Premium Member A Face Like Thunder POTD

I was a planetary climatologist, who studied climate variability and change,
Like sweet variability of stunning, green tulips, in lavish garden rearranged.

Studying the said effects on the biosphere, absorbed so many daily hours,
Like industrious days of fragrant, amber honey, after tumbling into flowers.

My labors impacted energy usage, along with food production and health,
And the survival of endangered species, like golden rays of natural wealth.

Faddish flowers fascinated friends, who flattered them, at my broad fence,
Under fleecy, lemony clouds, fast moving, and orange sun, grown intense.

Famished, feasible family feasted, in lavish flowering fragrance of Fridays,
When fugitive, frosty stars flickered, winking at green garden bonsai trees.

I lived in the house of emerald echoes, in vivid memory of nature's sound,
From birdsong to crickets to evening wind, and brook of babbling renown.

Sachets swept away a sudden sadness, as robins sought another summer,
On my street of starry-eyed forget me nots, like a tune with no drummer.

Nobody knew latest neighborhood news, like my nearest friends next door,
Like chameleon sun, crisscrossing teal sky, wholly ignorant of 'nevermore.'

Pink birds were living high, and red butterflies viewed a world, ultraviolet;
And yellow bees went about their sweet labors, since queen bee desired it.

Strawberry clouds sailed around the world, for clouds ever love adventure,
As dogwoods barked in summer's dog days, during a gold noon surrender.

As I was walking home one day, the sun vanished as skies turned ominous.
There was a lightning flash just before the thunder, loud and cacophonous!

Suddenly, I saw a male face in the clouds, that was bellowing and enraged,
Like blizzard winds through naked trees, howling at a lush year that's aged.

Taken aback, like butterflies in gusts, I had come face to face with thunder-
The mighty, furious face of the storm, and I was filled with sudden wonder!

Then came the silver rains, sideways slanting, at the dead end of drought;
And I raced home like all uneasy nature, in the successive hours of doubt.

Scintillating sun had returned next day, after banishing the tangerine mist,
As benevolent nature was no more angry, its tale ending in an orange twist!

Premium Member Life According To Jan

Recent experiences in my life have impacted on me greatly
Tell friends and family that you love them - it’s too late when they are gone
Grab every opportunity in life - you may never get a second chance
No one is perfect, we should learn from our mistakes
Stand by your decisions - at that time it was the right choice for you
You may not agree with others but listen to their point of view
Engage brain before opening your mouth - or you may regret what you said
Most important of all ... try to laugh and smile every day
Live every day to the full - for one day sun will fail to rise
Remember life is not a dress rehearsal
We only get one chance before the final curtain falls

Premium Member On Loving the Literary Soup,,

When my spirit was fogged in gloom
After i impacted concrete; like a lead balloon

It lifted my strength as I started to write
Of a beautiful girls toy; on its maiden flight

Intended for a contest by souper trouper P D
But I wrote it wrong in "form" if you look you'll see...)

Yet on its immersion in "the soup" I felt satisfied
It seemed to numb the pain; i had been feeling inside

Its not winning or losing while on "the soup"
Though neither string bean; or minestrone (i feel) in "the loop"

There are many places to spend a while,
But the "draw" for me is "the soups" unique flavor & style

It has content..) that's peaceful, stimulating; its fine"
Yet words versus" its essence is exercising my mind,

Let its writers and their themes be the answer to why
I extol "the soups" virtue; that's my definitely my very best try.!

I hung up my cell phone two

Mary C. and I wanted to call
our mutual friend, Starshadow.
Who has self quarantined. But
on three occasions the robot

Success at last! I was able to

The people did not know if
they would be back there
two weeks from last Sunday.

My friend Mary C and I will
not be attending any more

cities of Everett and Snohomish.

King and Snohomish Counties
are two of the most impacted
counties in the Evergreen State

Since all of the parks have been
shut down in Snohomish County
Washington. And mayor Cassie
Franklin has ordered Everett under

The State of Colorado has dispatched

The States of California, New York,

Eleventh, March

A sigh escapes still, immune to overt silence, unabashed...justified
Another teardrop enters the infinite pool of resilience, uplifting...reinforcing
   Another hand empathizes--
touching, impulsively putting one's heart unto wounds, alleviating pain
enfolding memories into paper, ostensibly vigilant
         Unborn dreams awaiting fruition.

empty streets, impacted pieces: occupied lives, unwavering spirits

Arighting the entropy--
"Not Impossible!" Heaves Obstacled Nation -- Untiring, Persevering!

A lone emboldened seed is planted, objectifying hope,
  ushering life amidst rubble,
engaging tenacity inherently within overburdened, yet undauntable voices
Ardently surging, emerging from insidious waves of chaos,
     ultimately touching azure

Time effortlessly moves, insensitive to ordeals
  nonetheless, undoubtedly healing...

As wings echo distantly, irradiated winds oscillate
                     blush unfurling light...

Arise, Sun! Embrace the illuminated blossom. Orbit Love's universe.

**It has been two years since Japan encountered
such a devastating triple tragedy
of the earthquake in Tohoku, tsunami and
the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster...

They are still slowly picking up the pieces,
so much needs to be done,
so many are still displaced, uncertain of their futures, of their lives...
hopefully they are not forgotten.

It may take long, long years,
but I honestly believe Japan can rise over this, I honestly hope so.

****Thank you David for this enjoyable challenge.
It has pushed me to approach this topic in a way that
I would have never thought of on my own....

Sleighbells Skewed

Sleighbells ring, he ain’t list’nen
frozen toes, they is glist’nen
Nick has got him a fright
on a damn frigid night
all because of orn’ry reindeer Dan

Gone away are the kind words
Here to stay are profane slurs
Nick ain’t very happy
His night started crappy
all because of orn’ry reindeer Dan

In the meadow Danny spied a fairy
Danny Boy done swung the sleigh around
Santa Claus so fat with face so hairy
got planted on his ass upon the ground

Reindeer Dan sure gets distracted
Santa Clause sure is impacted
by the plight of his sleigh
he’s filled with dismay
all because of orn’ry reindeer Dan

Later on he’ll conspire
as he recalls what transpired
He’ll post a want ad
for a someone less bad
to take the place of orn’ry reindeer Dan

But Danny boy is still a singing
even though his ears are ringing
from the words which he heard
he’s the scourge of the herd
the A D H D, orn’ry reindeer Dan

Consider Me

Here I lie in bed again,
Awaiting my next meal.
A worker enters in my room,
As if it's no big deal.

What ever happened to courtesy? Just a little knock.
Do you think I'm just a vegetable, Laying here like a rock?

What ever happened to manners? I haven't got a clue.

BUT KEEP IN MIND AND DON'T FORGET, THAT I'M A PERSON TOO.

I know I can not talk,
Or even joke around.
But I'm well aware of everything, and also every sound.

If you have another worker help, change me during rounds.
Please don't talk about me, as if I'm not around.

Treat me with respect,
the same I'd give to you.

KEEP IN MIND AND DON'T FORGET, THAT I'M A PERSON TOO.

My bones are stiff and achy,
I hear you say I'm contracted.
My belly hurts, I haven't pooped,
I hope I'm not impacted.

I'm sorry I may dribble,
and at times I even stare.
It's not easy being old,
aging isn't fair.

These are the cards God dealt me,
There's nothing I can do.

JUST KEEP IN MIND AND DON'T FORGET, THAT I'M A PERSON TOO.

I used to be a lively one,
just like your pretty self.
I traveled, married, and worked long hours until I lost my health.

I press my light to see a face,
Or just for company.
For someone just to look inside, and realize that I'm ME.

You walked past my light,
what am I to do?

PLEASE REMEMBER I'M A PERSON TOO.

I'm sorry that I messed the bed,
I feel like such a baby.
I'm so embarrassed, and ashamed,
that I'm doing this at eighty.

I'm sorry I couldn't hold it,
I didn't know what to do.

KEEP IN MIND AND DON'T FORGET, THAT I'M A PERSON TOO.

I wish that I was able,
to communicate some way.
So finally I'd get the chance,
to say what I want to say.

I hear you talk with other patients, so please don't walk away.
If everyone showed a little compassion,
I wouldn't feel this way.

So here I am, no family left, as loneliness weighs heavy on my chest.

I may be sad, I may be blue.

PLEASE REMEMBER I'M A PERSON TOO.

Next time my light is on,
come and see if I'm OK.
I'm a retired nurse of thirty years, and would love to hear about your day.

* Foot Prints On the Heart

A day comes when you know
the many people that have come
and gone have left you with
many foot prints on your heart.

The foot print treads imprinted
deep on the heart of one looking
at life differently through eyes,
open now wide taking everything in.

Eyes, once dark, lost, empty seeing
nothing but the ugliness life once held.
Escaping through the boarded up,
windows sealed with black paint.

Seeing the beauty all around embracing,
all that is seen, soaking it in like a sponge,
when wet holds all that it has soaked in.
releasing only when squeezed out.

The foot prints of the many people who,
have come and gone are the sponges
within her heart, squeezing out only the,
ones which held her captive for so long.

Others, she keeps tucked away within,
remembering all of them who have passed.
Their foot prints impacted on the heart of,
the one now with eyes wide open.

Treasures of Gold

Treasures of gold are the ones untold:
The ones stand so bold & yet never fold…
In the deepest corners scorned but not torn, Bruised & tainted but still not worn….
Beautiful on the outside but worn within:
toughly put together with the gentlest skin….
Impacted with newest wishes but covered with the old on the outside, eyes open wide..
in the rain shivering cold hands clinching to hold the very gift built from my life's treasures
of gold so beautiful & bold yet untold………..

Premium Member Occam's Butter Knife

As I rummage through the cabbage patch of general affairs,
I’m made aware of certain signs of cultural decline.
I see it written in the talon marks of chem-trails overhead,
Confirming all my pet conspiracy theories.
It’s rooted in the topsoil of a flat earth conviction.
It’s every suburban legend’s low hanging fruit.
It’s the latest mass shooting as a Tik-Tok challenge
Teasing gut brain muscle memories with algorithms of outrage.
It’s all flash, but no drive, just broad-spectrum rhetoric
Inducing Karenoia and cultivating satanic panic,
All in the name of the Good Lord and Savior.
It’s the dog whistle only heard by those whose ears
Cannot think outside the Fox, where waxy yellow build-up
Is impacted, unyielding to the voice of Reason.
It’s, “OK groomer,” “Don’t say gay,” and "Let's go Brandon."
It’s the Battle Hymn of the Replacement.
It’s the influencers trending on social media.
It’s the meme that captures the lapsing of just a still moment,
Like a fly frozen in the amber of time everlasting.
It’s the universal selfie unapologetically posted on the Cloud.
You may be cool, but you’ll never be Korean cool.
And yet you try ever so hard to be.
When I slice with Occam’s butter knife
The loaf becomes a senseless pile of crumbs.
And so it goes.

blackbirds …

innumerable …
clouds and washes of them
I grin to myself -
symbolism …
you taught me that
and more … (and less)
you taught me the difference between
love and lust … and Love
but you used a dull knife to cut,
and those wounds fester …
I still tend them, despite decades
you were younger than I
but far more experienced … wiser
I could never repay the tender
patience you showed me -
(precious, that)
I tried …
with effort and sincerity
(and apportioned bent for the fleshly arts)
but, you see
your callow honesty was covenant to me
as sure as moonlight on mountain snow
and in my wide-eyed faith I failed to
see the changes of maturity
(or perhaps REFUSED to)
and your direction snuck up on me -
that altered course was hidden from me by
the mist of hope
until what should have been a gentle curve
became a roadblock
a cold, stark, unscalable bastion that
impacted headlong
and at full tilt …
it brought forth a part of you
I had never known
and its cleft … was cruelty
something I had not imagined you capable of
thus …
the deepest wound was not the
reality of losing you
or the knowledge that our oaths -
made in the purity of youth -
had become thistles on the wind,
it was that there had been this ruthless,
unkind part of you all along -
a bitterly contrary essence of your soul
that I had never seen
in the countless times I had
swum deep your glimmery gaze …
each, now, as a blackbird in my sky
just as enigmatic
just as untold,
and just as …

unreachable.

Premium Member The Coronavirus Covid-19 Part Two

The Snohomish County Health District is using the Angel of the Winds Casino's Everett arena. In order to treat victims of COVID-19. Whereas in Seattle 300 Army medical core medical professions are being utilized to treat patients not being effected by the Coronavirus. In Kent and Issaquah motels are being used to intern people affected by it. They are being monitored by the police. Yet in Kent, a homeless man broke lose and robbed a local convenience store.

The Army medical core is using the Seattle's CenturyLink Event Center and field. Treating non victims of COVID-19. Field hospitals are being established nationally and world wide. Treating this contemporary angel of death.

In Yakima twelve to thirteen inmates broke lose because their facility was being impacted by COVID-19. In several of the most impacted states, such as New York. The National Guard has been called out to render assistance. As of yesterday, thirty three of the fifty states have been effected by it.

There have been non essential business in Washington State. Ignoring Governor Jay Inslee's order to close down. First they will be warned, and finally they could lose their business licenses. For continued noncompliance.

President Donald Trump and Congress approved a stimulus package for our nation. Checks should be arriving direct deposit by the IRS in about two to three weeks. His stay at home order has been extended to April 30th.

Online schools are becoming the new normal for students. Even students without home computers can use their teacher's lesson plans. And in some areas home computers are being delivered to k-12 students.

We should watch, wait and pray for the COVID-19 to pass over us. By vanishing into thin air.

Premium Member Do Not Download Computer Programs

Marquee gave me a choice. "What would I rather be, a better writer, or to be able to use my computer?" They notified me.

Their telephone number is 1-800-562-1502 and they are open Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sundays. if you are interested in contacting them for further information please feel free to call them?

They informed me downloading's programs on your computers. Would open the door for malware to enter in, and take over control of your computers. Additionally, you would have the increased risk of identify theft.

"Did I want somebody to be able to steal my identity. And have complete access to my personal and financial information?" They informed me.

I told them I did not want that to happen to me. They now run anti virus checks on my desk top computer automatically. Being able to commutate online, and through social media. Is vitally important to all online and print based writers and/or poets. Although I basically classify my self as a fictional writer. I have written factual on line information.

The above factual information is based purely on my personal online experiences. I do not want other people to make the same mistakes as I did. I was completely ignorant. But ignorance of the law is no excuse. That did not stop my computer from being directly impacted by malware. Even though I was told it was through no fault of my own.

If you or anyone you may know is downloading programs on their computers. Do them and yourself a favor. Stop it before it is too late. I have crashed two desk top computers and one lap top one. Computers are expensive to repair and or replace.

As a born again Christian, I forgive them for what they did to me. If I want to be forgiven, I must also be willing to forgive. And be willing to pray they change their tactics.

The Storms of Life

Author Dana Redricks
July 7, 2019

The storm is finally over
I knew it wouldn't last
Until the next storm pass I
can rest at last
Storms come and the blow
for a while
Some pour gently and some
rage strong some pass quickly
and some storms seem to last
but now the storm is over I can
rest at last
Somehow my life has been
filled with rain and impacted
with pain of that which seems
to last the storm is finally over
this time I hope they hope it stays
away for awhile but I have decided
no matter what storms may
come my way I will rest in
God's perfect peace
