Best Petroleum Poems
L o v e ~ a crippled nightingale
b u r n i n g in bronze tears
of tornadoes,
limping and writhing,
screaming for release,
but
what if I am the mistress
of glass-cut dreams,
crowned with
razor-edged regrets,
and splintered serenity?
Would the raven breeze
then cocoon my soul
with delicate doom,
fueled by petroleum promises,
searing in deadly flares,
as if I were destined
to be a victim of
vindictive vengeance,
torn and tainted,
chained in poisoned
strings of pearls,
a reflection of resignation,
of how kismet calligraphies
draped me in haunting ivory,
as the devil’s widow,
of when I vowed to serve
chastised chamomile,
of the night my innocence
was baptized in infected rivers,
rippling and ricocheting~
bleeding black with thorns…
O deranged twilight,
my heart aches in angst,
singing scars beneath
starless spheres,
where the moon is silenced,
eclipsed by the sun,
and the earth sighs
an unheard requiem
for the fractured skies,
stirring nocturnal feathers
to flutter and soar
in sync with the
beautiful tragedy,
while I lie in a sealed casket,
adorned with russet trinkets,
shadowed in macabre musings,
breathless and bruised,
alive, yet void of purpose
awake but sleep-walking
like an insomniac corpse
lost in the lethal gaze of life,
tracing emblems of the Valkyries,
caged between
the rising of dawn
and frozen dusk,
pondering if this is the end
of the beginning~
a cursed reincarnation,
as I see no escape
from your ill-omened grip~
a casualty of your cruelty,
I remain,
caught in the desolate
haze of h a t e…

Striving for Political Correctness
By Elton Camp
It would just be the end
If by words we do offend.
There’s the devil to be paid
If we call a spade a spade.
“Vertically challenged” means short.
“Horizontally challenged,” a fat sort.
“Nondiscretionary fragrance” means we stink.
“Living impaired” means your’re dead I think.
“Cerebrally challenged” and you are plain dumb.
“Hispanic” and it is Mexico that you come from.
“Niceness deprived” tells that you are mean.
As “oppressor-to-be” a young boy can be seen.
“Follicularly challenged” guys really are bald.
“Gay” is what males who hump men are called.
The “residentially flexible” will live out on the street.
“Nontraditional success” and a poor man you meet.
“Economically maximized” describes one rich.
“Economically marginalized” do live in a ditch.
“Visually challenged” is the blind guy you see.
“Reality challenged” people are crazy as can be.
“Locationally challenged” folks are those lost.
“Unjust self-esteem reduction” criticism’s cost.
A “maintenance portal” is the name for a manhole.
While “sexually dysfunctional” is a perverted soul.
The garbage collector is a “sanitation engineer.”
“Petroleum transfer specialist” pumps gas I fear.
The “termination specialist” other people does kill.
“Body entrepreneur” describes a prostitute if you will.
“Factually unencumbered” are the ignorant folk.
“Alternative answer” means an error was spoke.
If lazy, then we aren’t “motivationally disposed.”
“Discretionary fragrance” and perfume is nosed.
The “chronologically gifted” are just old.
“Rustically inclined” is redneck I’m told.
“Vertically gifted” people describes those who are tall.
“Client of the correctional system” a prisoner we call.
“Cerebrally gifted” people are those who are smart.
Be “metabolically challenged,” and dead thou art.
“Nonwaged” and it is a job you do lack.
“Amorally gifted” and a crook you track.
“Knowledge conveyor” speaks of the teacher.
“Personality repressor” describes the preacher.
With a “conceptual conflict” you are not sure.
The “under-alert” just some sleep will cure.
Now we are expected to play the “correctness” game.
Which means we call almost nothing by its true name.
In keeping with that, you see,
This poem is correct as can be.

Whatever has passed me by, it's winged shadow
Cast a chill that lingers in my eyes
And strangely feels like losing, dying or missing
Something never chanced to materialise.
Gone in a blink and whirlwind embargo,
Candle extinguished at pinpoint of gutter;
Soft wax dripped petroleum blue at my feet,
Stuck to the floor with a cold tango stutter.
I placate my ruffled feathers with thoughts
And platitudes fired in a blind ricochet
That echoes a mockingly reasoned rebound:
"Ah, well, there will be another day."
Now I have a chasm to train and to feed,
My companion regret calls your faraway name;
And it sounds like a gunshot wrapped up in a wish
As I wish I had known you were feeling the same.

Verse
A seething summer morning in the oil boom trailer park
Oral Roberts on the radio with the gospel told by Mark
The reek of raw petroleum is everywhere around
We little oil trash urchins play marbles on the ground
He drives out here most every day around the hour of nine
Checking all the trailer windows for a little cardboard sign
He parks the canvas-covered truck and dons his leather vest
Throws a tow sack o'er his back and shows his Sunday best
Down the drive comes Danny, on his mighty motor bike
Hanging on the handlebars, his bigger brother Mike
The engine makes a ton of noise, a dandy double stroke
Two baseball cards and clothespins, hitting every spoke
Our ragamuffin gang was gathered, just waiting for the time
To contrive our evil strategy and carry out our crime
“The iceman, the iceman!”, I hear my sisters say
“Y'all be quiet!”, I hiss to them,” You'll give us all away!”
The iceman sidles round the truck and casts the canvas back
Scores a hundred-pounder block and cleaves it with a whack
Tongs the icy burden to his back and laughs at what is left
Chunks and chips of frozen jewels, the targets of our theft
We want so hard to play it cool and act like we don't care
All our mouths fill up with drool and it's tricky not to stare
The iceman winks his eye at me and hides a little grin
Then walks up to the trailer door where mother lets him in
The moment that the door slams shut, the bandits make their play
With eyes lit up, we whoop and shout like kids on holiday
We suck up all the chunks and chips and with our bellies iced
We swagger off to brag about our frosty jewelry heist
It's true we didn't have a lot, perhaps enough to just scrape by
But the visit from the iceman was like Christmas in July
And when I pass through oilfield country, it never ceases to amaze
How the scent of raw petroleum brings back those icebox days

LIFE
Life is a gift
But we have never cared
Destruction of the rain forest
And no animal is spared
Arise great Pro-man
Now raise up your sword
Do not let materialism deceive you
So stick to your word
The petroleum wells will dry up some day
And they will be no money for you to pay with in that way
The gold mines will diminish one day
And there will be no fields for our children to play
Arise Pro-human
Defend mother earth
Do not think of wealth
Or all that you can get
Life is beautiful
So let us be dutiful
As a Good Samaritan
And help your fellow African
Chinese or European
In need
To create a paradise devoid of greed
That is what I call Utopia
Not until we die
When it is all over
We can not let the children suffer
I have seen pain in my old days
The weak rise
And the mighty fall
Armies rise to fight at the clarion call
Only the truth remains
Like a tree that stands tall
In the next millennia where shall we be?
Vanity after vanity
The rest is history
Life is a gift
And love is a blessing
Let us unite this world
And teach a good lesson

ODE TO PETROLEUM
I
In the past coal reigns without any challenges,
But now,the modern glory is petroleum-a toothful fact,
Found juxtapose with natural gas
Formed from dead remains of marine plants and animals,
Thick and viscous, dark and real~the black Gold
To be refined and distillated to perform better,
No matter your class, you cannot ignore him,
A source of power, power to move and glow,
which makes the economy to flow.
II
You are so unique,Many countries struggle to possess,
For your energy supply is immense,
Your selling price controls the world`s economy,
A wonderful dream for the Persian gulf,
Fuel is needed by the mighty to foster his strength,
Lose control and become toothless,
Nations rising against Nations to have a taste,
You are sweeter than honey, better than milk,
Ye!,A great relieve to man.
III
You gave birth to plasticos..,
which is classic-whether thermoset or thermoplast,
packaging is better,finishing is splendid,
anti-bacteria,anti-corrosive and heat-resistant,
putting smiles on the faces of many actors,
Engineers are elated and their skills showcased,
Imagine a universe without automobiles and plastics,I mean YOU!
...Alternatives are being sought but yet,None.
Petroleum the energy savior;Kudos to you.

The US must generate jobs
And Petroleum Inc. wants mobs
Of workers to toil
Mining more gas and oil
But from the green future this robs
Is drilling the place to invest?
Can fossil fuel use still attest
To progress desired?
The car culture it sired
Drives Earth to a state sorely stressed

Y - Yet to be seen, will this gathering and a Citizen Declaration be just the spark to
save Malaysia?

Coral and lime stones
You can take the country out of me
However, not the trace of acid lime out of my blood
Growing up on the island has its advantages
Everybody was related to each other: and everyone knew
each other real names.
My grandmother was known as Nana to every little boy or girl
We all were well mannered bare feet rug rats
It was never about sparing the rod, and spoiling the brats
It was slap and several back slaps
No bad behave child were never reward back in those days
What I cherish most was the sense of freedom
playing in the open fields; running wild in the prickly grass
and chasing rainbow butterflies in the hot sun until dinner time
I remember lot of sunshine and weeks of rain
Plenty of fresh air, and poor folks who always care
about the welfare of each other
Somehow, the earth tasted like lime,
My cousin would take chunks of square dirt
And chew on it: Nana scolds her each time
However, every other weekend
It was a dose of castor oil or cod-liver oil
This made our little bodies tremble
She called it cleansing your little souls
And building strong bone and teeth
My little Island was all coral and lime stones
acres and acreage of sugarcane fields to roam
With made the earth more sweet and rich
Tropical; rainy season
Petroleum, fish, natural gas
on the tropical island of Barbados
what more could any child asked for?
besides being happy and safe
Looking back with a warm feeling
for the love of the island winds that blew
Over the hills on windy days
How can I not give back to the Island?
My heart would always remains
On the coral and lime stones earth.
Where Pride and Industry of the little Island is our motto

DO NOT ABUSE ME
I am a petroleum pipeline
Do not abuse me
If I burst, fire may burn you
I am a drug
Do not abuse me
If you take me wrongly
You may develop health problem
I am a motor car
Do not abuse Me
If ther is an accident
You may die
I am a gun
Do not abuse me
If you pull my trigger
You may kill someone
I am a woman
Do not abuse me
If you rape me
There maybe no children for you.

Ignorance Is Bliss
Here in Malaysia things are happening and citizens are rather concerned..
Besides the regular petty crimes and stories of the juicy kind ...
For the past year or so, this country has been embroiled in the 1MDB story.....
Then there is the matter of Goods Service Tax applied across the country...
Some folks are relatively unconcerned despite paying their income tax..
Hey, people! With the snowballing effects from Goods Service Tax....
Plus scandals galore involving the country and her deminishing wealth....
Everybody suffers, not just you and me, everyone you meet...
Of course some smarter one are even making more money...
Going by the government, it is just too bad it is not you or me....
And our ex PM is trying to do good despite his advanced years....
Not doing anything while he was PM and Najib was merely up and coming...
A case of trying to close the barn doors after the horses have bolted...
Crying bloody murder only when he found that the PM has a mind of his own...
Now that he is a PM, Najib is in power and looks to be in control...
Despite the many swirling accusations chipping away his reputation...
The PM is firmly in control and cries out it is all political prosecution...
On the ground, no wonder things are getting worse for the people..
The escalated cost of living with GST and large scale profiteering..
Depressed petroleum and rubber prices, we Malaysians are in trouble....
With accusing fingers being pointed at the PM from ruling government ...
And so much vitriol and regular negative news about this goverment....
Local news today are not worth reading for being so depressing...
And with the current political cat fighting, each political news is sickening...
Maybe one can play ignorant and be unconcerned for Ignorance is Bliss...
Malaysia Boleh.....
