I smoked a pack of Marlboros
Every day, left butts smoldering
In dirty, smelly ashtrays
The nicotine addiction compelled
Me to quit… yet, I did not
I smoked until there was only
Short, spasmic breaths
Left in my black lungs
And oxygen had to be taken aside
So I could light up

I drank a fifth of vodka
Every day, left empty glasses
In a sink that hesitated
To risk the flood of last drops
Being washed away with Dawn
And the tears that poured
Down cheeks who knew
I was an alcoholic who couldn’t
Quench my thirst with anything
That didn’t say 90 proof

I swallowed a Percocet every time
The pain that pierced my heart
With regrets, remorse, remembrances
Started to edge between me
And the familiar feeling of numbness
That comes from taking a pill
Every time the feeling that rises inside
Feels like you have been slapped
With the truth, the facts, the reality
Coming alive without that 10 mg capsule

The addiction flowed through me in waves
Caressing the beach of my thoughts
Like a sea laps at the sandy shore with
The familiar touch of hope for the sun
Who will light up, with rays, hues of gold
Whispering through the morning
Embracing the pastel shells and mysterious
Swells of ocean water, pushing against the beach
Like a gentle hand will push against my habits
With the knowledge that this dependence is vile

I clasp hands with the truth when I take a breath
And look up at the heavens with a broken heart
Who listens to the words that come alive inside
When the heavenly Father looks down at me
The child who is drifting on waves of sin and shame
And, in a still small voice speaks…

Even the richest, most blessed nation can pray
For redemption.. just have faith,

God bless the USA and AAA

Premium Member Understanding Lipids

Lipid is another name for fat
Blood lipids are fats in your blood
Doctor creates a breakdown of different types of fat in your blood
Help determine the type of heart disease you’re at risk

When your doctor or healthcare provider checks your lipids
You are to get a list of the following categories
Total cholesterol
Includes the sum of HDL, LDL, and VLDL cholesterol components

High-density lipoprotein (HDL)
Commonly called “good” cholesterol
It carries excess cholesterol back to liver
Which processes and excretes the cholesterol

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL)
Bad cholesterol
High levels are linked to increase the risk for heart disease
You want this below 100 mg/dl

Very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL)
Determined by dividing triglyceride by 5
VLDL can be converted to LDL or
Bad cholesterol

Triglycerides
Blood fat that is not only affected by the fat in your diet
But is increased by excess calories in the diet
By excess carbohydrate in the diet

Normal for triglycerides to increase after eating a meal
But they usually fall back to normal in 2 to 3 hours
High triglycerides have recently been linked to heart disease
You want this number below 150 mg/dl

Prescribing a pinch of INFERNO
Add a mg of TNT
A Bomb a day will keep Eden far away
DEATH always cures the sinuses

Cupid's Other Arrow

What is Love?
But a double edged sword...
Like Cupids arrow,
That pierces your inner core,
A harpoon of love driven through your humble heart...
Emotions gushing out like an erotic volcano,
Lava Love, hot and heavy.
This brings forth fertile ground...early spring
Flowers blossom at your touch...
Animal magnetism...
Sexual convulsions...aromas of Amour-
We indulge in the full spectrum...
The gambit of Love...
Oh Venus...how we love to love to love...
       But... Cupid has another arrow-
A magnetic harpoon...thrown at the speed of light,
To my metallic Heart...
Thrusting my inner core of emotions...
A vomiting volcano spewing the guts of love.
Lava blood running red...with smells of cinder and dust-
Like swallowing a burning cactus...thorns of despair...
Oh Lost Love...
All Love is lost...
Oh Aphrodite what dark seas have you cast...
The lava is melting my soul...melting...meltng...mltng...mtng...mg...

A Decisive Hour Pt. 1

Friday, March 26th, it began around 9:30 am
a date and time I will remember forever. My whole
world was about to change. I found that everything I
believed spiritually was about to be altered. Perhaps and
not necessarily for the worst, though I do not understand
exactly how, or how severely. I do know that when my
heart attack struck, I for the first time in my life did not
blame God! I blamed myself. You see I drank too much,
I smoked too much and have a known family history of
heart disease. None of which is His fault. It is all mine,
mine alone. As I lay in the ER room bed, worried about my
own mortality, my family, there was something else.
I asked for forgiveness. I prayed! At that moment while
the EKG machine was being hooked up on me, I felt a hand
slip into mine, not Mary's, I could see her in the doorway.
Just as one Doctor was telling me I was indeed having
a heart attack, another was telling Mary that it was about
to become very crowded in there, and she was whisked off
by that Doctor and the Hospital Priest. As my clothes began
to be removed, the Doctor said I was told I got here early.
That was a good thing. As that was being said, the hand held
me tighter. The order for Heparin and Nitro given and
immediately administered, I found myself being wheeled off
to the Cath. Lab. All the while the rest of my clothes were
being removed in the elevator. Yet, I felt no fear, Why?
The hand in mine remained, ever present. I was slid from
the ER bed to the Cath. table, I did not hear a voice, I felt one
Clear, concise and the most loving I have ever felt or heard.
The hand was that of my Lord and Savior Jesus. At that point
I felt no worry, no sorrow, however I did feel the pain. Naked,
but not alone. I felt no modesty, no shame. The real me was there
wide open for all to see. The order for ten mg. of Morphine was
given, as soon as it was the Doctor said, " Here we go Richard

Prednisone Poetry

On occasion upper respiratory and sinus infections require
oral steroids to squelch and dry the muck and mire
To breathe without the wheeze is the desired effect
though some of the side effects are hard to reject
Loss of appetite is great, maybe I will lose some weight
some others I truly did not anticipate
Nothing good is listed in the insert or online sites
the best is my brain is on fire, blazing dendrites
Twisted thoughts and raging rhymes the result
crazy concoctions, decadent desires now the defaults
I like this, I freaking LOVE this, what altered bliss
head busting with stuff that needs emergent release
Not just from swollen, overactive mucous membranes
but steroid induced, agitated axons needing drained
STAT
Now infections subdued, RX for Prednisone 20 mg.
2 tabs for 5 days completed
if I emailed questionable poems just delete them
Though I am admitting I saved one tab to bite off a chunk
if again my brain is in a flatline funk
Oh no, just kidding !!

A Phosphorus Attack

A phosphorus attack
                                                           (Squatter, ranch/station owner)
50 years ago the wild pigs were there in the thousands,
Aussie Squatters used to bait em, sap em,
with phosphorus, the louses?

A lethal dose was ~50 mg
Stopped dead without his trousers,
A side effect was the fire effect
Of long dead, old pig the browser.

Suddenly you would have a fire,
Phosphorus, was the poison,
Dead eagle hawks, and Foxes too,
Dingoes killed by poison.

Rabbit was killed with stricknine ,
With sweet plum jam, a treat,
Cos the master hated rabbit,
Cos drought left no grass to eat

Drought causes paranoia,
When it’s dying all around ya,
And the Dingoes are a howling ,
Foxes are eating Fowls, are.

The Shearers strike in Australia in 1891,
Got the Labor party going,
good wages then were won ,
Armed farmers fought the Shearers ,
Shearers jailed were often, some.

Old Shearer wanted payback ,
Upon the Squatter master, Jack,
So phosphorus in water,
 by the shearer attack,

months after the deed the water dried
and fire flew up the building,
another shearing shed burns,
fire so bewildering

A phosphorus attack!

Premium Member It's Supposed To Make - Me - Mel - Low

So they've upped my medication

From 10 mg to 20 mg

It's the stuff that's supposed to make... me... mel... low

I almos... uh... almo... almost nodded... off... ff!

Don't think it's strong enough yet... thhh...ough!

Hopefully I'll soon start writing about fairies and pretty flowers

Instead of demons and evil monsters

Some of my best friends are fairies

Hang on... the ones with wings like Tinker Bell

We go skipping through the meadow with gay abandon

Now there you go misunderstanding me again

Well, getting back to my medication

Sometimes it makes me so mellow

I tend to try to stuff mashed potatoes in my ear hole

Not a good idea... especially in a restaurant

Mothers grab their wee kiddies

Cover their eyes while quickly moving to a different table

I mean no harm... I love everybody

In the whole great big entire world

Pork It's the Other White Meat {epulaeryu}

curry-crumble pork chops
so mouthwatering
Just dare to be different folks
moistness lies in the
layers of yogurt
brushed over
pork!

Curry-Crumbed Pork Chops

Panko are coarse bread crumbs usually found next to other bread crumbs in the
supermarket.

3/4 cup plain yogurt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion
2 bone-in center-cut rib pork chops (3/4 inch
    thick)
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/3 cup panko
1 teaspoon curry powder

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Combine yogurt, mustard, salt and pepper in small bowl. Reserve
one-fourth of the yogurt mixture; stir green onion into remaining yogurt mixture. Brush
reserved yogurt mixture onto both sides of pork chops.

2. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Cook pork 4 to 6
minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Remove pork; place on foil-lined baking sheet.

3. Combine panko and curry powder; stir into drippings in skillet. Spread over top of pork.

4. Bake 8 to 12 minutes or until pork is pale pink in center. Serve with yogurt sauce.

A New Monster On the Loose

A New Monster on the Loose

By Elton Camp

I suppose that honesty is never a defect
One product’s name is so scarily correct

For it is certainly a monster, yes indeed
For a day, no more sodium or fat will need

It’s Hardee’s fast food we thank for this treat
The Monster Biscuit for breakfast is complete

It contains bacon, sausage, ham, egg and cheese
With a made-from-scratch biscuit holding these

It has more cholesterol than you need all day
For only a bit more add hash rounds, they say

Included in this (at no extra charge):
2300 mg sodium (1 tsp. salt) [Daily Value = 2400 mg]
275 mg cholesterol [Daily Value = 300 mg]
18 g saturated fat [Daily Value = 20 g]
57 g fat [Daily Value = 65 g]
30 g protein
38 g carbohydrates
790 calories

Hard Green Tomatoes

Two boys gathered hard green tomatoes
from their neighbors garden
This would be ammunition against
unsuspecting cars
We hid behind a stone wall
A brand new 1973 MG and Bam!
The passenger door had a Giant dent

We ran up a steep hill
changed our clothes
and walked calmly to the action
with a football as a prop
My father knew…
He was looking out the bathroom window
When everyone left
he whacked me hard
I hit the deck
I was 9

Mindless of Authority
Programming essential at birth

Many years have passed and the boy
now a man is still learning
That was the only time my father showed
me attention

I was just broken … that’s all
Still am
