Dream catchers chime in the wind,
like soft tones of a xylophone.
Melodic melancholic rain,
is free flowing,
but morning birds still arrive,
sitting on wet window sills,
singing about their desires.
In daffodil daydreams,
the breeze resonates like a flutist,
gently swaying bluebells in a rhythmic flow,
as pink, silver and lilac heather spread
around a bed of golden violet crocus.
Under my magnificent magnolia tree,
ivory petals dance in puddles upon
damp lawns with fresh grass,
weeping love songs strummed
on acoustic strings of green.
Sprinkles of drizzle sparkle,
like an absent lover's ostinato,
caressing the earth in a
rhapsody of tender kisses,
nourishing it's soul to harmonise with
a symphony of returning sun rays.
As a chorus of clouds clear in
a final crescendo, introducing
sapphire hues with golden delight,
rainbow pastels bless the tempo
of rows of tantalising tulips
in kaleidoscopic shades -
as natures breathes in alternating fusion.
Rain
Music is like rain: each note
Washes away a care, a worry;
As raindrops wash dust
From a leaf.
Symphonies are storms: a deluge of
Notes engulfs a broken spirit, a
Sweeping flood, washing clean
A new life.
Soft showers are summer sonatas:
Sprinklings of comfort for tired souls,
Warm touches, soothing percussion
For pained minds.
Rain beats ostinato on tin roofs:
Hammering drops a rhythm of passion,
Uplifting, releasing, giving meaning
To the lost.
Rejoice in music, rejoice in rain:
One is nature’s orchestra, the other
Man’s liberation from thought
Made into despair.
Sing softly, play music, enjoy the rain.
Shuffling wreck, legacy of a life well spent;
Knees creaking, clicking articulations, a
Spine complaining, shoulder crunching.
Legs spindly toothpicks beneath a pregnant olive,

Leaping up of stairs, gasping breaths.
A visit to the dungeon of torture, the gymn,
Where perceptions of self are confronted in
cruel mirrors, is penance for past sins…unredeemed
By virtuous exercise. Knee twisting racquets,
With pounding pavements adding compression
To shearing, pilgrimage to salvation is denied.
Red faced, setting pull-down weight to half that
Of the buff young woman who has gone before;
Forte pulse ostinato in ears, setting an impossible
Rhythm for reps, double figures a hopeful ambition.
The clock high on the wall has slowed to an idle
Saunter, refusing to sprint to an acceptable departure.
Ah Me! An evening cocktail awaits: no
Peaty single malt, or fragrant G&T,
But a brimming glass of tepid water,
And the difficult swallow of this pill
And that capsule, all designed to keep
The crumbling body together and flourishing.
But the Sun shines; a friend calls, dinner is agreed,
Igniting smouldering anticipation of delight that sends
Intimations of mortality to cower in a dusty corner
Of the mind. And the back straightens; vision clears,
Seeing self in happier light, vague twinges are ignored,
Sulking. Living is renewed, with currency yet to spend.
Nimblest stick skims hit drum skin
Bring submittance to my ears afore deafened
Transmitted rhythm rips something
Transcribes fusion to percussionless essence
Slight vibration of battered recipient
Resonates hot with beat's cogent command
Arcaic lyrics kept frosted ambivalent
Snare wires wrap me tight with dire demand
Equipped persistent musician tender
Taps jazz ostinato out until my innards revolt
Sends suddenly a heart buzz centred
Haphazard feeds my ardent uncovered pulse
Simultaneous cymbal clash climactic
Existing utterly in thrum ghost note's vacance
