Premium Member Blue Lobster

A blue lobster was saved at Red Lobster today
From the usual fate of lobster ways.
The zookeepers came and took her to the zoo
Where everyone said, “Look she’s blue”.

The other lobsters complained,
"We’re all red-we’re all the same."
And one by one, they ended up on plate
As the dinner a hungry customer ate.

So next time you feel overlooked,
Be thankful that you weren’t cooked!
To get attention, you now know what to do,
Simply dress in something blue.

Lobster Rain

A good friend died
I don't know who
A eulogy on the car radio said
"He was a good friend to all"

It begins to rain
On the road a raccoon family
Bodies strewn
According to size and age
The stripes remind me
Of holocaust pajamas

A lobster was killed for me
I watched it drop into boiling water
I didn't hear it scream
But a dog outside began to bark
The dark red restaurant
Yaws like a Spanish galleon
Rain spattered windows
Crash through a squall

Driving home
A voice
"The rain will end everywhere shortly"
When the rain doesn't stop
no one says anything

Later that night
bedraggled birds fly
through pennyweight eyes

Lobster Fishing

Lobster Fishing

It was still dark when I arrived at five o’clock
I commenced the day by going to the wrong dock
I was a little concerned that I may be late
When I arrived they were still loading bait.

The boat started up with a thunderous sound
You must stay the channel so you don’t run a ground
Next you head into the safety of the bay
Everyone’s quiet with not much to say.

As we turn the corner the sun divides the sky and sea
A blend of orange, purple and blue explode in front of me
The sea starts to pick up and the boat gets tossed
A peace grows within all else is lost…

You pull the traps up in what’s called a set
You winch them on board to see what you get
My job was to restock the bait
It seemed kind of an ironic fate.

It was pretty hard work yet so much fun
Me, the boat, the sky and the sun
We had a pretty good catch and turned to go back
The auto pilot planned our course of attack

On the way in you wash down the boat
It cleaned up quite well with water and soap.
As I view around me as it was time to go
The sea put on its own picture show.

When we returned to the river the tide had come in
All of the lobsters had been placed into bins
The boat was too tall to fit under the bridge
Like smooth sailing and then hitting a ridge.

We had to unload the boat so the catch wouldn’t be lost
Our pride and a little work was all that it cost
When we had finished it was time to rest
Having comfort in knowing we did our best.

We cleaned up and had dinner to end the day
This is my lobster tale of today
Everyone found humor in what I had to say
Then we said goodbye and went on our way.

When I got home I fell fast asleep
I dreamed of a bottom far too deep
It was a long day and I needed to rest
The lobster became someone else’s dinner guest.

Premium Member The Art of Eating Lobster

When in swanky restaurants, 'tis easy to daintily dine on cordon bleu,
But dining on lobster requires deft finesse without humiliating you!
For what its worth, I offer the following that I've learned o'er the years,
To show snobbish waiters you're really not all that wet behind the ears!

First of all, a wizened waiter will provide a bib if he's really on the job.
(Somehow, they perceive right away that you are a rather artless slob!)
When cracking open each morsel, some violent squirting may occur!
Should juice spritz the guy at the next table simply say, "Sorry sir"!

The hapless lobster is dissected in certain order to make the meal complete.
First, remove the claws, crack the shell with a claw cracker and remove the meat.
For this a fork is provided, then discard the shells in a bowl being discreet!
Next, twist the tail from the body and break off the flippers - those you musn't eat!

And now for the piece de resistance, that long anticipated holy grail,
(That you paid fifty-five bucks for!) - that scrumptious lobster's tail!
Insert a lobster fork into the flesh and gently ease it out of the shell.
(Sucking meat from the legs is optional - on that matter I will not dwell!)

A female lobster might contain a bit of roe considered a delicacy by some.
(If that is your fancy, quietly asking about the lobster's sex is the rule of thumb!)
Plunge lobster pieces in butter taking care not to let it run down your arm!
(Leaving a sizeable tip for the disaster you've created wouldn't do any harm!)

Lobster Tales

There once was a crab in the sea
who always wanted to be
a lobster you know
so he had to grow
a tail almost as long as he.

Life is so cool
On seas and oceans
Best steamed, served over a pool
Sweet and sour delicacy of paeans
Throat where its brain rests
Engulfed head where stomach and kidney nests
Ripping teeth in stomach feasts

Under the depths below the deep
of this Atlantic Ocean
live the lobsters that crawl and creep
with an articulated motion.

On the ocean that smells so fresh
the boatmen cast their nets
for lobsters' tender, tasty flesh
which they'll sell to pay their debts.

With a great catch this new season
the boatmen head for home;
the frozen lobsters give them reason
to reach harbor and not to roam!

In restaurants and sold at stores,
the lobsters are enjoyed
till all on New England's shores
are full and over-cloyed.

Sir Robert Perellopsimus Lobster

Robert P. Lobster had only one claw
It caused him to swim with a very bad yaw
An oyster twin
Joined him in sin
Together they yelled out, "YEEHAW!

Round and round went Bob and the twin
Ignoring the ominous fin
On some big guy
Swimming nearby
Who had a huge mouth, but no chin

Into said mouth went the entangled pair
Unaware, as they were, of their error
A major distraction
And a fatal attraction
Could one assume they just didn't care?

Lobster Bile

I was afraid.
The morsel of fear laid upon my finger
It laughed at my dismay

It was quick.
Leaping from my hand
To my carnivorous cave

It reminded me of home.
My moms warm garlic
mashed potatoes

Dancing around
Swirling with such soothing grace
It was peaceful, calming

It tasted like a buttery roll
A divine gift from the gods
Which fell gracefully upon my tongue

It timorously tumbled down my throat
Feebly and weak
I conquered it.

Then it sank its sharp fangs into my gullet
Causing my nostrils to flair
And my eyes to water

Its taste was deceiving
Mimicking its appearance
It was evil.

It thrashed around
and slowly finished sliding down my throat
But it was gone.

I rejoiced over the demise of my foe.
I conquered the unconquerable.

Chess Lobster

The lobster smiled at Carlsen on the other side of the table,
never played one before, appropriate his name was Klawvostic,
they say that Carlsen waits for mistakes, there were none,
Carlsen smirked, if I kill him, first I'm supposed to stun.

Once, an insect had fallen from the greasy hair of an opponent,
he had picked up a rook and painstakingly crushed it to death,
Norwegians have no qualms, that's why he was the best,
it would take more than a crustacean and all the rest.

The lobster opted for the crab's gambit, which was refused,
not the first time that he'd created a Zulu pincer he'd been accused;
the game ground along, Carlsen imagined a good shelling,
but who would crack first - there was no way of telling.

Finally, Carlsen reluctantly just had to offer a draw,
the lobster grinned, if that was possible and held out a claw.

Flying Lobster

did you hear about that lobster from Maine
who tried to steal an airplane
but his plan had some flaws
because he only had claws
and didn't have much of a brain

The Lobster Family

The Lobster Family

The lobotomy was successful those creeps said
Draped in their robes of silk and snake sheadings
The burning fumes of ethanol force their way up nostrils
Reducing my mind to silly putty
A carnival you say, well how fun could that be?
To see the dashed hopes, dreams, and brains of imps kept in splinters
Or are they babies?
Though I do believe both words mean the same thing
An army of rats now surrounds our doomed party, led by the great general
Tuleisius
Rumored if I might say, to eat his own offspring.
But a hero nonetheless, for he has subdued the rebellious mice,
Who have been accused of tainting the sweet chocolate with rat poison
They consume those who are too weak and slow,
Picking off the feeble breasted and minded
Sticky gum and cotton hold me in place,
As I’m forced to watch those beasts tunnel through my skin
Engineering mazes of channels throughout my body
Or are they just veins?

Bar Harbor

Bah Habah is how they say it in Maine.
The cool summer breezes wash over the town.
Sailboats ride at rest waiting patiently at their moorings.
Lobstah fishermen load their traps, hoping for a prize haul.
Ospreys and seals vie for the best fish.
Acadia National Park beckons bikers and hikers.
Icy waters from the Labrador Current will chill the body,
The view from Cadillac Mountain will thrill the soul.
Tourists feast on the fresh sea harvest, followed by Indian pudding.
Ahh, Bah Habah in the summah!!!

Two Sky Lobster Poems

In the autumnal twilight two pink red sky lobsters

in pots are slowly hauled in by black fishing smacks

that are sailing north, while the white sea around

them compete with the black water churning a bluish grey

by the boat's propeller as this gorgeous sky at night closes in.

Two red fighting lobsters chase a black lobster boat

across the autumnal twilight, as if they could trick the

boat into sailing into a whirlpool capsizing the law of

the sea, only for the boats to be saved by the enveloping night.

world of a whirlpool as boof the deep vacating their

of an autumn twilight
