Have you ever been insane?
Lost inside your own pain
Just trying hard to figure out
What this life is really about?
There are voices up in my mind
Sometimes sanity is hard to find
Whenever I find myself all alone
I keep knocking but no ones home
I study the lines that cover my face
The jigsaw puzzle seems out of place
I don’t seem to know myself anymore
Seems my monkey took off with a whore
The only thing left sitting here is me
And my one-day at a time sobriety
When it all starts breaking down
I am just a ghost inside a clown
But I reckon that too will be ok
Long as I remember how to pray

In the quiet morning light, for the first
time, I truly gazed into the mirror,
What I saw was unrecognisable,
I must confess I was close to it but
had to draw closer still,
I was surprised to see a jigsaw of
times past.
Once a canvas, unmarked,
Now wrinkles, each a story of lessons
learnt and experiences lived,
Fine lines depict laughter, joy and
worry,
Scars show battles fought and love lost,
Spots show signs of neglect.
The colours in a once shiny black crown,
Changed to threads of silver and
reddish-brown,
Eyes once full of dreams now reflect
the wisdom of life’s true realities,
And smiling lips have somehow
lost their smile.
I told myself that I was half asleep,
so I rubbed my eyes and washed my
face,
Then made sure all the lights were on,
and looked in the mirror again,
Time’s gentle hand had left its trace,
I was taken aback and childishly asked
the mirror to explain.
In the silence of wonder, I saw the
truth in my reflection, a weathered
face,
As the seasons came and went they
laid shadows on the terrain,
Showing a journey where youth and
wisdom blend,
Gently, I touch each line on the surface.
Each jigsaw piece I cherish, so let the
years gather,
To the beauty of ageing, with gratitude
and grace, I embrace my refrain.

Just for a while
Wear a foolish smile;
Why?
~~~~~~~~~
Words on a page
Now tells on you;
Silly poet
~~~~~~~~~
Cryptic ideas veil
Disrupt the easy;
Confront conflict
~~~~~~~~~
Memory goes back
Loiters on old borders;
Ancient artifacts
~~~~~~~~~
Sad news really
Death at doorstep;
Pit stop grief
~~~~~~~~~
Evening wind chokes
Hazy air smoky;
Faraway peat fires
~~~~~~~~~
Touch of morning
Miniature dog walking;
Owner on a leash
~~~~~~~~~
By this park bench
Old memories float;
Sunburst exfoliation
~~~~~~~~~
Young couple styles
Love in slow motion;
Love birds winging
~~~~~~~~~
Old man limping
Old wife aiding;
Ancient love affair
~~~~~~~~~

Joy juggles jest
Ink id's ingest
Gloom grows grim grace
Sense spacious space
Aim apt asking
Wise words weaving
Primal plot preys
Use urge ugly
Zeal zooms zesty
Zoo-mates zealous
Lovely lines lay
Each efficacious
Please place puzzle
Lofty little
Ask and answer
Yield yoke younger

One big happy family is an understatement at best
A mother whose devotion has built this frenzied nest
A morbid sense of humor, dedicated to our throne
Without our main piece of this puzzle, our fate would be unknown
Our father he’s a comedian, in every sense of the word
His selflessness and compassion; feeling invisible, not heard
Cussing and ranting at the simplest tasks in life
Never thinking of himself; only his children, grand-children and wife
The oldest sibling out of three is a hard-working soul
An entrepreneur in every sense always achieving his goals
Passive and lenient his family comes first, always giving his time
Working seven days a week well within his prime
The middle child and only daughter stuck between two “boys”
Never feeling appreciated; trying to fill a void
First in the family to go to college; becoming educated and well known
Still searching for her sense of belonging; even though she’s all grown
The baby of the family and that baby still remains
With his lack of responsibility and spending what he gains
The heart of a lion; very strong and very brave
Just a tad bit naïve in life, just waiting to be saved
Four grandsons and eight grand-daughters keep the puzzle in tact
Non-stop adventures and activities; always running within a pack
One has gone off to college; the remainder will follow her lead
Instilling values upon our children; always teaching them to succeed
Our children are our future and our family may be a little inane
But for one to have a finished puzzle, one must first experience pain
Our puzzle is completed; the pieces are all a perfect fit
This jigsaw puzzle we have created, is a piece of history to submit

Why write poetry?
Someone asked again;
Why breathe?
~~~~~~~~~
Snail sliding slowly
Grass verge camouflage;
Morning psalm
~~~~~~~~~
Morning crowd
Busy feet congregate;
Fiddle with cellphones
~~~~~~~~~
Downtown office complex
Rush hour traffic;
Urgent commotion
~~~~~~~~~
Food court terrestrials
Sea of hungry faces;
No place to sit
~~~~~~~~~
Work day blues
So much for so little;
Make ends meet
~~~~~~~~~
Modern day woes
So little time,
So much to do
~~~~~~~~~
Healthy constellations
Mötley yoga class;
Fitness sublimates
~~~~~~~~~
Morning newspapers
Friday through Sunday;
Terminal indigestion
~~~~~~~~~
Words in a rhyme
Lost in a thought;
Inconsequential
~~~~~~~~~
Only crazy people write
Wasted resources;
Sober conclusion

Bus stop sensations
Where's the bus?
Tardy connection
~~~~~~~~~
Old contact hearsay
Not much to say;
Silent confrontation
~~~~~~~~~
Frangipani sunrise
Pink, yellow, white --
Magical moments
~~~~~~~~~
Smoky stray wind
Grim echoes;
Stale air descends
~~~~~~~~~
Shoppes in decline
Ancient wares loiter;
No takers
~~~~~~~~~
Evening settles
Noisy commotions fade;
Mahjong excavations!
~~~~~~~~~
By this old quay
Modern face lifts greet;
New watering hole
~~~~~~~~~
New dreams stacked
On old faded sites;
Cool revolution
~~~~~~~~~
Play school toddlers
Exchange play things;
Rude awakenings

Reflecting back, on a change of life
a marriage previous failed
few relationships, not me
love falls in your lap, unexpectidly
One day, a monotonous script
the next, oyster of the world begin
lighting my world,like a full blown moon
that will always be there
We both have trudged murky paths
til fate did join us at one
happiness,love,trust even same thoughts
my soulmate, be fate, life so complete.
I will never forget your words to me
"I`ve found my final piece in the jigsaw"
And this applies to me.

"When we feel our lives falling to pieces.
it's best to gather them, place in sunlight...by poet
Pieces of our lives, like jigsaw puzzles,
fitting in places, rejected in some.
If unkind, through those I quickly hustle,
expertly avoiding those with no sun,
selecting those with a long distance run.
Searching for joyfulness I want to keep;
yet, when I look farther, go very deep,
sad pieces fit, catching me unaware
Those only surface when I am asleep,
fitting nicely, their sadness I must bear.
Some are whimsical, at those I can smile,
such lovely colors make happiness spring.
Unique shapes of a life I hope worthwhile.
Shapes of my children, I lovingly bring
Pieces that fit so well, I want to sing.
Now my life puzzle is nearing complete
Many pieces I would love to repeat
Life, like the puzzle, adds pieces with time
A few may be sad, and some bittersweet
Filling each space is a distance we climb.

A thousand jigsaws is how id describe,
the many personalitys ive used to hide,
The one who's allways full of fear,
The one who's scared to shed a tear,
The one who will allways act real tough,
The one who's allways had enough,
The one who will run from responcability,
The one who will blame others negativity,
The one who's allways life and sole,
The one who's allways on the doal,
The one who drinks to block a feeling,
The one who's out wheeling and dealing,
The one who'll allways dramatise,
The one who'll allways appoligise,
The one who'll lie,rob and steal,
The one who'll give up his last meal,
The one who'll allways run away,
The one who'll allways fight and stay,
The one who'll be easily led,
The one who'll rather stay in bed,
The one who's allways fun and witty,
The one who's allways in doubt and self pity.

Rhyme
*It's a duet, much like Westbound Train's "Good News" *
Male: Oh you, sweet angel you
You take me to my knees
Female: Oh you devil you
Got me beggin' please!
Male: Scoot on a little closer darlin'
Come sit by me for awhile
Female: You know I can't trust ya baby
Got me livin' in denial
Male: Well I'm sory for the things I told ya
All the lies that had their way, with you
Female: And I'm sorry pal but
I can't stay awhile, but I'll listen any way
Both: I'm a Jigsaw Lover
A broken author
But I know you love anyway
Female: It's been far too hard
To be with you this far
But I have to say, I like it this way
Male: Well you can put me together
For any weather
Come what may
Female: Dust off Mister, you can't talk that way
I've got too much pride to let you get away
Male: Sure you do sister, I hear what you say
Just put your arm around me and let's forget those days
Both: You're a Jigsaw Lover
Baby, a broken author
Male: But baby I love you
Female: I love you darlin', anyway

The last piece would make it captivating,
framing it would make it look amazing,
looked everywhere,
dog had guilty stare,
noticing lately he's been constipated.
