Notes About The Poem

Pierre Édouard Frère French Painter - Under My Umbrella

Listen to poem:

Under My Umbrella

Reluctantly
She shelters me
I don't wish to intrude
Her fragrance I must steal away
Bright lavender and oud

The pitter-patter
Of the rain
Disguising how my heart..
It flutters when she is so close
But also when we part

The journey short
My words are slow
She tolerates my gaze
Or the clumsy gated shuffle
As I heap on her much praise

My palms so cold and clammy
But what am I to do?
A simple soul's desire
Walks in my shoes
Next to you

This is an adorable Poem Sam. Understated, not one bit gushy, just honest feelings. Exactly as a young man might be thinking as he walks so close to a young lady that he believes, outclasses him. An impeccable Ekphrasis. Loved it.
