Best Retiring Poems
As each squall breaks the random motion starts
Leaves twigs and dust in chaos whirl and skitter
Yet at its core remains a still calm heart
The land shall be restored to a pristine glitter
But this metaphor denies a truth thereon
That neath that placid heart there is motion frantic
As vigorous paddling of the gliding swan
Not still, though cool and smoothing surface antic
Thus these images of one who many a year
Maintained a calm at eye of every storm
Was anchor to this college barque sans peer
Then held its course to waters clear and warm

Ode
Retiring Cowboy
He hung up his bridle by his bed on the wall.
His rig is preserved on a stand by the stall.
His old Appaloosa has been turned out to graze.
As he sits in his rocker and dreams of old days.
For years he worked hard herding cattle all day.
He worked hard to earn a poor cowboy’s pay.
There were days he would rise barely bearing the pain.
He would climb in the saddle and hang on to the mane.
Starting out riding drag then flank and then swing.
Then point man a position he wanted more than anything.
The job was hard but it beat the rest.
It didn’t take long till he was the best.
He worked hard to work his way up to trail boss.
He was tough but fair a man no man would cross.
And his horse came to be his very best friend.
They stuck together through thick and through thin.
Hot summer days and winters so cold.
Misery torment and torture untold.
But when it was finally all said and done.
He would never have traded with anyone.

I heard you just retired today
Now I have something to say
Get your head out of the sky
Don’t let your life pass you by
Pack your bags, hop in your car
You can travel near or just go far
See all the states you never saw
See the wonders, like Niagara Falls
Take a trek up the Appalachian Trail
Or buy a big boat and just let it sail
There’s plenty of golf in Myrtle Beach
And plenty of fine food just in reach
Loving adventure is the greatest potion
Take a plane ride across the Atlantic Ocean
You’ve got the money and the time
If you need a friend, keep me in mind

Thinking of retiring my limerick pen
Replacing it with a hoity toity pen and then
If y'all get on your bikes
And take proverbial hikes
Maybe I'll just go back to writing limerick gems

Kenny's retiring, no more touring for him
Perhaps I could take his place, still got vigor and vim
No one would know
Attending a show
Absolute millions from this charade I could skim

Limerick
“Seventy-four is about apology,” said Ferdy.
“Well apology and memory.
If you have literary pretensions, it's about
apology and narrative.”
Ferdy's class sat there dumfounded.
This was a little different from the usual class.
“The only question left is
how much apology is needed? when can one let up?”

We earned every wrinkle
Worked every mile
To reach our golden years
The right to slow down
Deserved the privilege
To rest on our laurels
The time to look back
The right to step back
To pass the buck
Let others carry on
Making the most
Of our last lapse
Get more mileage
From whatever energy
We can scrounge

So here i am
Im going to retire from my throne as god
and here is the answer to your riddle
of your religions
why are you teaching each other to hate
instead of getting along?
why can't 2+2=4 and everybody agree
its silly if you ask me
One day when you realize
we're really not at war
but its all propaganda to keep us blind
and make everybody money
I'll lead my saints from mansion to safe place
to solve riddle and sing songs
and lift the veil
that the armies have been playing paint ball the whole time
and that was their reward for being brave
the sucker patrol saw you coming
and now its your turn to play
So here i step down
and leave my scepter behind
throw the dollar i have left into the wishing well
you've all poisoned
and now ill tell you something about the blind leading the blind
and how to write chapters of lies and liars and life lessons for history books
methods of madness and unjust systems and how to get hired
for a job where you cant apply with a resume or prayers
Here i am the metaphorical man
how do you raise me?
How do you love me?
how do you protect me?
teach me learn from me?
what are my rewards and where is the line?
Anyway now that i'm retired
and you know how i want things to be done
have fun throwing away my dreams
and living life the same nightmare
having nothing change
and then wonder absent mindedly how I'm doing
and if i lost my keys

Life invites deeply sacred purpose
when Love widely integrates
enlightened meaning
within co-invested minds,
passion,
from balanced bodies,
co-operating integrity
of healthy wealth's
most resilient potential
Life engaging
deeply felt sacred mess
co-operatively owned and managed
EarthTribe clarifying purpose.

Reflections On The Year Soon To Pass.
.
Mirrored reflections
Upon introspection
Spring to mind
Within the wake
A passing retiring year
And the scourge upon mankind
That leaves a bitter taste in ones mouth
And the trauma of loved ones passed
Now left behind
.
Goodbye and good riddance
You were the thorn stuck in our side
Su reality became reality
Many tears shed and cried
.
With a new year about to be born
We must lick our wounds
That left us wounded and torn
And look through the murky depths
Of trails of apathy
And release our bated breath
And make the most
And be grateful for what we have
Both good and bad
.
Hope may seem a slippery slope
May faith in God
And his promise help us cope
Open your eyes to the simple beauty
That creation abounds
Open your heart to fellow man
Rejoice in the blackbirds
Melodic sounds
Embrace the life
Hold your head high
To heavens above
And whatever you do
Keep safe
And spread your love.

Respected mad
Title : Retiring officer
You are my principal
With principles
You are my teacher
Who never let me deter
You were my peer
Who wanted me to cheer.
I appreciate your honesty
Worthy is your amity.
The aura you carry
Made me very crazy
People like you are rare
As you retire i cannot bare.
Every begin has an end.
Handing over is the trend.
Let us part to meet
Memories will remain sweet.
With love

Did you ever think you could be so lucky,
A friend to bless the way each day,
Delicious foods from the gods,
Prepared in the friendly kitchens,
Days of visits with handsome and beautiful relatives,
Nature's benevolence, the tall trees and beautiful environment,
Music to the ears and many piano concerts,
Reunions with very special persons,
Church an everlasting memory of goodwill and companions,
The learning passage continues,
Christmases forever beautiful and respected..

Goosebumps rise along my legs.
The sun belies the chilly breeze.
The summer sun is slowly setting.
I hear the droning of the bees.
Peaceful and serene , this night.
Curled up to watch the setting sun.
Colours start to paint the sky.
No night more lovely than this one.
Leaves gently bouncing in playful sway.
A glorious evening is this.
I am so thankful for all I have.
For nature's beauty... and your kiss.
Nights like this are meant to be shared.
No words need to be said.
We watch the night sky darkening
before retiring to our bed.

lusty labium leering
tactic tiers tearing
rusty year retiring.
