Embrace the oxymoron, if you will.
Shall I fool you with monsoon wrath?
Despite tears of rain, life will prevail.
via shattered aspirations.
clouds flirt with slate-azure moon
sunlight kisses the sea at dawn.
wind sighs to trees in plains of lustrous dew.
and scoff at me and you.
as trilling robins show up.

A radiant core of nature's elixir
yet, sunlight will flicker.
cloudless white will appear.
as gold, zenith, and amethyst adorn the sky.
Flaming saffron is poised to streak.

Cureless by modern science.
bare ribs, limbs, and joints fried.
Whispering winds hindered dexterity.
My vertebrae melted, were bare, and broke.
senseless failure to stand or fully expel.
weakened and can't sleep or thrive.
Wairua Worth dark wrath wrecked while
tethered as terms tumble to thrill.

Quill Genesis grows with glorious grace.
while the vile sword is versatile.
Cast aside vanity; dangling merely fits.
Rhapsody hopes to work; ponder if sick.
in shape, rekindled with sunshine
Life waltz beyond light, its nodes drew.

Slightly erratic amid a black haze.
feeling weak, leaving me bewildered.
My soul is cunning and cynical.
earned seclusion as slight streams.
Only gloomy storms entice me.
I hope for sunshine and a light breeze.

Shimmer! Sheer light!
dimming shadows ensue.
My life is on a slippery slide.
spaciously clear passageways.
shimmer! shimmer! before I leave.
subtly allow the warm rays in.
dance around my fading bed.
across the faintly lit abyss.
I should set upward...

Premium Member Italian Road Trip

My wife and I share a passion for travelling, the world we love to see
We travelled through France and Switzerland and we're now in Italy
Day one was a trip in a cable car to the summit of Mount Baldo
The views from the top were amazing of Lake Garda down below.

Day two we visited Verona, a city of great architectural beauty
And it's where Shakespeare was inspired by Juliets famous balcony
We saw great works of art showing statues, of Roman mythology
Churches now outnumber them after their conversion to Christianity.

Day three we went on a speed boat trip on the beautiful Lake Garda
Then had a walk around the town of Sirmoine, and ate some tasty pizza
Of course the day would not be complete without tasting some gelato
Every flavour you can think of, it's ice cream in case you didn't know.

On the fourth day we went to Venice and we were pleasantly surprised
St Marks Square, Rialto Bridge, Doges Palace and The Bridge of Sighs
Lots of narrow passageways that leads to many a little square
Words alone can't convey its appeal you really have to be there.

On the fifth and last day a scenic trip up the Dolomite mountains
We saw scenic alpine images and drove through villages with fountains
Swiss style chalets dotted the hillsides that added to its great charm
Scenes of utmost tranquillity that gives you a feeling of inner calm.

Day six and its time to head back home, and we travelled through the night
Through Switzerland then Calais in France, to catch the ferry at first light
Then just two more coaches that will take us nearer to our home
My wife is looking at brochures for next year, to see where else we can roam.

The Devil's Dance

It's the devil's dance, he is a chancer,
As he tries to take this life to cancer.
The news to fill your heart with dread,
As you, process words inside your head.

This news it brings a bitter sting,
The devil's joy that fate can bring.
He's a chancer bold in every way,
In truth, your thoughts, filled with dismay.

We face this news as laughter dies,
With a heavy heart and teary eyes.
The tears that run they stain our cheeks.
His vice like grip, the devil, speaks.

Your thoughts they turn to hope and fear,
This devil's waltz, so insincere.
As he leads and takes you by the hand,
Our teardrops fall in no-man's-land.

For though he leads you in a trance,
Transfixed within, this devils dance.
It's the fear of knowing the unknown,
A life once had is overthrown.

Leads up a path where no one plays,
It's dark and lonely passageways.
"Your life," he taunts a mocking cheer,
"Is but a game." to draw you near!

I let him waltz and play his hand,
I'll find the strength to make a stand.
My life is worth more than his game.
Where angels fly I'll stake my claim.

Memory Heart of the Vision

Different corridors different thoughts,
Passageways of the mind,
Journeys into the unknown,
Step inside what surreal bizarre,
Captivating stories it tells,
A lifetime of arcane mysterious secrets,
Concealed forever within the heart and thoughts
Some enchanting beauty, some to wonder,
Some so obscure best not to number,
Deeper inside into the murmurous chamber,
With its quietness of sound,
Peace like the gentleness of running water,
That gently whisper sonorous,
Resounding into a vibrating pulsating love,
Shines to light up and dazzle the soul of man,
Gorgeous attractive chambers,
That are delightfully enchanting,
How miraculously within the memory
Which remains forever,
More than the eyes can see.

Acrid smoke in the scientist’s bell jar
Blankets of chenille-covered snow
Crystalline carbon diamond star
Drips forming stalactites grow
Effervescent waterfalls’ dreams
Frothy-topped cappuccinos
Gelid surfaces of lakes and streams
Halos of angels in holy repose
Icebergs splitting from their source
Jasmine-covered pergolas in Spring
Knuckles clenched in fear or remorse
Love’s purest form sobering
Mandala patterns on frosted window
Newly-born flamboyant flamingos
Opalescent lustre of pearls on show
Pineapple-licious snow cones
Quills of the porcupines’ defense
Ringlets of great-grandparents’ hair
Steamy hot springs vapor intense
Trailing wisps of London fog air
Undulating winter foothill maze
Veils of fine tatted lace purity
Wieliczka Salt Mine passageways
Xilinous spider webs artistry
Yahrzeit candle flame in memoriam
Zephyrus ballooning sails on a whim

Midnight Hour

midnight hour...
this sky is as full
as my mind
as i sit here
trying to connect stars
like thoughts

i can almost hear you
in the whisper of winds
filling the voids of loneliness
in temporary stifled breaths
as they rise and fall
around me

i can almost see you
breaking through shadows
as they dance
on walls
beneath the iridescence
of this moon
peering in at me
through this window
as if staring into my soul
through passageways of time

to close my eyes
would make you mine
even if only
momentarily

i long to feel your lips
brush against mine
in a blush of passion
feel your hands
caress the edges
of my existence
draw your scent
into my final breaths
before drifting to sleep
yet i sit here
watching time
beat faster
than my own heart
as the midnight hour
slowly wanes
with loneliness
knowing either way

Passageways

My eyes fell closed and lashes fluttered
Over creaseless cheeks and smiling lips
And then Time’s carousel had stuttered
And anxiousness had tightened its firm grip
As what once was became all new
The rules of youth so sudden turned
The pleasant, carelessness I knew
Became a muddled pile of lessons learned

And everything bore consequence
And my mistakes became my errs
And choices led to long suspense
While aged societies conferred
And weighed my words my worth by faults
Deciding if I might deserve a place
To be accepted, or to be locked in vaults
Of loneliness, shame and disgrace…

And though I merely blinked I know
That I cannot go back through passageways
Although I will not dream of letting go
of innocence and childhood days.

A Sequel To 9-11
Written: by Tom Wright

During trying times,
We often search our dark lonely passageways.
Finding scant light
To help us through our days;
As faith's novices,
We often consider that sight
With anguish, fear, and utter disdain;
Faith, prompts us to believe the glow at tunnel's end,
Is our ray of hope, not the last train?

The Grave

Sorrow does the grave not know
nor bitterness or greed
In the darkness of the grave
lies no fear or inequality

The grave knows not of cloudy days
nor humid moonlit
summer nights
or the way the bluejays sang to me
nor the way my child gazed at me
And little does it know at all
of passageways through heavens door

The grave is but a benefactor
offering sweet clemency
Restoring my soul from transgressions
of the world above
Easing the encumbrance
of my mind

The grave surely is a friend to me
Craddeling me far below
the springtime daffodils
never disappointing me
nor leaving me behind

Secrets

In the forest
Grows a tree
And underneath
Their secrets be
Deep below its
Roots extend
Down passageways
That curl and bend
Secrets told to
Branch above
Nestle down there
Like a glove
They wait there
Patient for the
Day they can
Emerge and
Have their say
Tell your troubles
To that tree
So you can set
Your warm heart
Free.

I've lived in it all my life -
the self's grand fiction -
refuge for the child, youths
rebel fortress and a walled
cloister to house
the holy relics gathered
on the pilgrimages
of my mind. I have built it
line by line with words
baked into bricks.

Rooms follow years
down passageways of books,
dusty manuscripts and dreams
hung in stations along
age blackened walls.
In high towers, windows
open to a universe
with a terrifying silence
at its core.

I hear reality's hard fist
knocking at the door,
a presence breathing
its corrosive damp into mortar,
unpicking me
brick by brick. And yet,
a sense of peace in surrendering
what was never really there,
dissolving into what is

If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time

IF I COULD TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME....

If I could turn back the hands of time,
To sight of green grass and colourful flowers nod together,
In warm, quiet and friendly whisper in the midday breeze,
The language I could clearly treasure and understand,
Under the verdant branches in the veldt where I used to play.

If I could turn back the hands of time,
To melancholy songs of the cuckoo birds,
To the bees murmuring, small birds chanting merrily,
To the sounds of water in raging rivers and streams,
And the heavy pattering rain on the zinc roof.

If I could turn back the hands of time,
To smells of steaks and chips in the passageways,
Delightful odours of plants so sweet and strong,
To home brewed beers in the over-brimming glasses,
And the golden apple green as the fridge swings open.

If I could turn back the hands of time,
And feel warm heater air caressing me in winter,
The soft touch of aircon in the sweltering atmosphere,
Sweet taste of coffee and cold drinks to relieve fatigue as the sun breaks,
That made me dream of the events before tomorrow!

I used to stretch my hands, dressed myself and went where I wanted,
But now , with my joints all aching, senses fading and eyes gradually growing dim,
I stretch out my hands and somebody dresses me up,
And leads me to where I do not want to go,
Yes, I cannot turn back the hands of time now!

Hyperbolic Mind

Labyrinth of headache and heartache
Cold steel walls
Surrounding and compounding
Trapped passageways
Constrict and conflict

Navigating carefully
To avoid the hellish realms
Checking my three and my six
But still exist my qualms

The lava burns as my stomach churns
The firey glow awaits regardless of my turn
Finally i've been ensnared
And so I sigh and despair
I was expecting the curse
And so I bid thee
Do thy worst

How naive
How comically foolish!

The embers surge into my eyes
Siring, stinging, burning
Whites falling to red dyes
Pain, needles, drying
I seal it tight and my muscles fight
Tears seep out through impenetrable defences
And again, the blinding light
Locked up lids
But of the needles I cannot rid
Fire, fire, massive torrents of pain
World blurs as fists swing into tiles
Anger, consuming!
Must withhold for a while...

Blinded like a bat
My eyes scream and complain
WHAT IS VISION?!
For all I know is pain
To forgo the hurt and the heck
Please
Tell me i'm near death

The tissue is clutched
Forced into my face
Ahhh, cleansing serenity
The needles, done away

Then I got out of the shower

Premium Member Dreamtime: the Old Alley Way

A slow funeral dirge loops through my head as I bend the reeds
of wild alley weeds in my old neighborhood, pausing to listen
to the drunken diatribes hurled by the shell of a man, 3-houses
down…praying I won’t be seen.

Newcomers don’t often visit, the same faces cringe in surprise at
the sudden change in tempo or tone, afraid a new direction may
result….sounds never heard before….questions never asked before.

Finally, I find the familiar crevices and secret passageways, proven
over time…..balms and knowing glances, to a place I know,

                                                                                        ……a place

                                                                                                      I know
