Premium Member I Can'T Breathe

In memory of----

Solely in my room, I can't stomach the sound of my pulse
I sit here alone to forget the taste of air.
Overwhelm by the scene -unbelievable footage
18 seconds long, "I can't breathe."
My judgment "GONE" stressing all night long
I use to fear dark colors, now I fear spinning bright lights
Red, White, and Blue, I spew the NY crew
What's wrong with your blue eyes?
You see him, you want him to die
What a day to trade -- a life for illegal cigarettes
Persecution and judgment day, sweet life - taken away
"I can't breathe", executed in broad daylight!

Bullets left and right
Who's policing the police
What happened to mind our business?
Moneymaker refused to be singled out
A hurting voice tackled by racism
Free to see, pouring his heavy heart,
Oinkers demand the ground, shutting down his testament
8 times too many, "I can't breathe!"
Where did his vitals go?
No one to tap him out, pound the pavement!
What the hell, why are you just standing there???

Stress, anger, madness, the voice of innocence
"I can't breathe." the volume to valium
"Officer, did you not hear the man?"
Are you deaf, have you forgotten how to save a life?
Is it just the NYPD or is it every other badge,
Insinuating crime's a one-color show.
We are all criminals, why the excessive heat?
Shot, tasered, beat down, pepper-sprayed, now on the ground
The mother of all chokeholds, murdered, outnumbered
The echoes remain "I can't breathe!"

- The truth!
Eric Garner robbed of his own natural path and youth
One man down eyed suspiciously
Perplexed minds suffocating him instantly
The mistrusted, the awe, the hate,
So tangible, uniforms using deadly force
One asthmatic in a chokehold
Slamming his head on the floor
Open wounds, worldwide tears

My heart goes to the family and friends left behind
A courageous last breath, for the first and last time
"I can't breathe," now deceased.
You left this world unwilling, waking up a strong community
Strolling in a safer world, where racial discrimination doesn't exist
"I can't breathe," Eric Garner Rest in peace!

ECHOES IN THE STONE

No one can turn back the hands of time
Reliving the war, TEXAS her independence
The tombs so deep, where real hero's fought and fell
A place so precious, sacred in every hold
A timeless journey, with no stop to heal
To find your eyes upon this treasure's glaze
Hearing stories not found in fairy-tale books
Finding GRACE in this AMAZING place
The legendary ALAMO, over freedom, a ghost town
Walking by the thousands, beyond this land
Outnumbered
Echoes in the stones
A painful event, UN erased

Defenders of the ALAMO gathered to unite
With their life's they put up an honorable fight
Heroes who embraced a defeat in March 1836
A battle deeply wounded overnight
Bravery in their hearts
No time to be scared.
Where the wind now blows,
Echoes in our souls.

With one touch, embrace the south wall
Hearing whispers, sad echoes-I call
Chills traveled down my spine
Standing among all heroes who are still buried,
In their home at the ALAMO
Echo's in the stone
Proud of the ALAMO.

Echoes in the stone
Where a hero still stands tall
Heroes even beyond their last breath,
Death being their only bail
Heroically fighting with their own will and liberty
In hopes, that justice would prevail
The ALAMO rebuilt, standing strong
Full of life, in the center of San Antone'

The voices, the scream,
Piercing the stone
Fighting till their death
"Remember the Alamo!"
The echoes in the stone, a hero's home
Locked inside each stone of eyes
Heroes who died,
Cried their last words
"VIVA THE ALAMO!"

Premium Member Incident At Soup Creek

In the saloon gambler Milton, rose from his leather chair to speak
And said we need to make changes for the good of Soup Creek
He read all the meaningful proposals to the townsfolk out loud
And those meaningful proposals were well received by the crowd.

A stranger sat in the corner looked like he'd just got outta bed
Stood up and disagreed with everything Milton had said
He'd totally misunderstood Milton's honourable intention
The situation became tense and you could feel the tension.

There was an icy deadly silence then over by the far corner
Stood saloon girl Jenna looking mean, and cradling a Winchester
There was a mad stampede, as folks tried to get out the door
The stranger carried on ranting and at gambler Milton he swore.

Someone had alerted Sheriff Koplin and he was soon on his way
Then entered the saloon approaching the stranger, and had this to say
"Soup Creek is a very peaceful town and we aim to keep it that way
And if you don't like how we run things then you'd best be on your way"

Then from the back door of the saloon, entered four other deputies
Dave the Texas ranger, saloon girl Tania and the blacksmith called Rees
Undertaker Tom needed business, he was hoping the stranger they'd kill
And then headed off with a pick and shovel, to his office at Boot Hill.

The stranger was outnumbered and knew he wouldn't win
And handed the Sheriff his gun who said "I'm taking you in"
The Sheriff at gunpoint walked the stranger over to the jail
And told him" I'm locking you up and don't think about bail"

Meanwhile Tom up at Boot Hill was sweating digging a grave
Then heard someone hollering it was the Texas ranger Dave
Tom looked up and Dave told him "you won't be needed today
But Sheriff Koplin is generous and you'll still get your days pay"

"Gambler Milton is in the saloon later and he's holding a big party"
Tom threw his shovel in the grave and said "sounds good to me "
They both mounted their horses and then headed back to town
And they arrived back in Soup Creek as the sun was going down.

Days

Days sneak up on the sleeper,
Either anticipated, or scorned
To the pessimist, they are dwindling,
And to the bright eye—they carry on beyond our selfish minds

Upon the wakened dreamer,
Days draw on in a smiley haze,
Keeping one buoyantly bouncing inward
Outnumbered and overlooked—he is opulently occupied elsewhere

To the seeker of truth,
Ancient, though ageless are the days before him
Crouching along the edge of tomorrow—seeking always more…
As days billow like robes cooling long-trod legs gainst the Eastern sun

And to the beasts and birds,
Feathers, claws, snout, muscle and bone— all harmonize
Instinct and passionate drive hurling precious life onward,
Their days meander freely, like knowing feet on familiar ground

Revere the Founding Fathers, Part Ii

...And Alexander Hamilton,
though know for controversy,
served alongside Washington
in the war to make us free.
Helped build up our new armed forces,
set the stage for our economics,
the prosperity we still enjoy,
he had a lot to do with it.
The man stood against slavery
when many just chose to ignore
the problem as unsolvable,
unwilling to seize something more.
He rose up from bastardry
to shape a nation not formed yet,
I think we should remember more
then the sad method of his death.

Then there is His Excellency,
George Washington earned that in full,
the only American soul
who any dare call by that title.
Stuck with an untrained army,
often outnumbered and outclassed,
he wouldn’t fight by Europe’s rules,
and the British he would outlast.
Ill-supplied and often hungry,
he kept the militas going,
and though they would have made him King
he gave it up voluntarily!
Taught us how to be a president,
was not a known thing in those days,
then even left that so he could farm,
the depths of his honor amaze…

Last is the one who didn’t arrive
until three generations later,
Lincoln, the man who finished the job,
that Great Emancipator.
Some would say he wasn’t a founder,
but I must include him within,
the nation we know traces right back
to the great deed done by him.
An ordinary politician
in a nation torn all apart,
forced to grow into a hero,
enough to test any man’s heart.
Forced to fight a murderous war
admist voices calling out for peace,
knowing defeat meant more chaos,
and millions left in slavery…

Nowadays voices spurn these men,
choosing to recall only mistakes,
forgetting that their bold ideas
are what have made this country great.
Teachers prattle on like socialists,
killers of one hundred million souls,
all of our mistakes pale next to that,
it’s a direction none should go.
But the wisdom of the founders
transcends the confines of their day,
they took on the challenge of freedom,
that’s a challenge that don’t go away.
If we take the time to heed them
then we can continue on thriving,
we should revere the founding fathers,
in truth we owe them everything.

Tin Can Sailors

The mighty 3rd to the north did steam,
Chasing a ghost not to be seen

Guard the landing your task assigned,
Quiet the day is to be benign

At dawn the Imperial fleet does appear,
Surprise complete, ranging fire splashes near

Outnumbered and out gunned, duty is clear,
Close the range you must in spite of your fear

Laying smoke, a jagged course you take,
An account of yourselves you will make

Steel your heart and make sure your eye,
For each salvo keeps you alive

Toe-to-toe the battle, you exchange mighty blows,
Triumph impossible, yet into the fray you all go

In perfect rhythm, the mad dance goes on,
As smoke filled gunhouse loads powder and shot

Decks strewn with the dead and dying,
Teams repair to keep the ensign flying

Struck and struck again, yet to point blank you steam,
Hard to port, you cross the “T”

“All guns to fire at the turn, torpedoes away!”
The enemy scatters in disarray

Too late, mortal blows you take
To the deep, no more your enemy to rake

One final salute their captain does render,
For you fought to the death and did not surrender

On this all men do still agree,
These were the finest two hours of Taffy 3

*****************************************
On October 25th, 1944, 3 destroyers and 4 destroyer escorts of Task Force
Taffy 3 engaged a combined force of Imperial Japanese Navy battleships and
cruisers in a 2 hour running gun battle to protect the escort carriers and troop
transports taking part in the Leyte Gulf landings in the Philippines. Two of the
three destroyers and one of the escorts were sunk while sinking three
Japanese heavy cruisers and damaged three more. Due to the fierceness of
the attack, the Japanese fleet retired from the area thinking they had been
attacked by a much larger force. At the outset of the battle, the commanding
officers of these 7 ships, without orders, individually decided to attack and
headed at flank speed to the fight all knowing they would most likely not
survive the day. Almost 1600 did not. In a final act of respect, the commander
of one Japanese cruiser saluted the crew of an American ship that had just
sunk as his ship passed them floating in the water.

Come sit by the fire... let's reminisce

About this and that, about life and love

Watching a robin take its first flight

Or a squirrel scurrying up a tree

The sun coming out from behind the clouds

The gentle breeze blowing the leaves in fall

The gentle snow flakes softly falling in winter

Covering the ground like a warm blanket

Or is it the laughter of a baby

The purring of a kitten

The sound of cows mooing in the field

The twinkling stars on a warm summer's eve

A shooting star

The hum of the city

Which tells us we're one of many

Enjoying life on this amazing planet of ours

The roar of a jet engine

Taking people away on a happy vacation

The sound of a marching band

The smile on the cashiers face

As she wishes you a great day

So many images throughout life

Remind us how amazing it is to be alive

To experience these simple pleasures

To conjure up these amazing vignettes

Of the wonders we see and feel every day

I still remember my very first day at school

That was seventy-three years ago

But it's just like it was yesterday

Attending my very first baseball game

And none other than Jackie Robinson

Playing second base for the Montreal Royals

In his very first professional game

I could go on and on but as I age

My memory is not as reliable as it once was

Memories are wonderful to try to hold on to

To look back on a life filled with happiness and joy

Of course, there were some sad times

But they were far outnumbered

By just the simple pleasures we all experience

My life was amazing!

West Gorton
by Robert (Bob) Moore © 2015

Billy Briggs, he lived in Gorton, West Gorton to be precise
now the kids from West Gorton, were not very nice
they had the toughest gangs down there, so you had to know
if you were going to West Gorton, have your own gang in tow

Be careful just which street you walk, some you would not tread
you’re walking someone else’s ground, don’t look up just hang your head
you’re not here for trouble, there’s an errand to be done
so fix it, and then head home, your outnumbered here my son.

Then you hear the Robert Street Gang, know that your around
would like to know what you are doing, walking round their town
then there they are in front of you, young Billy and his crew
You can stare them down or fight them, run’s the other thing to do

Wat’cha doing here said Billy, a sneer upon his face
my granny’s sick we want to help, so we’re going to her place
Ok said Bill, we’ll help you through, just this once though mind
we’ll make sure you get there safe, you lads fall in behind

We fixed our Gran the best we could, and then, was time to go
we’ll keep an eye on her, said Billy, if she needs ya, we’ll let you know
they walked us back to the border line, Billy shook my hand and then
“ you Gorton lads are nancy boys, so don’t come back ag’en”
The pride came back, and then as one, we stepped back across the line

SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT THEN

Wet Paint

I was just like you and many others,
when the world rotated the other
way round. We only knew each other
by voices and energy. We fed on the
grid of the sun.
One day, a library appeared with the morning mist,
carrying all the knowledge I ever wanted to know.
Without hesitation, I raced into the library;
I hadn't read "WET PAINT" behind the
entry door.....
I indulged in a quiet literary moment,
as I read how the world came to be,
a rogue cosmic stone that re-winded
the evolutionary clock, and many more
knowledge I was forbidden to know
by my invisible guardians and ancestors.
Regrets sank in when a voice told me
it could see my body! It could see the prison
of my soul!
I wasn't the only one;
many other souls had entered the library,
getting painted by the wet brush of tabooed
knowledge.
As time elapsed, the invisible ones were outnumbered
by painted souls, turning to ghosts and genies in the
new era.
Still, the library is there. Some invisible souls are wary,
gazing at the library's entry door from a distant corner......

The universe
In my navel
Where it all began
From the mother of all mothers
tongue tied
to a tree
naked
No wool to pull over these eyes

They're up here by the way

Pondering the microcosm of a belly button
The flora and the fauna

Crazy when you think that
By the sum of our parts
We are outnumbered ten to one and

Eve didn't even have a belly button

How do ya' like them apples?

Premium Member The Secret

There is an enemy, who keeps herself hidden to some.
There is an enemy, who with his mighty lies torments others.
But it is only one enemy.
And this enemy destroys the blood of brotherhood by convincing all that God is
one.
By convincing all that God is one and that she is many, this enemy convinces all
that we are outnumbered.
But God was many from the very beginning.
And so we are many, the forces of light.
It is the enemy who is outnumbered.
For we are a kingdom which cannot be divided for we are of the same substance.
For in the beginning was the Word, and the word was the light of humanity.
The Word is the light of humanity.
And the Word is many.
Amen.

Washington's Miracle, Part Iii

But patriot fire answered back tenfold,
blasting those two guns until they were down.
Rall knew things were dire, then decided to
attempt a break-out to the north of town.

Though Washington still held the high ground there,
and the patriots had taken the ville,
a horrific fire hit the Hessians,
a slew of soldiers were rapidly killed.

Those that tried to fight back found their weapons
didn't work that well, it was much too wet,
and even if they did, they were outnumbered,
so escaping would be a longshot bet.

Then Colonel Rall took two shots to his side,
wounds that would eventually prove to be mortal.
The Hessians, surrounded, threw down their arms
and surrendered, their defeat was now full.

Nine hundred Hessians, killed, wounded, or captured,
a lopsided route no one had expected,
on the American side only two fell,
and it was frost-bite that had left them dead!

They'd captured supplies, much needed just then,
and sent a message to all wavering,
the fight was not over, the army alive,
they could take on whatever Britain could bring.

Though Washington knew this wasn’t the end,
and just a prelude for what was to come,
quickly he moved, back over the river,
to prepare for his next move, on Princeton…

Cinco De Mayo and the Conquest of Puebla

Cinco De Mayo, the fifth day of May, to all Mexican and Mexican-Americans, is a very special day,

It celebrates the Mexican's Armies, unlikely victory over France, The Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, was Napoleon's grab for Mexican lands,

At the time of this battle, France's Army was considered the World's best, led by Napoleon, it was hell-bent, on achieving World conquest,

An 8,000 strong French Army, marched to Puebla to cause misery, but it was the 4,000 Pueblans, who came out with the victory,

Mexican's celebrate this great triumph, with fiesta and cheers, the French Army had not been defeated, previously, for at least 50 years,

By defeating a much better equipped Army, they were outnumbered by man, steel and horse, They ensured there would never be an attack on a country of the Americas, by any other European military force.

Although there comrades had died, they were hungry and their lips muy seco,
The soldiers cried " Ole! ", as the mariachi sang " Viva Mexico!"

My First Day At the Mental Hospital

On a cold, dark, winter day at the end of November
I checked into a mental hospital, for what? I can't remember.

I must mention that the people there were crazier than I
So, at first, I could not help but be a little bit shy.

First, I met a depressed woman who was receiving ECT
I shouldn't have been surprised the next day when she couldn't remember me.

Then, I met a girl who claimed she heard the voice of God
The fact that she was deaf made this claim somewhat odd.

Nurses said a woman was doing the “Haldol Shuffle*” because of her meds
Meds can make you dance? I wondered, that’s not what those ads said.

I met a lady who I heard others saying was a bit impulsive
When she introduced himself eight times I saw she was really obsessive-compulsive,

There was a woman being rude with multiple personalities present
She obviously outnumbered me so off to my room I went.

There I met my neighbour who spoke to a person of her creation
I would've said hi, but thought it rude to interrupt their conversation.

Another girl came into the hospital shortly after I arrived
She was a attacked by a wild animal she thought she saw, but thankfully revived.

After awhile of this I began to wonder why am I even here?
I think I'll leave. I’m not near as crazy, that much is clear.

I spoke with the doctor and he agreed that I was perfectly sane
I didn’t need to be there at all, nothing was wrong with my brain.

Yes, these things might seem strange, but they are definitely true
You can even ask the unicorn next to me who was there too!! (NOT)
