My neighbourhood was shabby, my home was just a slum. My meals were few and far between, But that's where I met Mom. I met her when I was just a boy, Seems a long, long time since then How time has flown and I have grown, from a boy into a man. Time has changed a lot of things, it has taken me from the slum, but if I live to be a hundred, I'll always remember Mom. I could go to her when troubled and always find her there, With a smile as big as all outdoors, That took away my care. She told me about her Saviour, who died to set sinners free, And the joy she felt within her heart, she passed on to me. Her life it wasn't easy , and her problems greater than mine, but no matter how hard the going, she always found the time. Time to laugh, and sing and pray, time to lend a hand, to me a lonely little boy, to me a full grown man. She wasn't really my Mother, Mom Jefferies was her name, but that won't change the way I feel, for I loved her just the same. And now Mom Jefferies has left us, for that home she talked about. To stand in front of Jesus, to sing, and pray and shout. Shout Hosanna dear Mom Jefferies, for you deserve it so, and when your speaking to Jesus, tell him we all miss you so. Put in a word for me Mom, the way that I could never do, so when I die I'll have a chance, again to be with you. <<< Cal Bambi "The word artist" ©riginal >>> I paint pictures with words.
