A cockroach crawls before it falls

It's time to pay the rent and feed children

One minute he’s by you
Sitting on a chair
The next minute you look
He’s no longer there.
Every door is closed 
But he’s not to be found.
That confounded cat has
Slipped through the ground.

You’ll very soon learn
Not to search the place 
He’ll return when he wants
