Best Put In A Word Poems
death death and more death
will there ever be
better time to start and see
what went wrong with us
from first time we thought
would never happen to us
that is when it did
two people were dead
not doing anything wrong
on an interview
why oh why oh why
should such a thing have happened
young not in their prime
could never guess why
killer had done such a thing
to ever happen
bring them back to us
now but know it is too late
to see them again
death death and more death
hope one day it all did end
a problem no more
Don't know any better way that
I could ever say it better then this.
Them we will so sadly miss. Not
in haiku but meant what I said.
I did not capitalize God in order
to maintain haiku consistency.
Could never have put in a word
cameraman anywhere. Replaced
it with word person. I understand
that haiku is not supposed to have
punctuation or capitalism. Is this
correct? Not sure about verb tenses
in second to last stanza. Is this
correct? Smoothness doesn't
always seem to be an attribute
of haiku. Jim Horn
Off the case! Why am I off the Red Light case?
Not that Rodney, this Shadow killer case.
I am letting homicide head that one up, It's not Vice,
Captain, when a prostitute is attacked and her pimp gets
whacked, No pun intended, that makes id Vice doesn't it?
" Rodney, just what do you know about this case?
Captain, from the evidence I've seen, what we have here
is from all indications, a modern day Samuari Shogun
with a very sharp sword called a Katana. This person knows
how to use it, and so far only on bad guys who like hurtin
women. So far only at night, comes in quiet takes care of
business and goes out quiet very quiet and virtually unseen.
Anyway you slice it, their dead and bloody
" Just what in the name of Judas is a Samuari
Shogun person you are talking about Rodney"?
Well Cap'n a Samuari Shogun is from Japan, old Japan
Dresses all in black, with only the eyes visible and carries
a single edged sword. At night would appear to be a shadow
" How do you know all this Rodney"? Well I spoke to
the M.E. after he was done with the stiff and we looked
it up you know kinda like doin my job. Police work and all
Besides Cap'n, Homicide is short a couple of guys
and what they have left are well sort of green
they have only been here in homicide a couple years
Face it Cap'n they could use the help and we both know it,
I already got a leg or two up on this case anyway, ya know
" Rodney, I'll tell you what I'll do, I'll have a talk with
the Chief of Homicide and put in a word for you"
If he is ok with it, I'll let you go homicide on temporary
assignment, only temporary got it? we'll go from there"
Thanks Cap'n, can I go now I'm kinda bushed?
been up all night and all," Sure Rodney come in
in the morning and we'll see what homicide says
Brick went to his locker and put his things inside
everything but his weapon's and his shield.
Brick always carried a stow away on his right leg
After that Brick went to his desk to make sure
that his report was all in order so he could turn
it in, by this time it was one in the afternoon
Brick was ready to go home for some needed rest
as he walked out the front door he headed for the
subway, Brick didn't see the eyes watching him.
" Shogun"
My neighbourhood was shabby,
my home was just a slum.
My meals were few and far between,
But that's where I met Mom.
I met her when I was just a boy,
Seems a long, long time since then
How time has flown and I have grown,
from a boy into a man.
Time has changed a lot of things,
it has taken me from the slum,
but if I live to be a hundred,
I'll always remember Mom.
I could go to her when troubled
and always find her there,
With a smile as big as all outdoors,
That took away my care.
She told me about her Saviour,
who died to set sinners free,
And the joy she felt within her heart,
she passed on to me.
Her life it wasn't easy ,
and her problems greater than mine,
but no matter how hard the going,
she always found the time.
Time to laugh, and sing and pray,
time to lend a hand,
to me a lonely little boy,
to me a full grown man.
She wasn't really my Mother,
Mom Jefferies was her name,
but that won't change the way I feel,
for I loved her just the same.
And now Mom Jefferies has left us,
for that home she talked about.
To stand in front of Jesus,
to sing, and pray and shout.
Shout Hosanna dear Mom Jefferies,
for you deserve it so,
and when your speaking to Jesus,
tell him we all miss you so.
Put in a word for me Mom,
the way that I could never do,
so when I die I'll have a chance,
again to be with you.
