Afghan Journey
I want to wear a djellabas.
Blackness engulfing me in its tentlike refuge
veiled in gauze.
Or a burkha of blue with a screen
over my face to hide
my eyes.

I want to wear rope sandals
down a dusty Afghan road on
the warmest of days
with the wind whistling
through the Khyber...

An old gal applied to join Mensa
Gee she couldn’t be any denser
She went in the wrong door
On the thirty third floor
And there she enrolled as a fencer

When attending her first fencing class
A man scored a hit on her huge ass
She screamed out so loud
It drew...

Hope Yes We Can
Hope yes we can: a target in the vision of the horizon
Offering here new possibility to embrace omnipotency
People are the motive force of truth, gate to halcyon
Emanations of eternity - the eagle exploits a new history

Yearning unshackled its wings o'er citadel in white disarray
Empowered by...

Premium Member The Good Ol' Us of A
I've traveled by plane and ship all about this celestial ball;
Visited many fascinating lands and intriguing ports of call.
I've done it all, seen it all and no matter whence I stray,
There ain't nothin' like livin' in the good ol' US of A!

I've marveled as the...

Premium Member I'D Rather Be In Colorado
I've ventured far from Indiana, the home soil of my birth,
To many exotic and exciting places all about this earth.
I've seen majestic Mount Fuji from the Kanto Plain of Tokyo.
But I'd rather marvel at Pikes Peak right here in Colorado!

I've traveled the rugged Khyber Pass...

Premium Member The Globe
It sat on Miss Ruth's desk, a sphere of intrigue and wonder.
'Twas a globe that in my reveries I'd gaze at and ponder.
It depicted marvelous vistas that seductively beckoned me,
And lit a fire in my youthful soul for places I yearned to see!

How my free...

Premium Member The Road To Kabul
The hustle of the
Khyber pass
Dusty
Dirty
Traffic chaotic
Pori’s border
Like the ground
Soaking up my foot prints
We move beyond
The bus is silent
In this barren landscape
I look upon the discarded
Shells of war
Interesting
I identify shells
From many wars
Like a walk
Along a beach
After a storm
An high tide
But the storm
Still thundering
The...

Afghanistan Fourth Time Lucky?
Afghanistan - fourth time lucky !?
Every day on the news.
(Just before the funny bit)
Soldiers names are scrawled on the grim roll call

Yet in centuries past
Every day in the paper.
Strangely familiar names were recalled.

When will we learn history' s lesson
and stop seeing young lives.
Rubbed...
