Premium Member Hey Ho Does An Octopus Know POTD

hey ho
does an octopus know
how to juggle with eight cups and saucers
and the fish watching him
while the elephants swim
then he juggles with a turtle and tortoise

then ho hey
does the octopus say
I can do this all day round in circles
but an ache in my arm
in my arm, in my arm
and so on through all eight tentacles

so hey ho
let the octopus go
to bed nice and early with honey
to rest and recline
for a considerable time
so he doesn’t feel worn out and funny

ho hey
and a new octopus day
refreshed and all ready to juggle
so with cups and with saucers
a turtle and tortoise
but the elephant’s splash makes him struggle

hey hey
that’s not fair that’s not fair
so the octopus went somewhere quieter
where he practised a lot
and a lot more than not
and so now he’s a pro entertainer

Talking Smack

*I've been called a 'shrew,' told I am self centered, petty, and a few other rather insulting and invective names, so here is my rebuke.

Who plays the straight man for the one known as 'Schmoe?'
It's the Jester who juggles where ever Schmoe tells him to go.
Then there's Mr. DoGoody who seeks the spotlight of fame,
reproaching PS poets by pointing his finger at them in shame.

Three fatuous figures who lie in wait for Poetry Soup blogs
Croaking like three pompous bullfrogs in criticizing dialogues
Verbal abusers, slanderer of a nation, and he who prances
hoping to give Schmoe, his bro, the stage... the lackey dances.

It's a tragic case of fools rushing in where wiser men never go
A disease suffered by the egos of DoGoody, Jester, and Schmoe
A threesome pretending they're Red Barons in control of awacs
but they're just three old wacky muggins, Poetry Soup Quacks.

Ask a question and see what nonsense they will spew at you
Swearing their intent is righteous, and their cause is true blue,
but the more they protest, the deeper the holes they are digging.
A misguided clique always zagging when they should be zigging.

So if you bother to read what they write, just consider this...
the underlying meaning to their dribble shows what's amiss.
It's a game they play...one where they often make mistakes
Nuts have to be added to the batter while making a fruitcake

Now if you're thinking I'm just as guilty for some name calling,
I'm ready to be under attack with their whining and squalling.
I've already been accused by DoGoody of talking behind his back...
So here I am, you're all unblocked if you want to talk more smack.

As a boy, I wanted to be a teen.
To be free from playgrounds, older and growing.
To go where I wanted, outgoing and seen,
Life as a kid, carefree and outgoing.

As a teen, I wanted to go on to college
To leave high school behind and move on.
Some naivety gone, now yearning for knowledge
Life as a teen, exploring and strong.

As a student, I wanted to learn then find work,
To leave Higher Ed and have money.
To put away study, I’ll start as a clerk;
Life as a student, is too poor for my honey.

As employed, I wanted so soon to retire
To step off of the ladder and goals.
To no longer control who I mentor or hire.
Life as employed, juggles so many roles.

As a senior, I wanted to stay home in bed.
To be free from the work my life has been.
To no longer sweat, but find rest for my head
Life as a senior, holds peace or chagrin.

As I die, all I want is my life to replay;
To leave this old body and go back to when
I could cherish each season and seize every day
God take me back, to my childhood again.

Premium Member Bipolar Bear

Bipolar bear drifting upon the omega iceberg.
Surrounded by a sea of salty self-pity.
Old blood on your teeth.
Nothing left to lean upon.
Nothing left to eat.

On the shore, the pharmacist juggles pills of false hope.
The tooth walkers laughing at the folly.
The warming camouflage is dying.
All weaknesses have been exposed.

A pod of orca peri scoping for an opening.
Bashing edges of the ice bear's shrinking ledge.
Soon the kerplunk of depression...
Bipolar bear is dead.

The Comedian

Filled up with quips like a clanking balloon
blown up with coins not with air
Clittering, clatter on golden paved streets
his winsome words, plenty to share
Brilliant performance, he's taking his bow
on a bed of burnt peacock feathers
The skycap he wears filled with holes and with tears
has protected him well from the weather
The crowd gangly gathers with popcorn and fruit
with the wish and the will just to laugh
He juggles emotions with unending devotion
and doubles his jokes up by half
By the end of the night the whole room is alight
with marshmallow bellies still shaking
From the butt of all jokes to a friend of all folks
he's a super star right in the making...

Suicide Watch

Time meter swings from a rope in the attics and antics of my mind
barbed in chronicles tentacles of raven swallows ingesting ticking
seconds away from under the duvet of spaced out stretches spell
bound in dyslexic dysfunction in grammar distorted the syntax all
black depicting semantic delusion of clock work’s terminal peace

Deep down and under scratched surfaces of doom awaits another
measure of a different frame mounted shattered fragmentation
evolving from void into the tentative tether awakenings in memories
of a future revisited of a kinder place swinging happily meandering
when the pastures of pleasure and passion mix jubilant exaltation

I am a yo-yo a Ying Yang a fool and a wise man jester and clown
casting dazzling shadows on the mosaic of life through a lens like
a bird on a wire full flight ahead hanging on with a claw’s lacerated
tears and the tempo’s rhythm pulsing heart-breaking truths in the
fallacy of certainty of composure unity and unchanging fortification

Through depression I have received growth enrichment clarity in
regards of the jungle of meaning and live to tell the story of what
reality checks balances juggles foreboding trepidation into calm
composition back and beyond a force forthright and forthwith in
the spur of the moment eternal and fleeting and that's who I am

Sui generis in Ego-cidal watch positioned and roped in by the Self

Mini Earthquake Experiences

Experienced a third bigger earthquake recently but this poem I wrote for a smaller earthquake years ago)

My first trivial tremor experience had been in Southern Africa
And now this puny earthquake I felt in Tanzania.

I saw every thing waltz to and fro and lightly shake
Bottles turned ballerinas dancing slightly to the quake

I watched glass decors on the walls quiver and jolt
Scaredy me was half asleep, no wonder didn't bolt

I thought I was dreaming or imagining things
My bed and chairs converted into gentle swings.

All vials and vases
jiggled to dance a jig
The lil horrors over
So I cast humor's wig

Ah when began rattling, the knick knacks on my dresser
Was when it dawned upon me in horror
That this was really an early dawn tremor.

I phoned some friends but those early risers
Hadn't even noticed or felt those tremors
I bet they thought I was spreading false rumours
After all poets are stereotyped as fanciful philosophers.

My cell phone keypad became my panic button in a flurry
Of course I wanted all to be alerted, alarmed in worry

Nobody believed me until it was announced in our mosque
And every body was then called by muezzin to pray the signs prayers
Then every body knew the tremor was no hoax
Some patted me for being the first to notice this shaking of earthly layers

Of course I thanked God this was no major earthquake
I've heard in other places how terribly the earth can crack and shake

Who else but God could I owe my heartfelt gratitude
For this being my 2nd low power tremor in magnitude
As it measured low on the Richter scale
based on the seismic waves' amplitude

But the earth was shaken and I too was shaken
No pics of the shivering axis were taken

Todate runs down my spine such a shiver
On recalling how the mother earth did quiver

I have seen videos of earthquakes where the earth juggles things
like a salt shaker
May God protect us from such a waker and breaker

Beautiful Bounteous Blessings

"Today don't beg, don't ask, just thank God in silence for all the blessings in your life. Each morning brings a hidden blessing; a blessing which is unique to that day. You deserve all the good things that happen to you."

~ Paulo Coelho

Auspicious azure atoll with augmented aurora
Bounteous bells bringing in buoyant breeze
Chiming cornucopia of coloured circles
Drawing drapes of dulcet dreams in delight
Emanating effervescence of enchanting echoes
Frivolously flying fervent fruits of father's faith
Gratitude garnered graciously in gaiety golden gospels
Humming harmonious hopes of humane harbinger
Iridescent immaculate ink of inbound ideologies
Jubilant jar of judicious joy in juggles
Kernels of kindness kindred in kaleidoscope
Luminescent leaves with lustre of love language
Mother's memoirs of mesmerizing morning mellow
Nurturing nascent nights with neon nuzzles
Opulent overwhelming opportunities of optimism
Pinnacles of permeating pleasure peeking in panacea
Quintessential quilt of quietude quenching quests
Radiant realms of rapport reviving a rhapsody
Soft silver slumber sparkling in sanguine serendipity
Translucent threads of tenacious tangible treasures
Unearthed utopia upholding ushered upbeats of urges
Veracious variance vibrating valiantly in vicinity
Wonderful white wisps of warm whispering waves
Xenon xing from xenial xylophones of xander xenia
Yellow yarns of yonder yesterdays yielding youthfulness
Zooming with zillion zestful zigzags to zealous zenith

Thumbs Up To The Journey

At the footbridge as it bridges past from present future and perspectives your
feet might be-come and may be-go confused be-fuddled as can your mind before
the shadows rainbows feathered fancy pastel tunes and blues-bound colours
can memories anticipation taking-stock ooze pots and lots of lived experience
re-scribed re-told rewound projected narrated from emotive thoughts
                                       stand still

At the bridge as it cradles the canyon with ladles and measures of the moment
where it spans what once was what you enrich in here and now not there and then the sweeping meadows fields of harvest schisms unions paradigms evaluations can treasures scary scars letting-go liberate scents and stents of living fragrance perceived untold configured touched upon stocked up condensed
                                       reflected wait

The past is yet to come and not withstanding what bridge which side what size
and whence long gone remembrance spins and spans and slows and speeds the motion the sunrise dusk and dawning tapestry mosaic photographic lens sensations can truth reality attitudes and imperfections find soul and solace shared solitude re-modelled shaped anew confronted soothed harmonised
                                       accentuated rise

The future has arrived and has been long projected and the past is living on
where they settle and sizzle on in ember’s glory and ashes to ashes and Phoenix in flight when horizons and boxes un-boxed wriggling worms preceding grave graves can joy pleasure senses and sexes passion peace human works of art in progress accepted invited challenged unchallenged channelled welcomed
                                       gratitude prevail

At the foot-bridge at the mind-bridge where it bridges cradles sweeps your meaning brushes and jungles juggles and wonders which hand’s intuition which path to follow lie the answers to the questions asked lie the questions known and
                                       not yet explored

Junk - Jobless Jack

Jobless Jack, a real jerk, dances a jig,
He juggles, smuggles jewels in backpacks,
jawbreakers, jump ropes, jelly rolls and crack.
~~Jig be up, Jack'll jiggle in the brig.~~

Junk jingles and jangles, squeals like a pig
jerked and jacked from joints on his pickup routes.
Amid crates of jackets, jeans, and jump suits,
Jobless Jack, a real jerk, dances a jig,

Jack jimmied the Jaguar trunk of some prig;
now Judge Judy’s searching Jack's jalopy.
“Jumping Jehoshaphat, what’s this jersey?"
~~Jig be up, Jack'll jiggle in the brig.~~

Jobless Jack, a real jerk, dances a jig,
her missing jersey was what the judge found.
~~Jig be up, Jack'll jiggle in the brig.~

Need

Tonight I cried my heart away
Accepting all the things I can not change
Still left with heartache n pain
Amongst n uneased brain

Time is ticking
The clock never stops
As the hours go by
I lay while my heart dies

Lost in self pity
Trying to dig out of a hole
I never realized was not filled with cement
A foundation with a sink hole

The task seems uneasy
The work displeasing equally a struggle
Pulling up my pants tightening my buckle
I've always been the Man as a woMan
For once I've felt defeat

As I realize the muscle
Is not divided equally
I never let him help
I never let him see me struggle
For now in distress my jester no longer juggles
