Best Loggerheads Poems

Inherently Good

Being human there is the stronger urge
That inborn desire towards good
Or the diversion towards badness
Our innate inborn capacity for good
Equals our divergence towards badness

The Lord searches the souls of men
Examining intent and purpose
Man is mostly inclined towards evil
No one is good except the father
Not one desires righteousness

The Lord is not tempted by the flesh
Nor is he a son of man in need of redemption
But man is flesh and spirit- the two
Constantly at cross-purpose and loggerheads
Goodness or badness.. choice and circumstances

The Mentor

How was it that I knew so little?
Your constant admonishments seemed so brittle.
But, as time progressed from day to day
I began to realize, that was just your way.

You taught me things I knew not
and in all the years, it was a lot.
Naivete' was my strong suit,
with a little stupidity thrown in to boot.

We came often at times to loggerheads
You often chimed, "Something above your neck must be dead".
Yet, you helped me to carve out a life for me and mine
and took me to places where you knew I would shine.

You were patient with me in your own way
as I struggled to learn from day to day.
You acted as father, brother, friend and boss,
It was only today, that I learned of my loss.

No longer will I hear your soliloquy,
The depth of your loss, I have yet to see.
For you were my Mentor in times of fun and strife,
I will carry your memory...the rest of my life.

Me My Bicycle and Life

me and my bicycle
are in a ***** relation
at least in the state of running
at high speed it keeps balance
but off balance my life becomes
while I drive at low speed

me and my life
now at loggerheads
at least in the matter of speed
my life runs well like a bicycle
but at the age of forty
I could not afford high speed
upon putting much efforts
I develop back pain.

Another Dead Scarlet

This house
older
than the cave man
gave shelter
to five generations
of loggerheads
confederate dudes
with mustaches
out of frame

Under the staircase
the skeleton
of another Scarlet
with the skull
riddled from bullets
because she went
with the handsome miller
next door

A case for CSI
Cold case
FBI
instead
outside
the demolition
crew
and the antiquary
of course
a jew...

Twosome at loggerheads.
            Tempers flare now and then!
      The referee nowhere...

 To be found; good heavens!
                     Tempest in a teapot.
      Trouble in paradise;

  The state of their union.

Unshaken Love

Our love is so real,
yet,we can`t be together,
Silly tradition...
Families at loggerheads,
how can love be so painful?

Past haunts the present,
but our love is unshaken,
despite parents row,
We`re ready to break this seal
and remain close til death parts...

Zionism Fever

The Middle Eastern watch
As the Zionist regime tries
To assert its territorial area

Territorial integrity now threatened
They unleash terror on their enemies
Its called the holy land but why now
In the name of all that's sacred and holy
The continuous strife and endless wars

They talk of Abrahamic faiths at loggerheads
Be it though that The Lord is a Man of War
But why is it that us humans can't coexist

Even when our religions preach peace
There are always undertones of war
Call it Jihad or a Holy war.. blood shed
Is still abominable.. when did human life
Cease to have value.. now bombs drop

Then the retaliations are organized daily
Then the entire world watches the fever
Praying the virulent middle Eastern fever
Doesn't spread into the entire region
Praying that 'The end' will not come soon..
Even so the Word asserts come soon Lord

Premium Member The Defeated

Mates at loggerheads to blow the intensity
a spirited fight from determined hearts quite quarrelsome
there’s always a plan, a track to follow
dying minutes give both sides reasons to fluster
one is exalted, the other temporarily doomed
trounced is the confidence, the most affected victim
the battle was destined the other way de jure
painful is the sight of them licking the candy
losing, definitely comes with no absolute criterion
one volcanic tussle that came agonizingly so close
denting the shape of an already telling testimonial
celebrations of the other, creating a clear septum
in the spirit of sportsmanship, respected is the contest
back to the drawing board the low spirits deliberate
to win gold when the next whistle is blown.

Premium Member Turtle Mania

Leatherback, murray river, matama
Hawksbill, common musk and spiny soft shell.
Loggerhead, Atlantic green, alligator snapping
Turtles are we, in every country we dwell.

The largest sea turtle reaches eight hundred pounds.
A leatherback whose love for jellyfish abounds.
Alligator snapping is one fourth of leatherback’s weight
Uses pink fleshy flap of lower jaw for bait.

The difference in turtles fascinates me.
I can picture the loggerheads running to the sea.
No matter what country you decide to make your home
There is a turtle close by, even if it is in this poem.

Sweet November

Alone in the dark
Daydreaming about what was once mine
Eternal flames dancing about like a lark
Killing my sorrow in bottles of wine
Up until that night
Nothing – and I mean nothing ever
Left me in such a state of fright
Except for that fateful day last year in November
Arriving at a crossroads
Jungle boots and helmets
At loggerheads with civilians in folds
Shots fired. So many deaths
Including my beloved’s
November is here again, and so is the hurt!

I Love You

Magnitude, the depth of sleeping oceans
where bright eyed creatures, unseen by
man, prisoners of prehistory,
denizens of deep emotions,
swim a primeval mystery
unsolved and undefined.

Sometimes they caper crazed and blind,
lashing with trident tongues or
languorously wrapping suckered limbs,
engulfing the nerves, the much maligned
attract of secret wicked things,
the smoke of silt and dread.

And still immortal words are said
to motorise the mouths and eyes of
men and women ruthlessly
at loggerheads on ocean beds,
"I love you" spoken ceaselessly
in the timeless seas of time.

A World So Alive

A world of magicians and faeries and elves
Mystical and magical intense and alive
Feverishly I grasp at every wish blowing fast
In my world I can see magic as it runs past
Hues of mist and colours of sunlight
Mirrors of truth and wizards of justice
The subjects addressed by the faerie king himself
The pixies giggle intent in their play as they delve
The gnomes and leprechauns at loggerheads again
I smile as I turn and watch the king order his men

Premium Member On Everest

I stand on top of world. I’ve won!
I’m a statue frozen solid -
On tippy-toes I’ve reached the sun.

I took a showering from cloud.
I’m bitten up with frosty snow.
Too late for me to brag out loud.

This sunny sphere won’t help unfreeze.
On Everest, I’m cold of brain,
Too full of pride, to bend my knees.

Could artist rush to see me there,
and would he chisel me like wax,
to find my form - for I am bare.

And would a poet shed some tears
and make believe that I was brave
or struggle with our greatest fears?

Who’d music bring to sing of me?
Are sirens here at top of world
and have they climbed so far from sea?

On tippy-toes I’ve reached the sun.
There, fire and ice at loggerheads.
Deceived of life - it’s death, I won.
