days,
thriving is scarcer and
scarcer.

Deprivation has lots of syllables.
So many that it distracts from contemptible
WAIT! That sounds judgmental.

I don't want to sound that way.

So I will make my way.
Hope somebody's god grants me
patience!

Premium Member The Lament

The Lament

We followed where they went.
We cried to them on occasion.
They were guides, intelligent hunters
and companions.

We would sing by our fires
and they, by moonlight.
We were curious of them,
and they of us,
each optimistic of the other.

Food grew scarce for us,
scarcer still for them.
Strangers were taking,
stealing and wasting.

We all wasted away,
us and they.

When the wolves went silent
we followed where they went.

Premium Member Human Not Angel

Because I live, I cannot alter the wind, but I can adjust my sails to ensure that I land safely all the time. By Poet

Because I live among humans and not angels
I cherish affection in all aspects of my life
We shall remain in love as long as we are alive
In our world, beauty is becoming scarcer
Moreover, we act as if nothing is significant

Because I live, delight stems solely from love
As social beings, that's just how we behave
And we are here to express and bestow passion
Recover cheerfully when life knocks you down
Our lifestyle is absurd, but we are not insane

Love, sympathy, and respect are what fuel us
Wealth is essential, but it's not everything
Realize that life unfolds as you're scheming
Either you grasp the day or it steers you

Oh, the golden radiance of the past is gone!
Sacred stones are now present everywhere
Our house is a beacon in the pitch-black night
Our mother's voice is audible in the shadows

Oh, poor kids, once worth their weight in gold
They are now regarded as pottery made of clay!
They are living oblivious to the lives they've changed
People gave other people purpose and brightness

Because I am yet alive, leaps are being made
Twists and connections abound throughout
Since our lives are connected, I get hollered at
My influence has been recognized frequently
I am, however, largely focused on my own life.

Premium Member A Basic Economic Reality

A basic cause of inflation is an economic reality
Which has little to do with prevailing political ideology,
Rather it is rooted in elementary consumerism
And stopping it depends on a proper methodology.
Demand for a specific commodity goes out of control
When there is far more demand than availability.
Simply, a shortage of supplies to meet the demands
The higher price that short commodity commands.

A shortage of goods caused by supply chain woes
Made huge numbers of commodities scarcer, you see
And those vendors who could raised their prices,
So many things cost more than they had previously.
Fears oil-producing countries might not meet needs
Lead to major oil companies raising prices per gallon.
Indeed, some gouging no doubt elevates our concern
Some commodities also purposely held up, we learn.

Consider, some major corps are making record profits
And there seems no lack of the commodity they sell
Particularly pharmaceuticals have an increasing market
They can regulate the number of pills produced, do tell.
So inflationary prices, in this specific case, are artificial
Check out the earnings/loss statements of drug moguls.
You will do a slow burn discovering this manipulation
Producers won’t admit their fault for spiraling inflation.

Inflationary trend is designed to destroy the middle class
The rich can afford to pay more for what they indulge
While the middle class struggles to afford the necessities,
But don’t expect astute politicians this fact to divulge.
They will raise the federal interest rates promising relief
But commonsense tells us that, too, hurts the little man.
Unfortunately, we have also farmed out manufacturing
So, we have lost commodity control to stupid posturing.

[along with a degree in American history,
I have studied graduate level economics.
There is much more to inflation, but we
must not overlook basic consumerism.]

1914-1918 World War 1

1914-1918 World war 1

Bullets flying over trenches
Can’t see too much for smoke that stenches

Lieutenant makes orders to stand here fast
Don’t be scared chaps we’re having a blast

Feet so cold my boots feel like ice
My mother sent me a letter and some cake that’s nice

Taffy told me of his girlfriend at home
I hope he sees her soon this boy has grown

The food is scarce and the moral even scarcer
We know we are the last battalion between the Germans but God won’t make me a martyr

More troops arrive and we push the Germans back to slaughter
England has won the war and I cry to know I’ll see my bonny daughter

God save the King.

Bear Talk

Oh what a thrill
sliding downhill
an icy peak
then go back up
for a repeat
just for the fun
of it!
Beat my brother
at a wrestling match
then cuddle up
for mother’s milk
buttery fat
sweet.
It’s spring!
Mom is hunting
seals for meals
patiently waiting
by the hole
ring
till a head pops up
to breathe
then down goes mom
with lightning speed
to snatch it up
for a banquet meal.
Summer is hot
under Hudson Bay
sky
ice like a baby
cries!
Then starts
our long
miles long hike
leaving beyond
what was ice
now a liquid sky
of sparkling stars.
Food will be scarce inland
and scarcer yet
with summers getting longer
and ice seasons shorter.
I learned mom’s lessons well
to approach the prey
downwind undetected
but it's sad
there won’t be enough
for us bears to share
and some will be left
inland
among the dead.
Think of our habitat
when a stuffed bear
you hug to your heart
because that’s all
you may have left
if for nature
you have no respect.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Police have arrested a woman they say robbed a South Bend
restaurant while tearfully apologizing to the cashier. The woman, whose identity wasn't
released, was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on a charge of theft Tuesday night.
According to a police report, the woman told the cashier at the Long John Silver's restaurant
she had a gun and needed money, then began crying and said, "If I wasn't down and out, I
wouldn't be doing this."
As the woman waited at the counter, a customer in the drive-through line called police. The
woman was running across a nearby parking lot as police arrived and arrested her. Police
said no weapon was found.

It seems that the times have changed
In effect, it changed me and you
As needs are ever greater
Cash and cents are few

The burden of the masses, remains
To provide for family’s needs
And much because corporations
Have bigwigs who like greed

The jobs are ever scarcer
As we all seek a new wage
But now it’s too competitive
Within this day and age

So, we’re left to just survive
And do so in any way
I do so hope these times pass
But yet, it’s not today

A Womb

We all first experience these marvelous sensations while lying within the mystical womb,

With all the moist, dripping, warmth, and sentiment cascading a dark looming feeling of
a tomb,

There’s no other place that’s scarcer than this,

It’s been known to be the birth place for many and a sexual part of the body to kiss!

As a little youth it’s our untold story about the bird and the bees,

Are when you’re with that special girl and all the other kids are yelling out Johnny and
Jennifer sitting in the tree,

Do you remember as little kids we all came together to play House,

It seems like it was always the little boys to request for the lights to be out.

It was always that captivating womb that lingered within our heads,

To this day many men could not lie still if that womb is lying next to them in bed,

It’s like Heaven to most men, the Pearly Gates to come across,

However, if you come across a womb too big for you to fit in at that point you know
you’re soldier is not the boss!

So go ahead and reminisce on time well spent,

But let me say this here, for those of you who took pleasure within these words it’s
now time for you to repent,

Some of you took these words and made them out to be sexually explicit,

And the true meaning and morals to these words it appears you all truly missed it!

These words weren’t about sex nor was it intended for sexual thoughts,

Yes, I spoke on that mystical womb because it brought someone dear to my heart,

Indeed, the womb is a wonderful place to venture a place unlike this world,

A true reason I now have a deep appreciation for my wife’s womb is because it
brought forth my beautiful baby girl!

Keeping Faith

The future ahead seems so blackened in cast,
And the dark burrows into the dreams of the past,
Light for the blind being led by the blind
Figures curiously absent, scarcer to find.

Left-over feelings emotionally burn
On the remnants of hope, and then in return
Surf over the memories with nonchalant tide
And the signs on all exits read "access denied."

Alone and defenceless, at mercy of grief,
Precious moments embezzled, time is the thief,
Yet humanity's fail-safe kicks in at the brink:
There is only so far that a person can sink.

We are never alone, for somehow and somewhere
Someone else feels the anguish and bothers to care,
The resulting instructions remind us remain
Keeping faith with the others who feel for our pain.

Seasons

Clear skies,
Warm sun,
Cool breeze,

Birds chirping,
Squirrels scurrying,
Stream bubbling,

Sun grows hotter
Dirt gets drier

Clear skies,
Hot sun,
No breeze,

Tree's shade,
Lemonade,
Stream trickling,

Sun grows cooler
Tree's turn oranger

Drifting clouds,
Lukewarm sun,
Cold breeze,

Scarves fluttering,
Windows shuttering,
Stream rising,

Sun grows colder
Leaves get scarcer

Cloudy skies,
Cold sun,
Icy breeze,

Animals sleeping,
Everyone dreaming,
Stream frozen,

Twilight,
Moonlight,
Countdown to midnight,

Confetti and champagne,
As it all begins again.
