where the words just got in the way
lost inside the smoke of just another day

reaching for a reaction for actions done wrong
forgiveness sung for a special friend of mine
When the dew drops no longer shine for me
and a hard rain begins to fall
they'll be no visitors after midnight
but I'll still be calling your name

Now we mark a big occasion
The “Golden Wedding Anniversary“
Of George and Sally, or to you
“Leon and Gayle”
now here’s their tale ...
Gayle was a city of Moffett girl,
Leon a shy Allentown farm boy.
Opposites attracted,
And the result was just pure joy.
They raised cat, dogs, horses, cows,
Vegetables, flowers, bugs and all kinds of toys.
they also managed very well
To raise three girls and two boys.
Chris was the first,
Then Susie and Sandie followed suit.
Next was Randy and Justin,
All great kids to boot.
Now, ol’ Leon and Gayle
Are grandparents as well.
There’s Amber, Jason and Jonathan
and Blake and Lexi, we think their all swell.
Step-grandparents to Maddi and Thomas
then great-grandparents to Llana as well.
They’re just outstanding people,
So charming and down to earth.
A Mom and Dad like those two?
Can’t tell you what it’s worth.
The fact is that we truly
Just love them both to pieces.
Growing up was truly fascinating,
And always lots of fun.
So to this most engaging man
And his sweetheart of a wife.

To fifty years of bliss.
It took half of a century
For a day as fine as this!

A 4 star general in an army of stampeding moose
Man my mind is open like a splinter
This unorthodoxed summer fling will survive the coldest winter

I’ll keep this short,
that all may know
These words I write,
I write to show
A singer* once said of
the trade that he plied
A poem is a person,
stands naked and spied
A compliment given
reflects back upon
The giver if not
those words were steeped on
So when you tell me
just so, to be nice
“The stanzas you wrote
I just had to read twice”
(I'd expect you to do so
And second that motion
Re-read it my self
Added words to this notion)
Please do a poem honor
and read it again
Don’t let first time through
be simply the end.

The road in front of us falls away,
The radio static becomes a wall we nod our heads to,
And the car splutters along like cheap fireworks
Again your eyes slide off the dash onto my hands
Which are busy being nervous.
In this silence it is impossible not to feel like an uninvited guest,
All flesh, no voice.
I reach to touch the speakers and this rope around us
Snaps.
After two hours, three dirt roads, and one discussion of what real rock music is,
We still have an ocean in front of us
Maybe April comes early this year
Maybe winter decides to stay home
Maybe my skin becomes a lighthouse
Just maybe.
You are the last shred of lightning that connects me to the storm.
Leon Byner has left the building
After 23 years of people bargaining
He was the people’s voice to be heard
And on most things he was undeterred
I remember him spinning discs in the 60s and 70s
As a radio disc jockey so cool you see
Before shifting to talkback radio at 5AA
Where he would take on the issues for SA
So like everyone he has reached his
final show
And today 1/12/22 it was his time to go
There will be people now taking a sigh
As South Australians we wish him well and goodbye.

James is ok, he came out of theater at 1pm we were home by 5pm today God was with us
and his healing came fast, and as the song goes What A Faith God Have I. and Amen to that .
