Premium Member Squirrels

Superbly agile and acrobatic creatures.
Quirky zigzag moves and mannerisms.
Unique techniques for stealing seeds and nuts.
Incredibly strong front incisors that keep growing.
Really smart, mischievous and very entertaining.
Ready to rob and tackle any bird feeder, even squirrel proof.
Extremely resilient during harsh winters.
Loud chirping and chattering when near by.
Sometimes they are white, but mostly grey, red or brown.

THE AL-ANDALUS QUARTET: PART ONE
GIBRALTAR / DJEBEL-TARIQ 711 AD / 92 AH

In the eyes of the hawk
Djebel Musa to Djebel Tariq
is the tactical distance across the
turbulent waters where the blue
Mediterranean meets the
endless blue sea
The dark swirling currents and
the threatening waves, mediate
traffic between the east and the west
like a vigilant father in a Numidian tribe,
and like a doting negassa, chaperone
a wedding at the Rock of Gibraltar to
marry the landscapes of Africa and
Europe, stir the chaotic brooding of
Christianity’s north with the volatile
moods and enraptured exuberance of Arab
and Berber, soon Tuareg and Black, the
stormier winds of Maghreb and mission
from the Islamic south,
and on this new day as a military favor
to the warrior Tariq, mask the
gathering sounds of derbouka, sagat,
war-horse and armor, zurna, al-oud,
turban, tunic and the long curved sword
at the sharp leading edge of a shining
idea which, like a flaming sharuq of
faith and surrender from Djebel-Tariq
to the Guadalquivir, from the Guadiana
north to the Tagos and Duero, to the
Ebro and the Pyrenees, the territory
beyond, through the chasms and
gorges of the disintegrating map of
the Hispano-Romano, Visigoth and
Vandal, will conceal Ano Domini
beneath Hijriyyah in a new land
of Allah called Al-Andalus

Sharuq (Arabic): A hot dusty humid southeast wind in southern Europe that begins in the Sahara and picks up moisture as it crosses the Mediterranean. Spanish: Sirocco. Italian: Scirocco

Lonely Music

L aying down on a porch full of dreams,
O n a land full of hope,
N eed to get on my grind.
E mpty cabinets,
L onely pots and pans.
Y ellow dust caving the counter.

M elodies humming softly in my mind on their own.
U sing my head for a place to escape, finally!
S howing me how to be free.
I mold them, but still, they are alone.
C limbing on the back of a beat just to get away.

F lowing on the minds of this street is the dream.
L oud pops quiet me.
O nly at night will they come looking for me.
W aving through air.
S eeping through the music.

                           Piercing through.

This Melody. These thoughts This music.

                        If only others could see.

Premium Member Four Cafes

Riotous revellers' laughter drifts up from their apricot lit late night haunts, four cafes are notoriously avoided venues for overindulgent consumption of alcohol.

Across the street, from my thirtieth floor apartment window, remote portrait of bodies bent enthralled over their beers,
toads on stools at mushroom stem tables.

Flicker of forbidden recognition crosses my cortex,
- I'm a resident of Broadwater Tower now.
Unstated policy prohibits proximity with riff raff.

Our bar ensures we wear careful attire,
floor gleams mirror marble.
Chrome and cracked leather oud absorbs expensive scents.
Ladies laughter upscale conflicts the low fading mens' vocal.
Tipsy sensation enhanced by deck docked
rolling prestigious flagpole chiming yachts.

Over the road, neolithic neon signs post grotesque cafe names,
Salivate, Green Grotto among them.
Customers come from squat squashed suburbs,
five minute drive away.
Dive bar dark sparks alcoholic amphibians unremarkable bravado.

January holiday season sees sardines huddled heartily under awnings, abandoning next morning necessity.

Premium Member High Calling of God

Heavenly, holy, high
Incredibly indestructible…
God’s calling* for me is great with His gracious grandeur
Heralding His great help; hoisting my faith’s hope!

Championing compassion of the Lord to the core
Assuring me His affirmation-authority
Loud is His calling for me intensified by His love
Leading me to His heart of light.
Insuring my spirit His presence incessantly
Never does God’s calling negate His name’s nature
Granting me genuine gladness…

Opening to me His omnipotence-offers.
Fueled-up by my Master’s charge along His mercy’s fire…

Geared-up to live for Him, I’m guided and girded
Optimized for worship-praise along obedience-onward
Doing His will toward determination’s diligence!

*Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Eloquent Analogy

Between two arms exist the ineffable,
Two apples more powerful than the one Adam ate;
Cheeks like strawberries plucked from the heavens of my heart;
A silky road leading to gardens and butterflies;
A smell of Amber, Oud, and Musk spreading of her body;
Drops of honey hanging there waiting to heal your scars.

Premium Member Dead Mans Shoes

Harry has lived with us the entire eight years.
We did not know that agreeing to keep his shoes here was a big deal.
One day my husband said “I am throwing these oud!”
“We promised his widow!” I shrieked.
It was her one requirement when she sold us this house.

The next week was a nightmare.
I got carjacked. My husband lost his job.
One of our dogs got hit by a truck.
“It was those shoes!” I told my husband.
“Get them back!”
We tried, but they were long gone.

Every week got worse and worse.
We separated, eventually divorced.
I remarried, and we tried to buy a house.
“That was Charlie’s hat,” the seller told us.
“Leave it in the closet, or….”
I ran out screaming.

Silence In the House of Death

THIS PERSON WHO IS HE IN MY HOUSE
WHY DON'T ARISE IN MY JARGON-ED NAME
MY SOUL IN DESPAIR
I HAVE AN INHUMAN INVENTATION TO THIS AMALGAMATING AUDIENCE
OF ARSON
SKELETON 'S ARE IN ADMISSION, THE GHOST IN REPETITION WITH GHOULS
IN DISPOSITION
MY BONES' CRIES ARE FEARLESS IN UNANSWERED
FILLING THE ROOM WITHOUT ENOUGH ACCOMIDATIONS
A DEEP NARROW PATH APPERS OUT OF PARTICIPATION
WHILE THE REAPER BEGANS THE TRASLATION
I FEEL THE INVOICE OF SORROW
WITH DEATH'S INCOMPETTENT BARROW
HE STEALS THE SHAMEFUL TOMOARROW
I STAND IN LUXURY OF ;OUD-SPEACKING MAN OF POWER
CLOCKS TURN MANIPULATING EVERY HOUR I AM LIKE A NEWBORN IN A
MIDNIGHT SHOWER
NEVER FEELING THE SAME
AS I WALK TO SIT DOWN BY THE FIRE, I PLACE MYSELF
AS I 'M STOOPED OVER IN THE MIDDLE,
I AM STRUCK BY A FIDDLE

A Beautiful Scent

A magnificent flower or a beautiful tree are plants of different breed. You’ll smell their scent float in the air as you inhale to breathe.

An attractive smell is natures spell on every man or beast. I like the aroma of every spice but hate the smell of yeast.

A spray of musk or even oud may change a fellows mood. The fumes of myrrh or sandalwood will make the foolish shrewd.

Our taste may differ from one to one depending on what you wear. But when it comes to what young prefer vanilla is in the air.

But what ladies wear will cast a spell and soften shady hearts. It gives them pleasure in social events while in the crowd they spark.

In every wedding the groom will wait to see his lovely bride, she fills the air with the scent of love a smell no one can hide.

Corona, Corona

Corona, Corana
Why do you scare us so?
Scare so many of us; why?
Corana, Corana
I have heard that name before
Seen smoke; drained the bottle
Corona, Corona
I have met the big c
Like a rock; hitting hard
Corona; Corona
I have met the man in green
He cut the c away
Corona, Corona
You are more like water
Drops planting seeds
Corona, Corona
I met the man in white
He won’t test me
Corona, Corona
Why won’t he let me know
Corona, are you there; inside me?
Corona, Corona
I cough your name out oud
Don’t let my library burn
Corona, Corona
The man in black
Corona; make him wait
Corona, Corona
You scare me; so
Cause I don’t know
Corona, Corona
The man in green
Can’t cut you out
Corona, Corona
I don’t know you
I don’t whom you choose
Corona, Corana
You scare me
You scare us
Corona, Corona
The man in blue
Don’t let me meet him; in ICU
Corona, Corona
That black suit
Don’t let me wear it
Corona, Corona
You have a name
I could whisper; with affection
Corona, Corona
I could whisper that
But i won’t
Corona, Corana
There is a man going round taking names
Leaving our hearts in vain
Corona, Corona
You have taken names
But names isn’t just names
Corona, Corona
It might be the name of someone you loved
It might be the name of someone you love
Corona, Corona
You might take names
I won’t give you mine; freely
Corona, Corona
I have sought after names
I have vanted to know; names
Corona, Corona
Name not taken, but given
That’s different
Corona, Corona
I know yours; Corona
Go to sleep; Corona
Corona, Corona

Premium Member Under My Umbrella

Reluctantly
She shelters me
I don't wish to intrude
Her fragrance I must steal away
Bright lavender and oud

The pitter-patter
Of the rain
Disguising how my heart..
It flutters when she is so close
But also when we part

The journey short
My words are slow
She tolerates my gaze
Or the clumsy gated shuffle
As I heap on her much praise

My palms so cold and clammy
But what am I to do?
A simple soul's desire
Walks in my shoes
Next to you

Premium Member Under the sky that dissolves dogmas like the wind does sand

Under the sky that dissolves dogmas like the wind does sand,
A canopy of empathy unfolds like an ancient tapestry,
Embroidered with clarity and illuminated by pure integrity,
Entangled in the fine threads of unknown transcendence.
I listen as celestial conversations sing in honey and cinnamon,
Flowing through the veins of silence like a river of perfect rhymes,
While butterflies, with shimmering silver wings,
Kiss the hibiscus dawn, a prophecy born from glass dreams.
My heart, aflame with diamond fires, reflects pages of rest,
Mirroring the soul's gratitude, painted in shades of patience,
Rising from willows of wisdom, like fortified fields,
That crown the peaks of mountains gazing at the constellations of destiny.
The golden gate, adorned with serene sepals, opens silent sonatas,
Erasing refrains written in loops, imitating recited ancient scriptures,
For once I was a marionette bound by time and fears,
The fear of liberation kept me captive in cracked calligraphies.
Now I journey through rose dunes, breathing divine light,
Eager to strip the verses of love from hypnotic illusion,
Untangling the luminous webs of the inner eye,
Realigning metaphors and eliminating the shadows of ego.
O, sapphire rings of seraphic stars, I surrender to the neon mist,
As my spirit rises toward clouds that whisper magic,
The alchemical rain of dreams falls upon me like a blessing,
Purifying the essence and synchronizing with the echoes of stillness.
Touch me with delicate truth and feel the pulse of pink lilies,
The warmth of cosmic healing, tied to conscious manifestations,
Where vibrant valleys bloom in kindness and forgiveness,
Dwelling in the timeless fragrance of the soul's rebirth.
Musk of metamorphosis and oud of revival, steeped in clarity,
My heart weaves the transcendent twilight yearning for all that breathes,
Through illuminated chakras, uniting merciful rivers with zephyrs,
Until the sky sees the Universe living in the tips of my fingers.

Bequeath To Future Generations

I-n the sight of one God above.

B-equeath to future generations
R-ight path toward glorious abode;

Z-ealously prepare their road.
I-nstruct the children about wisdom, words speak lower than actions;
L-oud and clear message is taught, bequeath to future generations.
