Floating, once upon a pond
He caught a fish by light of dawn
A fish so big he gasped in awe.
As he gazed into her gaping maw
But he saw by her belly, she was yet to spawn
So he threw her back in, and told her "be gone"
stand on the shore line
cast your pole so fine
Feel the tug, you start to jump around
reel in this fish, don't put it down
see I had a fish flop away last time.
~
This fish was waiting to dine
With the worms he saw last time
My fish looked at me with a frown
I picked him up, we danced around
My fish said hey do you have a dime?
~
I stood there puzzled this time.
My fish asked me for a dime.
think to myself I am acting like a clown
For this fish wants a ride to town.
I took my fish out to dine this time.

limerick on fishing contest
Fly little seagull, fly with your oily wings
Or have some tasty dead oily fish
It will slip down the throat with ease
We humans call it a Gulf oil spill dish
We humans all love to go to the beach
Lay there all oiled up and tan
Why cannot the birds and fish
The Gulf oil will help it really can
The governments allow us to chop the trees
Destroying the rain forests with axes
Why not a little oil spill
They’ll cover it by raising taxes
So don’t pay any attention to the Gulf
And the life destroyed by the oil spill
Just lay back relax and enjoy
We’ll mop it up later just chill
The day I heard about the spill.
It made me feel extremly ill.
The wildlife was my first thought.
And all the death the spill has brought.
The birds the fish and the animals to.
The numbers are greater than we ever knew.
The animals are the ones we'd forgotten.
I think this whole thing is really rotten.
It's not just birds and fish that were toxic.
There's rabbts, racoons and even the foxes.
It's hard to see them covered in oil.
When I saw it on T.V. it made my blood boil.
There are some people that deserve a shout.
My hat does go off to all who helped out.
small fish in shallows
large fish found in deepest depths

The damn still stands at Fickling Mill
Holding water after all these years
On the creek called Patsiliga
Homeland of Indian braves and ladies
Now Patsiliga is polluted
Contains high levels of mercury unsuited
For fish and wildlife unsafe to eat
From these waters take no meat
(Went by Fickling Mill and Patsiliga Creek for the funeral on the weekend. I love the
word Patsiliga(in the Indian's language it means pigeons roosting place). This is
beautiful farming country down in Taylor County. I looked up some info on mercury
and found that something about the combination of leaves and other natural
residue somehow holds onto the mercury. I don't know from where the mercury
has come but the levels that are getting into some fish are not safe. It is possible
that since this is farming country that the mercury comes from the pesticides used
on crops and the mix of the leaves holding it in is the problem. This is not fact that
you can go out and preach but look up info if you want to.)
